So yes, prognosticator of all electronic entertainment Michael Pachter told Gamasutra that he expects Take-Two to release the fifth full Grand Theft Auto game in 2010. It seems far-fetched to us (especially with another GTA IV episode still in the pipeline). But, sadly, Pachter doesn't give us a lot to work with in the piece, so, in the absence of details, we're just going to assume he's right. Journalized.
One thing that's actually hard to argue about from the piece, analysts are overwhelmingly positive about Take-Two in 2010 with a bevy of big titles like BioShock 2, Mafia 2, Red Dead Redemption and several others. Does Take-Two even need a Grand Theft Auto next year?

it should come out in 2010 then it will be 3 years since 4 was SUPPOSED to come out. They need either a san andreas remake or a completely new city

You know, I would be perfectly fine with a GTA:SA remake with the exact same gameplay just updated graphics.

No, that's one of the things I hate about GTA IV is the controls.

I think we're going to be seeing the more realistic side of GTA for this generation at least. Aside from the "COUSIN, WANT TO COME BOWLING?!" crap, I felt that GTA4's more gritty feel was a great direction to take. It's not as replayable, because there's no jetpacks, harriers and miniguns, but I felt that the world was so well-realised that it was a constant pleasure to be in it.
Two things I think they need to work on:
- A gritty story doesn't really fit with super-stereotyped and shallow characters. Some were good, but how come every gay guy or ethnic dude in a Rockstar game is a walking caricature? How about something like any of the black characters from The Wire, or Kutner from House? If he was in GTA, they'd probably give him a turban and have him say "Thank you, please" at the end of every sentence.
- Better dedicated multiplayer. Like I say, the world of GTA was amazing and it felt great to be in it with other players, but they need to tighten up the modes and come up with ideas that fit the style of the game instead of cookie-cutter deathmatches and five-minute long co-op missions that get old after the first couple of plays.

Whenever it does come out, the things we're potentially seeing added (like parachutes!) with Gay Tony gives me hope that GTA will be fun again.

Ballad of Gay tony looks to have an overtop attitude, like the old ones, I hope the next one will be like this and in Vice City, but with swamps this time.

Seconded. There was no reason to take out all the fun stuff, it's not like they couldn't still pretend to be realistic and serious.

But being realistic and serious isn't GTA's style (until GTA IV)
Ever played the first one?

No I hate the top down view so I skipped 1 and 2. I want a GTA with the engine and graphics from 4, but with the fun of san andreas.

I know this is a very stereotypical troll thing to say, but Saint's row 2 is so much more fun.

I thought it was fun at first, then I got bored of it, so I moved on to Saints Row 2. When I did, I realized why Rockstar North took out all of the "fun stuff". Saints Row 2 was way too easy and ridiculous, fun for a few minutes that's all.
GTA IV can be just as fun if not better than San Andreas if you get used to the changes.

I like both the top down view and the 3rd person view of the newer games. I didn't like GTA IV that much either. I don't know if I would say they took all the fun out of it but I would say there needed to be more of the crazy missions. They did improve on some stuff which was good but overall it felt too much like a life simulator. Also, I don't see why they can't make the cars control like actual cars ... maybe call up the team that worked on Midnight Club L.A.?

Hmm... Come to think of it, where has crazy uncle Hirai been recently?

I don't know I mean realistically they ahve the next gen engine in place all they need to do is just focus on making a new game considering the last game was a year ago two years seems like a good amount of time
