The Batman remains atop UK sales charts
For a second consecutive week, Batman: Arkham Asylum has countered the incoming blows of Wii Sports Resort, leaving the brooding hero perched at the very top spot of the UK sales charts. Chart Track notes the Dark Knight's sales are down 27 percent in the second week, a slide softened by Sony's PlayStation 3 price drop.
The real beneficiary of Sony's slim console is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which shot up seven spots on the charts with a 128-percent increase in sales. The PS3 versions of COD: World at War and Fight Night Round 4 also got a bump after the drop.

Special Agent Steve @ Sep 7th 2009 2:19PM
Once the PC version is released, sales will jump a lot.
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 7th 2009 2:30PM
I meant, even more.
sony boy (6 years til sony man child!) @ Sep 7th 2009 2:39PM
meh, not really.
The Baron @ Sep 7th 2009 3:01PM
Problem is that by doing the delayed PC release to reduce early piracy, they also cripple that version by having a lot of potential customers buy the console version anyway.
Still, I'm buying the PC port day one.
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 7th 2009 3:14PM
The PC port has implemented PhysX the best out of any game to date. Combat looks much sweeter with papers flying everywhere and steam flowing around you.
All my friends on Steam are hyped.
Oh, and the early torrent doesn't even work- you can't beat the game because of some glitch. (I just wanted to try it out, I'm still buying it day 1).
PSN: John-Paul-Jones (Led Zeppelin) @ Sep 7th 2009 3:59PM
@ The Baron
Rocksteady delayed it for a good reason - to beef up the already amazing graphics. That kind of dedication and the universal unanimous praise it's been getting doesn't deserve to be pirated. Faithful PC gamers and I think even pirate junkies will no doubt purchase Batman: Arkham Asylum
The Baron @ Sep 7th 2009 5:59PM
No, the press release said it was to beef up the graphics. Funny how every PC port takes 2-3 weeks for the same thing. You'd think they'd start factoring it into the dev times.
Fullmetal Salchemist @ Sep 7th 2009 10:01PM
I don't have a PC, but based on the PhysX videos I've seen, I'd say it's worth the slight delay.
Longhorn Slim @ Sep 7th 2009 2:21PM
mhmm Still not $10
stop buying it
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 7th 2009 2:27PM
Geez asshole. We get that you dont want to pay 60 bucks for it because you dont think it's worth it despite not having played it, but to tell other people to stop buying it?

Oh snap. Dark Wayne, with all his stealthy billionaireness, crept inbetween Longhorn and I's comment, and not it looks as though I'm talkin' to Wayne.

tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 7th 2009 2:30PM
How about we make a deal.
You buy Batman, and everyone else in return will stop buying Wii Sports. Sound good? It does to me.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Sep 7th 2009 2:33PM
Tmac...Wii Sports? or Wii Sports Resort?? cause Wii Sports comes with a Wii....that wont stop anytime soon....lol
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 7th 2009 2:34PM
Resort obviously, that's the only one you can buy.
Mr. Manly ESC Mcbeefington Ferguson The Second @ Sep 7th 2009 2:39PM

lol...that wont stop selling for at least 3-5 years
CaramelZappa @ Sep 7th 2009 2:42PM
Right, because your taste in games should govern what everyone else spends their money on.
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 7th 2009 2:42PM
I can dream can't I?
Hife @ Sep 7th 2009 3:01PM
You're making 3 things that I like look bad: inFamous, LBP, and the Longhorns. Quite a feat.

Still not £10. Not buying.
*Drums fingers on board, stares at price comparison site, brow sweats profusely*
Okay, still not £20. Not buying. £25 max. Maybe...
johnnynumber5 @ Sep 7th 2009 3:39PM
I bought Batman [against my better judgment] and haven't been able to play more than a few hours because I can't get into it at all. I fail to see the appeal beyond it having Batman, Joker, Croc etc ... I would say that I think Infamous, Red Faction: Guerilla and Killzone 2 are easily superior to Batman Arkham Asylum. But, I do want to force myself to play the game more before I completely write it off and make a final determination. It's just that I've found myself wanting to play Madden 10, Infamous and Burn Zombie Burn instead of Batman.
If anyone played the Watchmen downloadable games they will probably agree that the combat mechanics are nearly identical. I'm not sure if thats praise for Watchmen: The End Is Nigh or an indictment on Batman Arkham Asylum. I can't get past the simplistic level design and clunky combat to enjoy the atmosphere, gadgetry, riddles and Invisible Predator mode. The aspect I have most enjoyed thus far is the in depth character bios you unlock as you progress through the title.
I'm going to play it all day and night after work and really give it a fair shot to make me a believer.
Obie @ Sep 7th 2009 3:51PM
@Johnny5: Obviously you are a robot, for your complete lack of fun..and enjoyment of bland information.

Finally I can look at all these sales charts and not feel like humanity might need a mass sterilization.
SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Sep 7th 2009 2:32PM
Completely agree. It's nice to see a great game get recognition for once.
johnnynumber5 @ Sep 7th 2009 3:58PM
That sounds like the rhetoric of Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Saddam, Ceausescu, Mugabe, Castro, Niyazov, Jong-il, Al-Assad, Mussolini, Marcos, Khomeini and every other cult of personality figure the world has seen.
It's good to see that you don't take the whole video game and non-confomist views too far or anything. Heaven forbid someone wants to play Wii Sports or Eye pet instead of Batman Arkham Asylum. Whats next, T-Mac? You going to consider using Auschwitz gas chambers full of zyklon b on all the non conformist?
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 7th 2009 4:04PM
It's crossed my mind a few times.
Mr Khan @ Sep 7th 2009 5:26PM
enjoy it while you can ;) The number of perennial Wii titles is only going to grow.
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 7th 2009 5:28PM
You mean with the 1 "big" game they have coming out this holiday season? (and I use big figuratively, don't consider what is basically a DS port a big game)
OMGOMG @ Sep 7th 2009 2:26PM
I finally beat the game this morning.
SPOILERS??!!
I was a little disappointed with the ending. All the way until Killer Croc's lair, I thought the game was incredible. After that, it went downhill a little. It's still awesome, but it went from an elite game to just "great".
That's just me though. Still my favorite game this year. I agree with GI's 9.5/10.

Well honestly after the scene before the final fight I wanted to fight the Joker as a giant Bane-like Batman.
Chris D.(PSN: Aggie_CEO | XBL:The Aggie CEO | Steam: Aggie_CEO @ Sep 7th 2009 2:56PM
I kinda did too...but I cant remember a storyline where that happen....
Courtney @ Sep 7th 2009 9:04PM
I fully agree with you. Without getting into spoiler territory, the boss fights were probably the weakest part of the entire game. Bane would have been fine, had they not copied that fight several more times.
creyes4182 @ Sep 7th 2009 2:28PM
I beat the game a while back I still play it a couple of hours a day. Challenge rooms are awesome!
David [Steam: ZayCube] @ Sep 7th 2009 2:29PM
The PC version has so many bugs..
WINterfang @ Sep 7th 2009 2:29PM
Batman looks so awkward on that picture, like he put the camera on a timer and it's gonna send it to his grandma.
mars @ Sep 7th 2009 2:30PM
i'm savoring it right now. but i'm amazed at how little i've completed after all the time i've put in. it says i'm only 25% in! the longer the game takes the better for me, and then I still have another playthrough for some riddler trophies, and then the challenge maps. this game was definitely worth it to me
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 7th 2009 2:32PM
You can only get about 85%-87% doing everything in single player. The other 15-13% is getting top ratings in each of the challenge rooms, which is pretty hard.
B3astofthe3ast @ Sep 7th 2009 2:32PM
It's amazing how CoD4 continues to sell, even with a newer CoD on shelves. I guess even regular consumers know the difference between IW and Treyarch.
mars @ Sep 7th 2009 2:43PM
I think its just more that people judge their purchases on what the game's catch is, and people are tired of WWII. they look at the back, see the same graphics on both games, but one is present day with badass weapons, the other is old and outdated
