So I guess Sam went with the Prestige Edition Modern Warfare 2, right?

"Modern Warfare 2 on wii has bad graphics."

And you have a bad sense of relativity.

And isn't it only Modern Warfare 1?

Yeah, the Wii is only getting Modern Warfare this Fall, two years after it originally came out. I'm sure those Wii owners have already played it somewhere else or on another console they own.

I don't see it selling much at all.

Vinny and Ryan from Giant Bomb had a bet on this a couple months ago on the podcast. Vinny WINS!

"..enable[s] a black and white vision.." and "see through walls, with enemies glowing bright white"? That sounds like anything but nightvision to me. We'll have to wait and see what the word is on the next bombcast.

That was my very first thought (Vinny wins!). My second thought was, great, every game with guns for the next two years will have night vision goggles. Thanks, MW2.

@apoth

Splinter Cell's night vision has always been black & white. It's an aesthetic choice to make it look less bland than the usual green night vision of every other game.

What did they bet on? A shot of gin like the one Gerstmann had to do? Or was it 50 bucks?

@Leroy

Only the first two games had black & white night vision. The other 3 (both versions of DA) had a disgusting green color for their night vision. This vision mode sounds more like the EMF vision mode coupled with the thermal vision (since I believe thermal was the only one that could see through things, albeit only doors).

I remember DA had a set of unlockable full-colour NVGs too.

You're probably right, Rein. I have only played the first two games, so I didn't know they changed the colors later.

This is somewhat unrelated, but I thought it was a little strange that Infinity Ward took over the high pitched night vision goggle sound (you know, from the MW trailers). I always thought that sound was somewhat trademarked with Splinter Cell/Sam Fisher. Just thought I would bring this up.

I know I've associated the sound much more with Splinter Cell than MW.

Do real life goggles make that sound? (you know, besides doing nothing...)

Well if you look at the avatar clothing avalible on the marketplace

you'll see theres sam fishers outfit (it looks good lol)
then you have the elites outfit (the ones that bust in through the wall's,roof in the e3 demo)

then you have the splinter cell outfit
so i think he'll be back in his spy gear in the game mayby the final mission

No, the guys that bust through the window are the spys, not mercs. They probably had a merc suit on the Avatar marketplace because they're also back in multiplayer. If he's in a spy suit, it WON'T have red goggles, it'll have green. And maybe a balaclava too.

Those are infrared goggles then if you can see thorough walls to see peoples body heat. Green is night vision, not white.

Infrared(thermal) goggles can look like that.

I still think that Ubisoft took the wrong direction in the Splinter Cell franchise. They should have used the in-training Splinter Cells from Chaos Theory and made them the stars of the series. If that were the case this whole vagabond chapter of Fisher's life wouldn't have been necessary, and nobody would be worried about the goggles.

Well Shadownet made their debut in PT. They could have made them play a role in CT and then DA is where the transition is made.
OR
Play off the co-op from CT and make that a significant part of the story for DA instead of the Hisham storyline that made no sense to me.
