I guess girls are even less likely to play PC games than console games, unless someone has Sims 3 up there.

No no, there's one girl present. It's the guy right in the front of the picture playing by himself. You can see the sign on his screen.. You know, the one playing the cute children's-like game Plants Versus Zombies at a gaming convention surrounded by hundreds. Sure all the other people are playing together but I have no doubt he 's having fun playing children's games by himself :P

What a burn, Wes. I really don't get the point of going to PAX if you're just going to play Plants vs Zombies while you're there.

Casual games on the PC have some of the biggest female user share out there (a lot of flash games online have 70%+). On the other hand, I don't think anyone who brings their gaming rig to a gaming convention could claim to be in that same demographic :P

Have any spare cash? Acer released a nice laptop for $750 recently. It's a lot of money, sure, but it's a pretty good price for a gaming laptop with 8x blu-ray and hdmi.

Off Topic:

Stop complaining about the Dragon Age Origin ad on Joystiq, a few people act as if it's such a big deal. Go to IGN or GameSpot and then comeback here and tell me which is worst?

Last time I checked Joystiq doesn't charge for us for an Insider account or spam us with ads every time we click on an article.

/end rant

I actually find them quite a bit less annoying than the ads that used to be at the top of the page, the ones that would extend down if your mouse got anywhere near them. Those ads actually got on my nerves (accidentally clicking on them when trying to go to a different tab because they would spring under my mouse) and interfered with my use of the site.

These ads, these ads are great in comparison.

It's kind of funny to reminisce about all the ads that actually interfered with using the site (stupid hummingbird), and now watch people freak out over video games being advertised on a video game blog.

Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. Oh well I am not one of those people WSA 6'4" 245lbs and I exercise every day. I would love to see you say something like to my mother in front of me. Probably never happen though you are probably just an internet tough guy. I doubt very seriously you would say that to someones face. Just my thought. What do you think. Oh I am sorry you probably do not have a brain. I on the other hand will be happy to buy you a plane ticket to come here and see if you have the nerve to say that to someone I know.

I think that's the media's version of a gamer you're thinking about. With the exception of that yellow-shirted scarfed jewfro guy in the very front, they look quite normal.

Sorry about your mother IDUNNOLOL, but most people are fat because they eat too much and are lazy, and my mom's a dietitian. I dont even think he was referring to fat people, just some of them are very unkempt. Also, being "6ft 245 lbs" on the internet doesnt make you sound tough, you just sound like a dbag

Woah, "dunnolol" talk about missing the point....

Try not taking things people say on the INTERNET so seriously.

Longhorn was just making the (pretty valid) observation that gamers tend to look like scruffmuffins... Their weight wasn't even mentioned once.

what does a medical condition have to do with wearing good clothes and having a decent hairstyle and Im pretty sure none of these people have a medical condition (maybe vision problems)

Yeah. By no means am I trying to belittle PAX... cause it sounds like loads of fun... but how does a 400 computer LAN constitute 'one million billion'... even with extreme sarcasm? Quakecon gathers nearly 4000 pc's to their BYOC, and I know they aren't even the biggest LAN event.

Again, no hate... but 'one million billion?' It looks like a modest size lan with some extremely devoted PC gamers.

Nice job on the attempt at satire... but I feel it fell a bit short. But maybe I'm just a classic PC gamer that feels among those that have been discarded by the now overreaching Goliath that is the current gaming community... but it seemed like a weak attempt.

I really can't understand the rationality behind this: leave your basement and computer games, go to PAX, then play computer games there.
