I'm interested to see how to utilize the brush techniques. Glad to see the art style is the same.

I would like to see a HD okami on PS3. I loved the first one but I can't go out and get a DS just for this.

I don't know about playing this game on a huge HDTV. It took me a 30 minutes for my eyes to adjust to the art style on the wii...very trippy.

Seriously, there are like a million games in every genre on the DS. I'm sure you'd use it to play more than just this.

Prolly took some getting used to because the Wii isn't an HD console.

Upscaling PS2 games does not equal HD PS2 port. We'll see how Katamari does, but I want all my PS2 games to get the God of War treatment.

> I would like to see a HD okami on PS3.

Price of the game would be magnitudes higher than PS2/Wii version. You do realize that?

Perfecting all the art work into HD is one of a hell time consuming job. PS2/Wii/DS lower resolution helps to hide pixel-sized anomalies, which at HD resolutions would look bigger and uglier.

Too risky investment into the game with not so stellar sales. Probably at a later time - when vector graphics would reach consoles.

> I loved the first one but I can't go out and get a DS just for this.

... that's silly. Adventures are piles on DS.

DS(i) right now has probably largest game library. I'm not sure whether it has beaten PS2 yet, but if not it's getting there at steady pace. If you are gamer, that's the surest investment one make.

it sort of is zelda with a dog.

The dungeon areas are more organic so it's not as blunt when your inside. A number of zelda elements are similar to okami, but you don't have keys or anything really.

Okami is SUPER JAPANESE. So average americans may feel alien even though the language is english it feels very unique and odd.

I think the game will fit the DS better than any other console. I thought the wii pointer controls were clunky and didn't always recognize what i wanted.

Having it as touch screen will make it so much easier and strait forward.

That being said the game was to Japanese for me. I have no problem with the Japanese culture or different cultures however I just couldn't get into the story or characters because it felt so alien, so different than anything I have ever experienced.

Haters be damned, this looks freaking AMAZING, especially for a DS game.
It puts every other 3D DS game to shame, from what we've seen...although I'm concerned about how it'll control still, to be honest. I was really hoping for a primarily top down or 2/3 view above semi-permanent camera angle.

ALSO! I'm quite proud of the Joystiq havemind. There was hardly any bitching and moaning in the comments that this was a DS game and not a Wii or PS360 game...unlike nearly every other website.

Wait, this isn't for a console?

Count me out, good games come from consoles, not tiny little handheld pieces of garbage like the DS (more like BS!) or the PSP (more like PP!). I've never tried a handheld game that I like. And don't bring up Scribblenauts, we all know it's coming to WiiWare/XBLA/PS Store next year. I'll wait till I can enjoy it then on the big boy gaming platforms.

Who's with me!?

Anybody...?

I have no friends.

Have you seen Dragon Quest IX? Zelda Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks?

While I love Okami- I wouldn't say it looks better than those. I also realize that the game isn't out and it is in a rough state. Maybe someday it will be the best looking DS game with a 3D engine- but as it stands right now, for me it isn't.

It is a looker though.

Phantasy Star Zero is really impressive, I'll admit.

I think Okamiden outclasses the DS Zelda games by a country mile, though.
I have no comment on DQ9.

I really hope you're joking, Robin...

The DS and PSP definitely have their rather... blah-games, but they do have several gems.

Either you've never truly tried a good game on either handhelds, never played any of the handhelds, or you have such high standards for TAKE-WITH-YOU-consoles that you're ridiculous.

I also really hope you don't fight back with a list of games you've played... because anyone can make up a list by looking it up on Google, and claiming they've played it with "evidences" made up from review sites and walkthroughs.

..unless all the games you list, truly are suckquake.
In that case, list away.

Cel shading is how you do DS 3D right. DS games should all either be cel-shaded 3D or just 2D.

Hmm...that's the first time I've been downvoted...I guess I need to start labeling my "sarcastic" comments. I plan on buying Scribblenauts on the 15th and honestly...why would you take anything refering to the PSP as the PP or the DS or the BS...those weren't even funny.

That was the point of my joke. The fact that there are idiots out there that think they're "too hardcore" for handhelds. The fact that I used lame jokes, terrible reasons, and that I had no friends should of showed I wasn't serious...

But now the comments downvoted, people think I was serious, and my comments are all over the place because of the comment system...

I guess we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, i still find GTA: CW to be the sharpest looking ds game. Even though it had the classic viewpoint its still considered 3d and had more of a vector-like art style which is very similar to Okamiden. From a technical standpoint the winner may be Phantom Hourglass, but this game could still take the cake as the most appealing from an artistic standpoint.

The analog stick controls worked really well for the PS2.
It would work well for the PS3 as well...

But I often wonder about the 360...
Katamari died on the 360 due to the awkward analog positions. And it would be awkward with the bumper buttons for Okami.

The Wii probably could've done really well in controls if they added the option of using the nunchuk joystick+buttons instead.

Okami is really best suited for wii, but fell short of what it really coulld have been. If wii games could be updated and patched like on the other consoles and pc then the controls could have been refined and we'd have a bitchin' game on our hands.

But there's really no need to complain. It's 20 bucks new and relatively easy to find.
