EA's time with the NASCAR series has come to an end, at least for the time being, says EA Sports boss Peter Moore. Speaking with GameSpot UK, Moore said that the sports division of the mega-publisher has "no plans right now" to develop a new NASCAR title. Since debuting in 1997, EA Sports has developed nearly 20 NASCAR based racing games -- ending with the Wii-exclusive NASCAR Kart Racing in early 2009.
According to Moore, the company was forced to make "tough trade-offs," sending an undisclosed number of NASCAR developers to work on the upcoming -- and controversial -- EA Sports MMA title. Thankfully, EA has filled any void we'd have for the loss of one racing franchise with no less than sixteen Need for Speed games by the end of 2010*.
*We're exaggerating. We hope.

Those who want a true Nascar experience and have a PS3 can pick up Gran Turismo 5 as it's been confirmed to feature the Nascar license, team, tracks etc. I'm not sure if it features the chase for the cup or if it's just individual races but none the less it's an option. That is assuming the game comes out any time soon. Most of the EA Nascar games were nothing to write home about anyway. Let's hope the MMA games turns out better and has longevity when compared to their now defunct MVP Baseball and Nascar iterations. To be honest I'm glad they lost baseball because of an exclusivity deal between Take2 and MLB for multiplatform releases. This is why you see MLB The Show made by Sony on the Playstation products. I think the NFL has the same rules in place as I seem to remember an old school original X-Box game that featured Peyton Manning. Whatever ...

Whoops ...To finish my thought ... I'm glad EA lost it's baseball license to Take2 after the shit they pulled with the NFL getting rid of the superior product NFL 2K. Madden has come a long way since then and Madden 10 is pretty freaking awesome. Still, whats good for the goose is good for the gander and EA deserved to get PWNED by Take 2.

I believe GT5 has a limit of 16 cars on course at once. That's not going to simulate NASCAR all that well.

And onwards to Sony, hopefully Sony will treat Nascar as well as Sega did.

Sounds great that the gamers will get the sixteen franchise of Need For Speed till the end of 2010 but i think this collision between two companies might not be progressive as the owner of Need For Speed is not as co operative as Peter Moore...................................

cant say i blame them, with forza 3 and GT5 along with NFS shift coming not a lot of wiggle room in the racing sim market this year.

NASCAR, the only sport that only gets interesting when a red-neck forgets to turn left.

Who needs a new nascar game? Just buy one of the old ones and turn left endlessly there, it's the same damn game.
