RB:AC/DC isn't like GH:Aerosmith AT ALL. AC/DC is a RB2 expansion pack pretty much. Aerosmith is a full game. Harmonix included a code to let you export all the songs from AC/DC into RB2. it was essentially the same as a track pack.

My 2 cents...

I love teh Guitar Hero games.. they are just fun to me... I prefer the setup on them over Rock Band's. But I'm not saying Rock band is bad either. I like it too just not much of a fan of the interface. That being Said.. Rock Band does have a lot more songs I like on it then say.. GH5.. which I just bought. I wasn't going to bother with GH5 or Van Halen at all since I liek both Sammy and David songs and with Van Halen you only get the David Lee Roth songs. But since I was able to get both games for the price of one it kinda lured me in. There are very few songs on GH5 I like but the game is still fun and I've been playing it all weekend. I like how they didn't put a huge emphasis about having 4 people to play this one for the achievements like Metallica (IMO the best GH game ever), and GH:WT did.. I never bought Smash Hits since I have the all the games prior to that. And Yes.. I bought Aerosmith because I'm a huge Aerosmith fan.. the game really wasn't worth the price but since I'm a fan I had to have it, and most people are correct, they could have used a much better selection of songs on it than they did, but I am still happy to have an Aerosmith game nonetheless. Now.. The Beatles.. I honestly could care less about, rather GH or RB made it makes no differance to me.

+1 for an intelligent comment
just goes to show you can like a game without being a RB-hater, or someone who just screams fanboy
i think from the time i had with the demo, GH:Metallica was a step in the right direction, nobody bought smash hits, and according to most GH5 is good, but with a mediocre track list, i'm not a gigantic fan of the beatles, i am getting the game regardless for the effort that went into it, but honestly, even as the RB fanboy i am, i have GHM higher up on my most-wanted list, just because i'm a metalhead. i appreciate the beatles and like a few songs, but bands like judas priest, venom, metallica, and others i just like more, i'm not bashing the beatles, i like a few of their songs, but they aren't in my top 10 bands
i respect your opinion about liking GH games, i like RB games better, but i had a good time with GH2, GH3, and hopefully will have a lot of fun with GH:M, and in response to people saying that GHM and GHSH being DLC for GHWT, the GHWT engine was total shit, at least they fixed the vocals in those 2

Guitar Hero is definitely still fun, and I will gladly play it, but some of the stuff that Neversoft or whoever pumps out the Guitar Hero games every 6 months does is simply not preferable to Rock Band for me.

Examples:
Some of the note charts in Guitar Hero are really ignorant. Especially their boner for artificially makes the game harder with three-note chords. The worst example of this is both the guitar and bass charts for Smells Like Teen Spirit. An extra fret for distortion on the same exact chords? And the failure of the bass charting on the verses of the song. I actually found myself overstrumming because I was so used to playing it on actual bass the way it is actually played. You may tell me to go play actual guitar if I want realism, but I'm trying to have some fun with my friends. It's not interesting to play real guitar while my friends play a rhythm game.

And then Guitar Hero's whole DLC import failure they did for World Tour to Guitar Hero 5. That might have been excusable for Guitar Hero 2 to 3, and the game will nevertheless sell millions, but we're living in a world where all our DLC for Rock Band worked in Rock Band 2 and we even got to play almost all of the Rock Band 1 songs in Rock Band 2 for a very small fee.

Pardon me if I come off as a Rock Band fanboy but I think I have some legitimate reasons for why I think Rock Band is a better series than Guitar Hero.

I was a huge guitar hero fan from day one, and i have 1-3 and Metallica. However, i gave rock band a shot last year and instantaneously fell in love with it. So when the time came along to purchase a full band game, i didnt even have second thoughts in choosing RB2 over GH:WT. And it looks like i made the right choice. and although guitar hero is getting close and trying hard to catch up to rock band, its pretty disappointing to see them marketing features for GH5 that have already been in rock band, and they need to stop RIDICULOUSLY overcharting the songs. I seriously put my head down in shame when i saw a FOUR BUTTON chord come up at the very end of master of puppets in GH:M, and i think quite highly of that game.

This spoof was so spot on. I spent a lot of time wondering why Activision always manages to only include a handful of tracks from the monster artists that they make games around. If Activision had gotten their hands on this before Harmonix, they would have ripped it to pieces, stomped on it a few times, dropped it off a tall bridge, set it on fire, then released it to the public as "only the best music game ever". Thank you Harmonix for getting to this one first. We love you!

Veko, that is the most mind-bogglingly hypocritical thing I've ever read in my entire life.

In my first post I said how lame the Van Halen game is. Also, I don't deny that there are way too many Guitar Hero games. However, that doesn't mean there aren't good ones to be found.

If you legitimately think that Guitar Hero Metallica and GH5 are bad games, then you are a bad person and should have your opinion card revoked.

10-10-10? GH12? Joystiq you really underestimate Activision. I bet it would be GH25 by then.

I'm getting both music games, Beatles Rock Band and Guitar Hero 5. But I will admit, Guitar Hero DLC is bollocks.

But for the record, World Tour sold more than Rock Band.

I will never understand fanboys. I have Guitar Hero II (for the Xbox 360) and have the following for the PS3: Guitar Hero III, Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, Guitar Hero Metallica, Rock Band (although I never use the game disc since I only have the World Tour drums and they don't work in it), Rock Band 2, the AC/DC Rock Band track pack, and I plan on picking up The Beatles Rock Band (even though I am not really a Beatles fan, it look really fun). What is wrong with either Guitar Hero or Rock Band? I have said it once and I will say it again; fanboys will be the death of gaming. Let's face it, neither platform is perfect. It is true that Guitar Hero 5 could have been DLC. However, the same can be said for Rock Band 2. That could have easily been DLC instead of a whole new game. I am glad that Rock Band 2 was released as a new game as it is the only way for me to use my World Tour drums with that franchise.

As for the video (the topic at hand), I thought it was funny. A nice take on what could have been with Activision and Neversoft. It made me laugh whenever they showed off the 8 guitar/drum mode and the comments regarding Rock Band.

to be fair, neither GH5, nor RB2 could have been DLC, they had a lot of changes for both, GH5 has a new engine entirely, and a whole bunch of multiplayer modes, RB2 had a world tour where band members could play different instruments than the ones assigned, and you could play it online, plus it had the drum trainer
i think both of those would be too big to patch into RB1 and GHWT, and the wii doesn't allow patches

it's too bad gamers have more respect for titles than authors. It shouldn't be any surprise that RB is the better series, when GH was born from the work of Harmonix, not Neversoft or Activision at large. Why would anyone expect GH3 and the rest to be any better, or even as good, as the ones who are responsible for the success of the genre in the first place? RB is the true successor to GH2; it never was GH3, which always seemed like a wolf in sheep's clothing. The devotion to GH is completley unjustified, very much a religion. Stick with those who know what they're doing and not those who want to profit off the other's ideas. Stick with Harmonix, not Guitar Hero.

i like the RB platform better than the GH games, but seeing what neversoft did with the series with GH5, and even the good they did with GHM, i have at least some respect for the series now, i will be getting GHM and TBRB as soon as i can, and maybe even GH5 if they support GHM exporting, and has some good DLC in the coming months

The GH: Beatles bit made me think of something. Is GH: Van Halen going to have any actual Van Halen songs or will they all just be Van Hagar. Sadly, I'm guessing it'll be Hagar.

As much as I am a Harmonix supporter- I did buy Metallica when it came out and enjoyed it quite a bit. The one thing that kept it from being amazing was that I just kept thinking about how much better it would have been if it were Harmonix that had did it instead of Neversoft.

GH:M was a far step up from GH:A, and it was quite well put together, but honestly, it felt like a cash-in because of how quickly it was thrown out the door. I'm sure Neversoft could have given it more polish with more time, so I don't fault them together.

GH5 is a big improvement, too, but some stuff still doesn't "feel" right.

Activision's reputation (and Neversoft's to some extent) certainly don't do them any favours.

That should read "fault them altogether", rather. It was very well put together for the time they were allotted, that's for sure.

I don't want special discs for every band. I want one game that allows me to download the songs that I want, and ignore the songs that I don't want. So, from my perspective, of COURSE I like Rock Band better!

I was even pissed off when RB2 came out, because I'd rather all those songs been DL's, and the extra features it added weren't really worthy of a whole new release... they coulda added that stuff in patches.

But I'll be honest, when RB Beatles was announced I was pretty stoked. I mean, depending on how it's treated... I'm hoping it'll be a whole psychedelic adventure thing. Otherwise, yeah, I'd rather have it just all DLC for RB.
