You've never heard of the Bugatti Veyron, the latest addition to the Forza Motorsport 3 lineup of cars? Neither had we; it's not the type of car we're likely to spot around town. If the above video – detailing the process used to convert the Veyron's various "gauges" and "horsepowers" into equally alluring ones and zeroes – is to be believed, the Veyron is "probably the most coveted car in the world right now."
Coveted is one thing; obtainable another. The $1.4 million, nearly 1000-horsepower Veyron is rare. Rare like: Forza developers Turn 10 tracked one down in southern California with the help of Bugatti but they themselves didn't get a chance to drive it! So if you want to know what it's like to drive one, you have a couple options: Read our sister site Autoblog's First Drive with the Veyron; Go back in time and put one penny in a savings account and, upon returning to your own time, reap the rewards of compound interest; Or you could play Forza Motorsport 3 and crash the thing straight into a wall. And then rewind it.
Stay tuned for our interview with Forza 3's game director Dan Greenawalt, who shares some details on the Veyron, on the game's second disc, the inclusion of damage modeling in Sony's long-time-coming Gran Turismo 5, and what type of game he thinks Turn 10 would make if it changed genres.

I've heard of it.
It's the fastest production car available, extremely expensive, and requires a second key to unlock it's true speed potential by morphing the car for better aerodynamics. The fact that it's in this game is exciting. Too bad I haven't touched a racing sim since GT3 (for no reason other than I have other gaming priorities and not a super flow of cash).

Sorry, bub, the SSC Ultimate Aero is the fastest car in the world at 256.18 mph. And thats just what they have managed to do with the limited length of road in the world: the Ultimate Aero TT in fact has a 272 mph top speed, as opposed the "measley" Buggatti's 250 which hasn't held the record for two years now.
The Veyron is old news. Gimme a call when something breaks Mach 1.

He is right, although his numbers are wrong.
The Ultimate Aero only holds the record a little over 2mph more than the Veyron. While it's "theoretical" speeds in newer models are over 270, it has never reached them.
So, it's the 2nd fastest, and not by much, although at those speeds the wind resistance is massive, so it is probably more than it seems. I think the Veyron still accelerates faster, but I can't find any details right now on that one.
Either troll fail or just straight up prick, pick one.

damn i can drop a 900+ HP supercharged Mopar Crate Engine in my dodge truck or dodge charger for $ 38,000.00
thats a lot of money for HP and having a flashy ride....
damn what people do with their money sometimes.
but 0-60 would be 4 seconds, instead of 2.4.. damn that is fast.
but can you even drive that on a road, within legal speed limits, without damaging the car?
lol i know you cant compare a freaking truck to a race car, but still...

I've heard disputes saying that the Ultimate Aero while faster than the Veyron still doesn't count as the fastest production car in the world because they apparently haven't actually delivered any cars to people. I'm not sure about that though.
And regardless, the Veyron is still an amazing technical achievement and it has much more class and appeal than the Ultimate Aero. It's pretty exciting to have such an excellent car in a racing game.

Cool man. I saw a Veyron not too long ago (there are a lot of rich, retired bankers in this town) and it was pretty stunning.
Really looking forward to this game. I think I have more hours in Forza 2 than any other Xbox 360 title.

Its hard not to know about the fastest production car in the world. How can any male not know about the Veyron? Its been around for years and is quite famous, its the benchmark for super cars.

I almost posted the exact same thing. This car is absolutely insane and I would kill to drive one, let alone see one in person. A lot of my friends aren't nearly as into cars as I am and they've still heard of the Veyron, so I was surprised to see them say they had never heard of it.
I think it would be a lot of fun if they threw something like the Atom car in the game or something.

Top Gear owns all. This is the video where Hammond raced the fighter plane with the Veyron. For those who don't understand why this car is such a big deal, WATCH THIS VIDEO.

Haha...I knew about that car a while ago, which is sort of funny since even if I owned one I couldn't drive it.

ps. The linked article above puts it best;
"First of all, you don't accelerate in the Veyron Grand Sport. That is what humans do in their puny human conveyances. You evaporate, and then you reappear somewhere down the road. And if someone, like a police officer or maybe St. Peter, were to ask you what happened, all you could say is "I think I remember pushing my foot down, like this... and then... I was here..."

It didn't do bad on the Top Gear track. Not really. It handled exceptionally well, and kept its composure the whole time. On a track with turns as tight as on that one, it's crazy that a 4400 LB car did as well as it did, 1001 HP or not.

Fastest car in the world? Has an aerodynamic mode? Was only beaten by a fighter plane by 4 seconds? Really?!

I've always loved the Koenigsegg ever since Top Gear put it round the track and exclaimed it would to better with a wing on the back...

I'm surprised that there's anyone in the developed world that hasn't heard of the Bugatti Veyron. It's been the dream of many gamers for many years for it to appear in a proper racing game, and so far, for some reason, it hasn't.
I'm so glad we'll finally get the chance to experience it, and I'm glad it's going to be Forza that gives me that experience.

that's the price of realism. some of my friends couldn't get into forza 2 because they didn't understand that some cars are so powerful that redlining it from the start line almost guarantees that you'll spin out. true driving (easing on the break, easing on the accelerator) doesn't appeal to some people, and i suppose that's what arcade racers are for.
