Also: I actually do think John would be okay with it. The game can be expressed as an art form, as much as, in a way, the Beatles movies were.

Don't think Lennon hated "commercialism" THAT much - The Beatles movies would kinda prove that point invalid.

"Atleast these guys know how to pick up an instrument."

And play one song.

I know how to pick up an instrument, too. That's about it, though.

Also, you're an idiot.

I enjoy listening to Nickelback. I think what they said about music games is pretty bull though.

honestly foetoid i completely agree. I dont get all this nickelback hate. there really not that bad. Ive seen them in concert multiple times and they put on an incredible show. It just seems that if a band becomes popular to hate then EVERYONE will hate them just to be cool, and that is exactly why I hate the internet and the people on it because everyone is just an arrogant db that likes to think there opinion is all that matters. Its also the reason I never post on the internet this is just an exception. There are to many classic rock nuts and no im not saying im not a classic rock nut because I LOVE classic rock. I just like alot of difent kinds of rock including new rock. I know ill probably get downvoted but thats fine by me because either way i have stated my opinion and i know there are many out there that will agree with what im saying.

Wow...where were you when I got downvoted for claiming Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top liked Nickelback(which he does)? My favorite band is The Beatles, after that it's Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and after that it's AC/DC...then Cheap Trick. As far as I know...most Joystiq users love these bands...but since I like Nickelback, I'm automaticly downvoted...

My biggest problem with this is Guitar Hero is a music game and calling what Nickelback does, "music" is a stretch.

I actually like one of their songs, it is called "Leader of Men." I won't hate on Nickelback for their music. Some of my favorite bands (Korn, Disturbed, Marilyn Manson, Cannibal Corpse, Tool) get bashed on a lot by so called "old fans" and posers. I am not about to do the same thing to a band that I don't like.

I will bash on the lead singer for his comment regarding Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Stuck up musicians don't realize that people are playing a game when we pick up these plastic instruments and hit buttons to falling notes on a screen. We aren't trying to be like real musicians or anything like that. People who say "put down the plastic toy and pick up a real instrument" might want to add "put down the controller and go out and steal a real car" or "put down the controller, purchase a Batman costume, break into an asylum, and start beating up on the patients." We aren't playing these games because we are imitating life, we are playing these games to relax and step away from the norm. The same reason why many of us picked up a controller back during the Super Mario Bros. days. These stuck up musicians need to get off their high horses and realize what Rock Band and Guitar Hero are all about.

WOW kojo87 i never actually thought about it but those songs do match up really well. It still dosnt make me hae them tho cuz there are ALOT of new bands whos songs are startig to sound similar. Have you heard Rick Springfields new song victorias secret. It sounds ALOT like Jessies Girl. I just figure that by now so many songs exist its really hard towright complete originals. I know from experience (Im a guitarist) that its really hard to wright a song without it sounding like something else (its not impossible just kinda hard). but no i won`t hate on a band because of something like that. the tune may be similar but it has a different meaning so its still not the same.

I don't give a crap about Rock Band or Guitar Hero. That said, screw Nickelback and their crap rock. All of their songs sound the same and have the lamest lyrics in popular music. I think I'd rather listen to Kidz Bop than Nickelback.

The only Nickelback song I even kinda like isn't even a Nickelback song.

I feel dirty for liking it, though, and I worry that Elton John will find out and kill me in my sleep.

I love the idea of voting them down but he's appealing to the rather dumb (and far too large) section of console users.

The reason why the likes of MS can charge for avatar clothing is because the general public cannot think for itself, they're like a hive mind. The chances of someone voting down is remote at best.

I agree, it'd be the correct thing to do but we're dealing with halfwits.

Between these hayseeds, Godsmack, Slipknot and anything with the singer of Days of The New in it, there's always a reason to turn my car radio off. If my only tolerable local station didn't play so much of these bands it would be much easier.

I never knew what the main guy looked like, now I like them even less. I can't tell if he stole that haircut from a badly-groomed dog or a 90's soap opera reject.

Stop listening to the songs on the radio. Most of the time those are just geared towards the crowds. I love slipknot and Godsmack, but when listening to their albums I usually skip over the more popular songs because they don't always have that much creativity to them. You may not like the band, and that's fine, just don't base everything about them on two songs that you heard on the radio.

I live in alabama. maybe everyone who likes nickelback should be round up and moved here. It is impossible to turn on the radio without hearing nickelback or one of the various other butt rock clones such as daughtry and hinder (gag). Btw, creed is doing a reunion tour with Scott Stapp back at the front. http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/08/07/creed-come-full-circle-reunion-tour-kicks-off-with-set-of-hits/

there's plenty of shitty music that i find quite enjoyable (lets say something like Vanilla Ice. we all know its crap but damn if it ain't fun to listen to). and there's plenty of music that is musically fantastic that i don't want to listen to (lets say Johnny Cash. most of it i find boring but i'm not so ignorant as to deny that it is smart, quality music). it goes both ways. you just have to make an effort to find music that is both quality and entertaining. and guess what: 98% of the songs on the radio don't qualify.
