Is it just me or does it look like the character models have taken somewhat of a step back to the last gen?

GTA 3/VC/SA were awesome... 4/LD and this one are not really wowing me... I couldn't even stay entertained enough to finish 4

I couldn't finish GTAIV either, but it wasn't because of the character models. It just wasn't very fun.

I want to hear about this "roller coaster riding, M16 shooting, two girls at the same time" expectation that GTA4 wasnt.

GTA4 was awesome, how is this game not fun? Is it because Niko's forearms arnt the same size of the thighs on a Kentucky Derby winning stud, and his hands absent of a gun/chainsaw?

It was just boring. That's pretty much the extent of my opinion. Then again, I was never really much of a fan of GTA in the first place. All I ever did in GTAIII was ride around running people over. That may be sufficient entertainment for a 14 year old (that's how old I was when the game came out), but that sort of thing gets old after a while.

Plus, having to entertain your friends/girlfriend was bullshit.

My second statement there was just a general statement about the games, not just the graphics. Sorry I didn't clarify..

I was REALLY hyped for GTA4 before it's release and when I was starting into it it seemed awesome.. but it just lost its appeal very quickly and the whole ordeal just seemed much more repetitive and mundane than before...

Not to mention the new physics engine which made everything (read: DRIVING) much more realistic but alot less fun.

It's a a pure opinion thing, but at the very least I know many who share it. I was a huge GTA person and Rockstar could do no wrong... Manhunt, Bully, The Warriors... all awesome games.

But something about GTAIV just didn't click in that magical way for me.

GTA IV was indeed boring if you played all of the other GTAs. It just didn't offer much more that was unique. Story was adequate for a game, but nothing interesting.

That said, it's hard for me to go back to the older GTAs (exception to Vice City).

IV wasn't a bad game by any measure, it's just that fans are expecting more now. This isn't madden we're talking about where you can put on a new coat of paint every few years and get away with it.

I can see how some people may not like the physics engine because things like driving could be hard but for some people its very flattering because it leaves room for skill (which seems to be missing in most games).

For example I may be a decent "driver", but I'll find an amazing driver on 'Live that Ill want to recruit when playing Cops 'n Crooks.

P.S. Cops 'n Crooks rivals that of Halo, Gears, Modern Warfare, for most fun had online.

nofriendo: I can definitely understand the case for some games that driving is a very well tested skill that takes awhile to master (Gran Turismo), but in the case of GTA I felt that is just detracted from the overall gaming experience.

And either way, trust me, if the physics engine was my only gripe, I would have sucked it up and called it a great game. (For example: Mass Effect is a VERY buggy game and probably needed much more playtesting, but that doesn't detract from how awesome it is.)

The more important statement that I made was where I stated that the game quickly became mundane, repetitive, and boring.... in my opinion.

I actually really liked GTA4, I liked that it was grittier and more realistic, it made the whole experience more immersive and satisfying. The missions were fun and the stories were decently written. My biggest disappointment was that beyond the missions, there's nothing to do, no reason to keep playing.

As a hardcore GTA fanatic, I was VERY let down with the lack of content variety in the main GTA4. But having finished it three times and starting it more than seven, I'd have to say TLAD is MUCH better. This is in part due to lowered expectations that came with the experience of having played GTA4, and in part due to the subtle improvements to the gameplay formula and story structure, as well as giving a more complete view of the crime saga of Liberty City.

Those who took issue with GTA4 should still buy EFLC. If BOGT is as much of an improvement over TLAD as TLAD was over GTA4, EFLC will be the MUCH better purchase; especially for those new to GTA/GTA4.

Yes, there's supposed to be a new car based on the Bentley Continental. Plus it has all the superbikes from TLAD, so I'd expect a proportional amount of new high-end cars.

GTA4's free mode revolutionized online multiplayer. Please explain how out of like 16 different multiplayer modes not one them was fun. That just doesn't even make sense. For fuck's sake I'd almost pay $60 for Cops 'n Crooks alone and pretty soon a shit ton of other people actually will except it'll be called APB. However, maybe you just like the same old deathmatch with slightly different guns and maps.

@WRE from what i've heard, you may be alone on the opinion.
I've played the multiplayer, I like how it feels seemless, but it felt like, "When i'm bored, i'll pick this up."
(THIS IS ALL BASED ON MY OPINION OF WHEN I RENTED IT AND A COUPLE PEOPLE WHO OWN IT)
Sorry for all caps.

Hopefully the next full GTA will have improvements that end up making the MNP more fun... like moving around for one. The characters feel so stiff and sluggish in GTA4... wtf happened to the improvements euphoria was supposed to bring. Brink's S.M.A.R.T. terrain navigation looks as smooth as I'd like GTA4 to control.

And of course some more of that magical "stuff to do" that SA had and GTA4 didn't.

So excited. The ability to replay missions (AND be scored in them) on demand is a VERY welcome addition that frankly should have arrived with San Andreas. Those Zero missions were awesome fun!

Well here another "lame statement"... Wow you went right into fanboy defense mode, that was crazy "like I was even attacking the 360". Seeing as I said nothing bad about the 360 or GTA4 as a game. Microsoft cant pay for a 24hr defense lawyer as good as you. Any way's this about the game & like I mention before GTA4 is a great game and Dlc does look fun, but why any one who has a PS3 save game data would go outta there way to go get a copy of the 360 game just for single player Dlc that you can wait a year or so to ported over or build into a "game of the year edition" dis for the 360, PS3 & PC. And yes I know you do not need the save to play the dlc but I would go back to playing Mr Bellic every now and then.

So a lot less important my "shitty website" you don't like it amm oh well... It's not the looker I know that but it does it's job hosting the podcast. But hey I know at lest a few people like it because if they didn't they wouldn't give us free games to talk about on our random show.
