Sure, The Beatles: Rock Band developer Harmonix has been busy working on next week's big release for some time now, but did you know it's also working on "re-energizing" its "core franchises?" Harmonix PR overlord John Drake told CVG as much, saying that while the studio is ready to refocus on its existing portfolio, it's been busy making sure it got The Beatles game 100 percent right. "We were terrified while making the game, hoping we don't make [Apple Corps] mad at any point -- they're really nice and easy to work with, but this is The Beatles, you can't afford to mess this up."
Considering the longtime rhythm game developer more or less re-energized its Amplitude and Frequency franchises with Rock Band Unplugged, we're taking a wild stab in the dark here when we suggest Drake's likely talking about Rock Band 3. And does "re-energizing" in this case mean "adding Project Natal functionality?" We're not sure yet, but we've got our fingers as uncrossed as possible, just in case.

Wait a minute - the quote from Harmonix uses the plural of the word franchise? Don't get me wrong, I loved Frequency and Amplitude to death, but to claim that they're part of Harmonix's franchise portfolio is stretching the truth somewhat. Harmonix has one franchise, albeit a hugely popular one.
I too would love to see something else in the field of Freq or Amp, but I'm not for a moment thinking that it's likely. Look at the numbers - neither was anything more than a moderate success - it wasn't until Harmonix strapped a plastic peripheral to the game that it really took off. Short of going the DJ Hero route, I'm not sure how they re-energise those titles.

I wish that "reenergize" means adding an expansion to RB2 with new venues, modes, characters and Achievements.
The DLC is great but give me some more incentives to play the actual game!

Maybe they mean they will stop screwing Wii owners over... but I doubt it. Say want you want about Activision- but they always keep the GH franchises on par for each platform.

How so? I'm obviously at a disadvantage of not owning the Wii version of RB but how are you gimped with RB2? Your getting close to 20+ new songs a week and your career mode is almost the same as mine minus graphics.
Please educate me so I don't sound like an idiot in the future.

They had a late start for the Wii on Rock Band, so of course the DLC will be a bit lacking. But look at the list of songs. There's less than twenty to go before the Wii is on par with the 360 and PS3. But I guess they don't have Mii Freestyle, which everyone knows, makes the Wii versions of GHWT and GH5 superior to the rest.

Rock Band 3. Don't know what they're gonna do, but whatever it is, it will be amazing.

Did they ever patch RB2 to include stars in the song list? I remember them saying that they were going to patch that.

I played Guitar Hero 2. So yes, I have played a game better than Guitar Hero 5.
Fixed.

What the fuck is the special suprise inside? I've been itching for months on end trying to find out what else (besides the mic stand) comes in the band edition...

You should look up what the genre "Rock" is because I think you have a misconception. If they do it, then it better be only one song (specifically the Anthrax version), and if rap gives you that much of a boner, then go download Snoop Dogg, wierdo.

Re-energize what? It's a game where you play plastic instruments to new songs.
MORE SONGS is all you need! Let's go!

I have bought every single rhythm game I have been capable of buying on the 360 (aside from Smash Hits, because that was just pure shit), and I plan on buying each one that comes out...
But I'm just not sure I could stomach a rhythm game that uses Natal. Rock Band is essentially perfect as far as gameplay goes anyway. You don't need to ruin everything by totally changing the way the game is played.
However, they could definitely take a cue from GH5 and add a bunch of little changes that make the game that much better, like Expert+, more multiplayer modes, STARS DISPLAYED ON THE FUCKING SONG LIST, and most importantly, not slowing down scrolling notes for everybody when one person is playing on a lower difficulty.
Pretty please.

I've played Guitar Hero 5, and he's absolutely right: it's awful. They improved the engine, but that can't save the game from one of the most mediocre setlists ever.

Show me Rock Band: Pink Floyd, with the same effort that you put into the one that comes out next week. I'll show you an effin' "Dreamscape."

Natal integration could be wicked cool if it did one thing, and one thing only:
Translate your body movements to your avatar on-screen... When I get really into it (or drunk), I'm banging my head, got my foot up on the coffee table, etc.
Translate my movements into my avatar and I'm more than happy to have Natal integration.
Use it for actually playing something? Um, no.

GHWT was well enough, but the font for all menus and especially the song lyrics was awful. Even on a HDTV the letters were illegible at times. Can any GH5 owners let me know if they fixed the font? I almost want to try RB because at least you can read lyrics on that one. It'd be the best of both worlds...GH instruments and RB interface, unless GH5 actually corrected this.
