wth! you can't record 3-d you need both lenses to converge the image.and thus making it pointless to pirate 3d movies in the theater.

I guess I'm the only one who don't mind the ad wallpaper. Actually, it's nice change to see something different in the background instead of the usual blue.

I'm sorry. Maybe I missed something along the way. What does he mean by "Buy a new TV?" The LCD televisions we currently have? A television specifically designed for 3-D purposes? Coroline does 3-D on a basic DVD people are using on tube televisions still. Can someone please clarify?

HA! Even the people speaking good of this 3D aren't speaking well enough of it. No, this isn't just another phase we are going through. This 3D has no color distortion and this 3D has DEPTH. It's not gimmicky, it's the future. HD and 3D are the future. In fact I think 3D will come before the next format comes out.

I had this on my sega master system. Man I loved that system.

Looked so cool but man it would give you the biggest headache after about 45 minutes.

Why do you morons even bother commenting on a subject you know NOTHING about?
The 3D technology is NOT the cheap paper red and green glasses you get with old 3D... the new technology uses polarized glasses, some use shutter glasses, and Panasonic is working on NO glasses.
Please don't talk anymore, it's embarrassing.

Any idea if my panasonic plasma 600hz 720p tv (TC-P42C1) will work with this form of 3D (it doesn't have a 3D glasses input)? I just bought it and can't afford a new tv (for another 5-10 years). No one seems to mention plasmas and I can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone.

Unlike most I'm pumped as bloody hell for this 3D thing to come out, I think it will revolutionize games.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

"If you're dying to look at a 3-D game right now, Engadget also captured a video of Wipeout HD being played in 3-D, which you can see above. For some reason, the 3-D effect doesn't come through when viewed in an embedded video recording -- even with the glasses in front of the lens. Sony really needs to work on that."

Are you joking? or just clueless?

I know some people are specifially alking about console gaming here but I find it really amusing when I read these threads with people saying they will never release mainstream games in 3d and thing like that.

I have a Zalman 19" 3D LCD plugged into my pc. It is a modern nice looking lonitor which uses passive polarised glasses (no electricty needed) and along with the NVidia Stereoscopic Drivers which support the Zalman displays, I can play all PC games in proper 3D. Games like GTA and Left for Dead are far more immersive when played in 3D.

Pretty much any game which uses direct3d is all ready to go in stereoscopic 3d. Games are all rendered which depth so the computer knows where to place objects in 3d space, All the drivers do is use that depth value to generate the 3d image.

Until you have actually used one of these displays and seen Lara Croft swimming above your keyboard you have no idea what this sort of tech looks like. You cannot got anywhere near the same effect with anaglyph glasses beacause as soon as you set the seperation high enough to start seeing real depth your eyes start seeing ghosting of the red blue glasses which destroys the effect.

With polarised glasses I can make objects jump out of the screen by about 10 inches. There is no better tech demo than Dream Aquarium running in 3d with fish swimming around right in front of your face.

My suggestion is before you all sit here moaning about the technology, go to a tech show and actually see some of this stuff in action.

3D will never die again because it never died in the first place. 3d gaming on pc's has been around for ages and isn' going anywhere.

The only reason why it dosn't take off I think is because you can't demo it. As engadget proved, how can you show people the stunning 3d effect when they are using 2d displays. And why would they buy a 3d display unless they have seen what it is like?

Once these displays hit the shops and people can see exactly what they do it will sart gaining momentum.

I personally can't wait for GT5 in 3d on a 110inch projection screen. :)

Matt.
