Good call. I didn't read the article, but the early 20th century works just as well. In fact, maybe they could overshadow the whole game with a sense of the impending end of the era of the Wild West. There's a whole lot that they could do with that.

I expect PETA to be all over this because "It teaches children that shooting animals is ok" don't mind theat the game is rated M, they will definitely try to boycott this ¬_¬.

I learned a lot about PETA from a good Penn and Teller Bullshit episode. They are pretty much the worst organization ever.

You just have to kill it first.

And skin it.

So it's like wild west GTA but with a more realistic, less hideously over-the-top tone?

Me likey

Red Dead Redemption, for all it's "in the middle of two game companies" game design, was an awesome game...

I'm not sure what this franchise would be like if Capcom still had the rights, but Rockstar really seems to be running in the right direction with it.

I hope it's a gem!

Animal Rights!
Yeah, right, PETA killed any hope of people actually caring due to their extreme suckiness making the whole field a joke.

As for the game, I really dislike the Western genre (Blazing Saddles don't count) in general, but I really like how they made this one in particular cool. The painting and slowdown business in particular sounds like a blast.

Can you kill children, or does it have the Fable 2/Fallout 3 "kill anyone but children" thing going on as well?

I was thoroughly disappointed by GTA IV and sold it after just a little while. I have high hopes for RDR though to satiate my random killing urges.

LIke someone earlier said, I want a dev to have the balls to put kids in the game, not so I can go around killing them all, but just for the fact that not everyone in the west was a 40 year old outlaw.

I mean, Fallout 3 did it, you just couldn't hurt them, which I found funny as hell just to imagine what was going through thier head that made them decide to make them impervious.

And before you call me a sick basterd because I tried, go to Little Lamplight, and DON'T try to shoot them. Unless your Jesus, it ain't gonna happen.
