Better than car analogies. Car analogies are like moldy cheese in which they smell, taste and look bad.

Also better than sports analogies. Sports analogies are like Twinkies, they look good on the shelf, but once you taste them, you realize they are just old, stale, and have been hanging around since the 1940's.

I understand where they are coming from. I bet DICE is really busy making BF3 and BC2. Once they have time, they can re-make some 1942 maps and it'll make it easier for them as well.

and how will they have more time then? They'll be too busy patching and fixing bugs in BF3.

Just like they have to do with every major BF release.

1943 was a quick cash-in on an old IP. It was basically a texture mod with nerfed classes. If you bought it thinking otherwise then you have only yourself to blame.

Come the FUCK on guys!

PUT
OUT
SOME
GOD
DAMNED
MAPS.

Charge ten bucks for 5-7 new maps and THAT IS ALL WE FREAKING NEED.

We don't need new weapons, we don't need new classes, WE JUST NEED MORE MAPS. The gameplay is both simple and complex at the same time but above all, the heart of the game is at the battlefield itself. The map you play on determines what behavior the player needs to take and some of the most intense battles I've ever played in a shooter have occurred in 1943.

DICE, take 2 weeks to CHILL on the upcoming titles and PUT OUT SOME FREAKING MAPS ALREADY!

God, at this rate, I'm actually contemplating taking this further. It's bullshit that a great shooter on arcade is being so neglected like this, maybe we need to take action and get the message to DICE more efficiently.

This decision sounds good at first but if you think about it they're taking a risk. Instead of maintaining the content and gameplay of an existing franchise that has already proven to make money right now they are focusing completely on future games that may not even sell that well. I would think that no matter how many resources have been devoted to the newer bf games you should still save enough time and resources to focus on what is making money right now. How do you think valve created such a following with counterstrike and team fortress? And lets not forget unreal tournament. I'm not saying neglect new games but ea has a proven track record of pushing their studios to put out sequel after sequel just because its a new year. (Looking at you madden, sims, nba live, nhl, nascar racing, tiger woods golf, etc)

Sigh, I remember when maps were free extras. Anybody from the BF1942 days remember Coral Sea and the Invasion of the Phillipines maps?

Hell, even Massive Entertainment put out three high grade maps for their three-year old game World in Conflict. I love it when developers put that much love into their games.

Yep. Do you remember when they remade Wake Island (again) using the BF:V engine for nothing, just because they thought it would be fun?

That's a third of BF1943 they made in their spare time.

Those days are long gone. Thanks to PC game pirates and micro-transaction users for forcing developers to aim for consoles and then sell everything from boots to bullets.

So... do they have a policy against patching bugs, too? BF1943 is a half-broken game, which sucks because I love it.

(I haven't played in a while. It may have been patched already, but I seriously doubt that.)

And this is why Dice survives and Grin is no longer.

Well maybe they could pick up some former Grin employees on the cheap to port some maps.

"A hundred grand and my left nut" says they've seen the light with Zipper Interactive's 'MAG' and asked themselves, "Why are we screwing around with something like this, when we can make Battlefield 1944 like that with 256 players? So, they don't want to waste their time working on a small fry, when they're seein the reaction MAG is getting from gamers. Its EA's same stratagy for years. Hm... Resident Evil 4 is getting a lot of attention and Capcom's making a lot of money off of that, team, duplicate it. EA needs more money. Next, "Look at God of War! That game is wrackin up a lot of friggin money! Team, work on a game called Dante's Inferno. Why didn't we think up anything like that." How fitting it is that Peter Moore goes to work for EA, when EA has the same mentallity that Microsoft has. We can't be innovative and creative ourselves, so we'll wait for someone else to develop it, and to compete, we'll copy. Because we're PC's. PC's are all about business. We know MAC has the creative side. Rather than trying to develop software people will use in offices, they're trying to bring out the creative side in people who want to do photography, film, music and art. EA and Microsoft are a lot alike.

Shut the fuck up joystiq... it's not you who created the game or something. You have to respect their decision like any other decent company does

They are busy alright, they are so busy with BC 2 and BF3 that they screwed the PC fans over by delaying 1943 PC a second time, and not just a delay of a month or two, but SEVERAL months. Then shot themselves in the foot by releasing it the same time as BC 2. But I'm figuring by the time the release date rolls around for BC 2, they will release news that BC 2 is being pushed back.

Where did I say they promised it to us?

I'm saying it's absolute bullshit that a game as good as this doesn't get DLC, when games not as good do.

Like that freaking mahjong game on live, it had DLC on day one and was probably crap that should have been included in the game.

My ranting boils down to this: I want new maps and I have money I will give to DICE for them. I really really really want new maps.

How about BF2143 instead? I loved 2142 as it was easily the best online shooter I have ever played, closely followed by BF2MC. 1943 has been good fun, but I play it less and less all the time, mainly due to the stupid red triangle that sits over my head. MW just doesn't cut it online for me, the maps are too small for hiding and sniping properly!
