Because we like for you to have
options, we would like to present you with two ways to enjoy
Street Fighter IV at half-off:
- Take half off the title and play Street Fighter II
- Take half off the price and buy Street FIghter IV from Steam this weekend
Chances are you can do the former without
any expenditure. Look around your house -- you probably have a few copies of
Street Fighter II lying about. But we would strongly recommend that if you choose the latter option, you make haste to your nearest -- oh, right, you're probably already at your computer. Anyway, the sale is only active this weekend, so if you want to have a version of
SFIV you can put
Doraemon into, act now!

$20 is tempting.
Get to play some friends of mine who aren't on XBL.
The downside is that playing people with lacking systems makes the matches bog down apparently ?
Either way, it's pretty apparent that this sale is directed towards those who already own is on ps3/xbox, and maybe want to have a pc copy as well :|
CaramelZappa @ Sep 5th 2009 1:13AM
Or you know, aimed towards PC gamers.
Zach @ Sep 5th 2009 2:10AM
Yeah believe it or not there's people who don't have consoles. Like I have this PC here that can outdo any whimpy console so I picked it up just now. Thanks for informing me, Joystiq!
Dansk @ Sep 4th 2009 10:32PM
Yeah, whom would i play it with? Lag to any populated areas would be terrible. I'd be better off with Dawn of Discovery on Impulse :D
gonintendo @ Sep 4th 2009 10:35PM
The fuck is up with this background? scrolling is like a slideshow on my laptop. I thought that this was joystiq, not ign.
Einhanderkiller @ Sep 4th 2009 10:59PM
I doubt it's the image doing that. The background is only 90KB.
gonintendo @ Sep 4th 2009 11:15PM
Can you explain why it's fine after some adblockage?
Christopher Grant @ Sep 4th 2009 11:19PM
The skin isn't being served by an ad server (like Einhanderkiller said, it's pretty small) – perhaps the 300x250 ad unit up top is stuttering your browser? That's an ad being served by our ad platform and that unit has been on Joystiq since its inception. It has nothing to do with the skin and nothing to do with the quality of our editorial. If you make your distinctions between publications based on the advertising on the site, that's your prerogative, but it seems like a particularly uninformed way of deciding what to read.

^ damn son
HSOL @ Sep 4th 2009 10:35PM
Great deal, but I'll have to pass on this. SFIV was meant to be played on consoles. Even with that horrible 360 d-pad.
Platy @ Sep 4th 2009 11:01PM
Kawaks have to disagre with you ..... and those awesome 360 arcade pads that also works with the pc =3
...or a generic play2usb controler xD
Einhanderkiller @ Sep 4th 2009 11:04PM
One of the strengths of an open platform like the PC is the huge amount of customization possible. You don't have to play with a keyboard -- you can hook up a 360 controller or even the 360 SF4 joystick.
Nerdy Desi @ Sep 4th 2009 11:43PM
I actually play quite well with the keyboard myself, perhaps because I'm used to playing emulated fighting games like CPS-2 games (eg. Marvel vs. Capcom, Street Fighter Alpha 3, DarkStalkers, etc.) with the keyboard. : )
Nerdy Desi @ Sep 4th 2009 11:44PM
Einhinder is right, I love how customizable and flexible the PC platform is. Not only do I have a wide variety of control options to pick from, but also how to play the game. On a desk, hooked up to my TV, or even on a laptop, that is pretty darn cool if you ask me.
CaramelZappa @ Sep 5th 2009 1:19AM
Yea, like the others said, the PC allows you to do whatever you want with your games. It's possible to use the PS3 controller, Wiimote, 360 controller, fightpads, joysticks, blah blah blah. But beyond that it doesn't even limit you to sitting in a desk, I know not everyone has a recent computer but most laptops made in the last year or so have HDMI, so you could play the game on your tv with your 360 controller and the experience will be pretty much the same as those with the console version of the game. (But, you can take it with you on a plane)
Ridgecity @ Sep 4th 2009 11:05PM
Wow, isn't that frontpage ad a little too much? makes the site look like Ign...
mr nimblewick @ Sep 4th 2009 11:16PM
This is what all our compulsive commenting, trolling, arguing, etc. has gotten us. We gave them more page hits, they sold their hits to the highest bidders.
Christopher Grant @ Sep 4th 2009 11:22PM
Ridgecity – it won't be here long. This isn't a permanent addition.
mr nimblewick: you severely overestimate how much traffic we get from comments and commenting. A very small fraction; approximately 1/5 of 1% of our daily traffic. Often less.
mr nimblewick @ Sep 4th 2009 11:56PM
I find it amazing that you just have that statistic at the ready.
CaramelZappa @ Sep 5th 2009 1:22AM
It is a really ugly, intrusive ad. Capitalizing on the traffic from PAX is my guess.
Dave @ Sep 4th 2009 11:52PM
I don't know. I kinda enjoy Street Fighter II more than I do Street Fighter IV.
Backslash @ Sep 5th 2009 4:26AM
It's too bad my computer sucks too much for this game. :|
Mavrick593 @ Sep 5th 2009 10:50AM
nice. i am ijsut now building a kick ass compy and this will be perfect once all the pieces come in from CA. damn labor day weekend delaying everything.... oh damn, i just remembered i need a 360 controller. to Amazon I go!!!!! (ebay is actually MORE expensive it seems)
Alphathon @ Sep 5th 2009 1:30PM
Why am I so tempted by this? I already own it on PS3 and barelly play it as it is with my rediculous backlog (seriously it's running to around 80 titles now, most of which I havn't even started :s. At least I finally finished HL2ep2 a few weeks ago lol). Is it the ability to play in 1920x1200 with loads of AA? Is it achievements? Is it the fact I inherently love PC gaming more? Whats wrong with me? Gaaaahhhh!
s256 @ Sep 5th 2009 6:20PM
If your computer can't run this at 60FPS, please do us all a favour and don't play online. :(
I've had so many terrible-computer opponents it isn't even funny. Latency is rarely a factor.
