Oh I forgot about those. Do they work with Rock Band though? And the article only mentions Europe, are they out in the US?

Can we trade? Europe gives you all the crappy singstar stuff they throw at us, and we get some decent deals and release dates on RB peripherals?

Don't all mics work on all games.

@Black Lantern

They have them in the UK but you they had to cater for the PS2 SingStar market as well so they have batteries and need a dongle receiver plugged into the console.

Harmonix should be embarrassed by how long it has taken to get the patch for RB2 out.

By the way, I've used the LIPS wireless mics in GH5 and they work quite well.

They want to release it at the same time as RBN, otherwise Microsoft would charge them for the second update.

I dont understand WHY MS and Sony didnt include drivers for their mics in the dev kits and make them mandatory for music games from the start...hell I'm still upset that the Singstar Wireless mics arent Bluetooth....I mean I know they did it that way because they wanted it to be compatible with the PS2 but hell...they could have just made some BT ones as well for the PS3

Gamestop has the single mikes priced at $50, right next to a LIPS pack with two mikes for $40. I'm really curious if anyone was buying those individual mikes...

Yup they work with TB:RB but I've been waiting ages for the RB2 update... I heard that they work with the Country Track Pack for Rock Band, so my guess is they are just waiting to bundle the patch up with the RB Network release.

I'm really upset with how long the RB2 patch has taken. We've heard about them supporting Lips microphones since January, and the they said they were working on the patch for this and improved score tracking. Then they said they are working on a patch for RBN.

Honestly, I'd rather have 3 patches than one giant patch at the end of the year. I've been waiting for improved score tracking for ages, and their competition has had support for Lips microphones since GH: Metallica. I mean, the patch is going to be great, but I'd rather have these features sooner than later. I understand that RBN still has some kinks to be taken care of before release (They want it to be perfect, I don't blame them!), but Lips support HAS to be done by now. Hell, the code is already there in TB:RB, so it's just a matter of releasing it.

think of it from a company stand point, lips is just a xbox thing, the score tracking and RBN are xbox and ps3, why prioritize on system when you can prioritize both systems. That and the lips isn't negatively affecting anyone. everyone can still play the game just fine, its just an added convience to be able to use the lips mic.

MS has been advertising and selling the wireless mics for several weeks. On the package it says they work with Rock Band (*with software patch). The ads I've seen don't mention a patch. I'd say people who have purchased the mics expecting it to work in RB are "negatively affected."

Do these mics have a d-pad/buttons on them or do you still have to use a controller to navigate menus? I quite like my wired Logitech mic with the d-pad etc built in.

They do not have a D-Pad but have a sensor built into them so you control by swinging the mic in a direction.

Download the ad video for "Lips" (the one with the shy girl at the party) then tell me if anyone if that room would be caught dead with a MS product.

Yeah. Almost a year and we still dont have it. "Soon" isnt good enough HMX/MSFT , tell us what the deal is and commit to a real date. Jeeze. I bought these mics because in 2008 your promised it was coming. Clearly no one thought it would take a year.

Good for you GH franchise.

I wrote a review on Amazon about this Mic not working with RB2 yet. If you guys are interested here is the Lips bundle with 2 mics and 1 copy of Lips. Not a bad game in my opinion. Lots of DLC but when your into RB2 as much as I am... it's hard to purchase any of the DLC without wondering if it is going to be in RB2.

OK let me get 2 things straight here. This is exactly the same as the Lips mics right? Secondly, How do we know that the patch for RB2 is coming out later after RB: Beatles? From everything I've read it all points to the patch coming out tomorrow or Weds?

So unless I missed some news, I'm lost.

The MS Wireless Microphone and the Lips microphone are one and the same. The little hardware pamphlet that comes in the Lips bundle says "Microsoft Wireless Microphone" across it. Don't be confused by the price hike. This is the same Microsoft that charges an arm and a leg for a 120GB laptop drive or a wireless network adapter.

The Lips mic works right away with TB:RB as well as some of the newer RB2 track packs (Country Pack at least) and some guitar hero stuff. The RB2 patch is coming "soon" which means whenever they feel like it.
