I've been playing uncharted after the update with no issues at all. I do own a 60gig/backwards compatible model. This could be why I don't have any issues. Good luck to everyone.

Good thing I got my platinum long ago, I've gone through that game far too many times. Now, if this was happening in Batman: Arkham Asylum right now I'd be a pissed.

I own a 40gb with upgraded hard drive, i'm currently playing the game as I type this and i have yet to run into even the smallest hiccup....I just think some systems freeze sometimes for some people. I doubt Home freezes because of 3.0....Home froze for me many times before on other Firmware.I have a feeling that we're going to get a ton of Sony haters just SAYING that a game froze, or something else froze just for s & g's.Not calling anyone a liar....I just expect that....

Don't be absurd, are you really suggesting that I bought a ps3 on the off chance things would go wrong so that I could bitch about it on the internet? Are you suggesting the membership of the Sony forums (of all people!) are making up problems with their PS3? No. I bought a PS3 because I heard a lot about Uncharted and I decided at $300 it was worth it and now I'm a bit miffed because I can't progress through the third chapter.

Look, more people having similar trouble with firmware 3.0!

Honestly not everything is about your console war.

Annnyway back to Heavenly Sword until this is fixed.

Prototype has always frozen on me on the 360...brand new disc, just a junk game I think.

Most games never freeze, but some definitely do, no idea why. Installing to the hard drive never fixes anything for me.

I couldn't get past 5% completion of Saints Row because the game was completely fucked...

Got through Mirror's Edge perfectly recently with no freezes,.

Chronicles of Riddick is freezing on me sporadically (but I blame that on the Starbreeze engine, which is buggy -- there was a street you needed to access in The Darkness to continue the main storyline that caused a crash -- until they patched it).

FarCry 2 had a game save corruption issue which fucked tons of people that they didn't bother patching until a year later (only helps new players, not me)...

I remember when Morrowind would freeze on me 5 steps in any direction in certain towns, so I tried to avoid those towns like the plague...Bethesda is probably the only developer I give a pass on bugs, since their games are fairly complicated with so many variables. Oblivion and Fallout3 would occasionally freeze too. I expected that though.

Bah! Only gotta play this on crushing for platinum...was hoping to do that next month, just before Uncharted 2 comes out. As long as it's fixed by then I'm not too fussed.

that sucks! I just bought my PS3 last week, and was planning on getting Uncharted next week, so I can get through it before the sequel hits...oh well, hopefully they get it fixed before then, I guess I have inFamous to tide me over until then.

I think I read on PS forums that if you reduce your audio MHz output (from the high setting to the low setting) you can play music while browsing. May want to look into that.

Um... doesn't this happen with EVERY firmware on 360 and PS3 (and for that matter any computer OS update)? Within a very short amount of time there always seems to be an added update to fix what went wrong.

Soooo many people complaining as if they've never owned a computer or any device that has ever had to update. Peeps need to calm the hell down.

My white DS3 works as well. I haven't tried Uncharted yet, but I've played that out anyway. The people who had a problem with their controllers posted the model number as CECHZC2H, which I believe is from Hong Kong. I have a CECHZC2J from Japan. That'll teach you people to buy from Hong Kong. ;-)

Has anyone experienced increase heat from your ps3 with the new update? My 60g is really pouring out the heat even on the XMB. I played many BluRay movies and leaving it on the XMB more that a few times and not experiencing as much of a heat output. The fan goes into turbo mode not even 10 minutes later.

"The Best" version(price reduction version) is of Uncharted is going to be released on September 3rd, and I was going to buy it and play it before Uncharted 2....

I really hope mine does freeze...

For the people who freeze, does rebuilding your system work in anyway?
I remember you can enter a maintenance mode in PS3.
But doing this, you'll lose all your messages from your friends...

MY console war? el oh el. Seeing that I own all 3 consoles I would say I was neutral. Read what I said again, I didn't say EVERYONE having issues is making crap up, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's greatly exaggerated. I mean do you honestly think that there won't be trolls/fanboys of some sort that will jump on this? I would expect it...

I just played like 1 hour of Uncharted and I had no freezing at all. Maybe it's a model specific thing? I have one a 80GB Phat w/o BC, it's like one year old.

I picked up my slim last week and played Uncharted on 2.80 until Chapter 8. I then updated to 3.0 and played through chapter 8 just fine but when I got to chapter 9 it started freezing. Like most new slim owners I thought maybe it was the disc because it kept happening in the same general area every time but my disc was flawless. I loaded up an earlier save and it froze a couple minutes in as well so I determined it wasn't the area I was in. I then uninstalled the Uncharted game data (the patch) and reinstalled it hoping that would help but no such luck so I tried it without reinstalling the update and the damn thing worked. Unfortunately the game still freezes on me but without the Uncharted update I can get in an hour or two of play before it does so. It's just too bad I can no longer get trophies.

Something else that seemed to fix the problem for me (I've only plated for about two hours after the fix so not sure if it's truly a fix):

1. delete the Uncharted game data (not the game save data)
2. Run the "Restore File System" utility -- directions are here: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?message.uid=39144801
3. Insert the game and you should be able to play from one of your old save points.

So far it has worked for me.

I also did the following, which honestly, I don't think does anything, but some people recommended:
1. Choose the "classic" theme (the one without the "sparkles")
2. In system settings, set "Notification Messages" to "Do Not Display"
3. In system settings, set "Display [What's New] to "off"

Also, if this does not work, someone else suggested that the problem may be with the auto-save feature, so:

When ever you go to start a new game or load a specific chapter and it asks you to select a save file to overwrite or to create... DON"T... Cancel that selection and you'll be prompted by Uncharted that the game will continue, but it won't have the "AUTOSAVE" function enabled. Meaning you have to save it manually for the rest of the game. So before you turn off your PS3, save your game.

Best of luck.

Sorry to double-post (I was in a hurry). In my opinion, the firmware update corrupts the game data or something, because when you run the "restore file system" utility, it says the disk is corrupted and it must repair the disk. After doing this, I had no problem reinstalling the game and playing it. Just my two-cents (and I honestly don't really know what I'm talking about).

Thanks for the advice Rob. I tried all the steps, but it doesn't fix my problem with Uncharted. I just bought the Uncharted bundle on Monday and have only played through to chapter 5 - the fortress. The game locks up when I finish scaling the wall and enter the window. About 3 seconds after getting through the window, the game freezes up on me. I'm not sure if a cut scene is supposed to load (since this is my first time through the game), so perhaps that is what is causing the problems.

After I get to that point (when I load from chapter 5), my saved game is junk and trying to load it just gives me a black screen with a frozen medallion in the lower right corner.

Ahh well, time to read some reviews online of other games and make a midnight walmart run to get a new fix.
