Well, both are racing games. But Gran Turismo has the Nascar license, as well as 1000 cars on one disc...so Forza looks pretty small by comparison. We'll see which sells more.

To be fair, it's not really 1000. I'm not sure on the car list for GT5, but the PSP version claims to have 800 cars although 50 of them are Skylines, over 30 RSX's, etc..

These "different" cars all use exactly the same models, they just have different stats. Where as in Forza you can customise and tune the cars a lot more, eliminating the need for those variations.

The Nascar stuff is pretty cool though.

You can say that again when Forza 4 comes out, cuz at this rate, we'll never see GT5.
As for what Bradwart said, 1000 cars??? Either game has too many cars, most people who play either one of them probably wont drive/purchase them all.

im not saying that graphics dont matter in a racing sim, they are one of the biggest things. but even if gt really looked that much better (and mind you, the grahpics look amazing in forza, i can still feel the beauty of the car as much, if not more, than i can in gt) the fun part is still a factor. if people feel like driving a car in forza more than in gt because of the way forza drives, or the features and modes it offers to drive the car in, then the more polygons in gt doesnt really sway them towards it. neither does the 700 more cars, or varients, as we both know that you will not personaly test out and make a list of your favorites any higher than 30-40, let alone 300. im not telling the industry to take a step back, i love that gt is doing better grahpics and more cars, all im saying is that if another game takes a step forward in a direction where it makes the actual experience better, i appreciate that a lot more than a few extra cars.

Great interview. I'm getting really excited for this game.

So the disc-two content is installed like DLC. Sounds like I might finally need to replace my 20GB hard drive; the DLC is starting to add up. Can anybody recommend an easy way to migrate the content from a 20GB Xbox hard drive to a 60GB Xbox hard drive? I have a 60GB just sitting here...

Yes, get the transfer kit from Microsoft. If you ask they usually send it free. It's a plug and play transfer too, so no complicated commands. Depending on how full the drive is, it can take a few minutes to an hour. I'd recommend deleting any games you've copied to the hard drive to speed things up.

I'm still holding out for the 250gb ones. They discontinued the 60gb's so hopefully they simply lower the 120's down to the 60's old price and the 250 comes in at the 120's.

I can't see them charging as much as a console for an HDD.

No longer free? D'oh. The last time I looked into this, they did not even have a transfer kit that worked on the 60GB, there was only a 120GB kit. Looks like I waited too long to inquire again.

@Ashitaka, do you happen to know what it costs now?

don't use that official xbox transfer kit garbage, use XSATA. It not only lets you transfer info from your XBOX and your PC, but it also means you can use a regular hard drive to store whatever is extra (aka you don't have to pay for an overpriced XBOX HDD).

Yeah call MS and they will mail you out a Data Transfer cable, I got mine for free.
Its pretty straight forward to move the data over, the transfer takes a bit of time because its USB so start if you have some demos that you can download again later trash them to speed up your transfer.

I enjoyed the interview, Dan G seems like a totally down to earth guy.

Grand Turismo fans be happy that this games exists because its pushing them to do more with GT, damage is now part of their classic franchise, we'll see how much of the online features they'll incorporate from Forza. Forza/GT doesnt matter this is a win win situation for all gamers you can get a proper racing game on either console.

Excellent interview. Cannot wait to see some other cars in Forza 3, like the Genesis Coupe or the Lexus IS F. I am disappointed at the lack of an air brake on the Veyron, as it's one of the cars exclusive features. I got chill when he mentioned a future where Autoblog would say "The car has a great amount of understeer, check it out for yourself" and one could jump into Forza, drive it around a test track and make a conclusive statement about the car without having to actually test drive it.

I am so wet for this game.

To piggy-back what Brad said about transferring. You won't be able to use the transfer cable to get stuff from a 20GB to a 60GB. I work part time at a used game store and we have tried to do it before, thing wont recognize the 60gb.
Once again, MS has dropped the ball on their peripherals.

I've started to do some research on this, and I hear there's a separate transfer kit for the 20GB to 60GB migration. The one that Microsoft sells in stores only works on the 120GB. Why can they not just have one unified part?

If Turn 10 did for Forza 3 DLC what Harmonix did with Rock Band DLC (I mean the fact that you have a huge store with toons of content to choose from) they would have a killer in their hands... Alas the time required to get the cars into the game is just too big to be a real possibility but I, like Dan Greenwalt, can only dream of the day when such thing will be possible...

Just get a Torx driver and a 250GB laptop drive and put it in the 20GB's case. Now you have a 250GB HDD for $80.

You also have a 250GB HDD that doesn't work with the console.

You need the Security Sector from the XBOX 360 250GB HDD (which isn't even out yet) - otherwise the console will not detect the HDD!

So you will have to get the one (ss.bin) from the 120GB.
So the maximum size you can have at the moment is 120GB, regardless of HDD capacity.

The second disk having to be installed to avoid having ugly blob cars running around tracks is a major letdown.
"We have 400 cars! Umh... But they're 300 if you don't have X gigabytes on your hard disk...."

Bad for microsoft I guess, the choice of sticking with DVDs is starting to weigh.

The choice of sticking with a DVD has totally weighed in their favor.

They were able to get a console out a year before Sony thus getting more games out before them and keeping the costs down. All of that means more consoles sold, more consoles sold more developers on-board to work with the console. That was a problem they had with the original Xbox. I think with the number of units that are sold they're not un-happy with their media selection.

The blobs will only be issues for people playing on the Arcade units which most have probably gone out and gotten a used HD of the web. Also if you know how to drive your more than likely not going to see the blobs because they'll be behind you.

Actually a VERY high number of PRO units have been sold with 20 Gb hard disks, and if you have 20 GB having to install a DVD on it hurts a lot.

The choice of sticking with DVD worked in their favor *so far* but the generation is still long, and games are getting bigger and bigger, I don't know if you noticed. That's why games like Uncharted 2 will never run on the 360, and as the generation progresses more games like Uncharted 2 will be developed.

The tale of the tortoise and the hare may prove true once again.

sticking with DVD's was probably one of the # 1 factors on why MS is ahead of sony this generation, and why i owned a 360 before a ps3 and why i own many 360 games from years past that i would not have been able to play any other way.

in all honesty would you have rather switched a few MGS4 game discs which takes less than 30 seconds to do, or were you more happy with waiting anywhere from 10-40 minutes for all of the 7 game installs to occur?

im not knocking blu ray, as it has been great and a new tech which opens new doors. but it was not a bad MS decision to stick with DVD.
especially when most of the world wants to stick with DVD now.
and abriel if you dont have X gigabytes on a 360 or ps3 harddrive you are not going to playing many games moving forward as most every ps3 game now installs data onto your HDD. people who purchased an arcade model knew that they were saving money and not getting an HDD.

@ Abriael

You're so fucking stupid, it's amazing.

Saying that Forza 3 needs disc 2 installed like you've never heard anything like it before.

So when GT5 requires an XXGB install, you'll probably argue that it's the greatest thing ever.

& Uncharted can be achieved on the 360 - you would be stupid to think otherwise.

Larger games? i don't think so
Do you know what RAM is? - how will larger games cope with that hurdle on consoles?
Games may be able to fit more content on a Blu-ray disc, but there will not be 'bigger' games.
Development costs also prohibit it.

You forget an important detail. Switching discs over and over causes disc read errors on many games, almost every multi-disc 360 games is know to give disc read error, and when you get it after a boss fight in games like Lost Odyssey or Star Ocean, it's extremely irritating.

So yeah, I much rather have a single disk than multiple, and i doubt ANYONE that's not a rabid 360 fanboy would really think different.

Not to mention the fact that on bluray they can easily do full 50 GB games, which mean more contents and less compressed assets -> bigger and better games. the fact that GT5 has 1000 cars and forza just 400 (IF you have enough space on your HD) is a good example of this.

Wow - can you even listen to what you're saying?

THIS IS NOT A JRPG!

THIS IS A RACING GAME!

So repeatedly switching discs is NOT REQUIRED.

Maybe now you will understand (doubt it though).

50GB games - yeah, sure.
No game will come to that size anytime soon.
Any game that claims to be that size is obviously overbloated & could easily be compressed *without affecting the quality at all*.

Anyone with half a brain + some knowledge would know that Blu-ray currently doesn't do anything for gaming.
Especially when these isn't hardware to take advantage if it.

GT may have 1000 cars, but how many are unique car models?
& how detailed are they compared to the ones in Forza?
Has the GT team done the same amount of background research as the Forza team on each car?
& when will the GT game be out?

There have been 2 Forza games in the space of 1 GT game.
I don't know about you, but getting to play 2 games (3 for me as i have both consoles) is better than waiting for 1.
