Dante's Inferno 'Greed' promotion is the least offensive yet

click to epic poem-sizeAside from the special totally metal wallpaper image made for the occasion (and downloadable in our gallery), the latest Deadly Sin-inspired promotional tactic for Dante's Inferno fails to offend our sensibilities at all. Maybe this was the reason for the fake protest, repugnant booth babe contest and arm-shaped cakes -- to make us feel not just relieved, but grateful for marketing that doesn't make us ashamed of our industry.

So what is the "Greed" promotion? According to EA, pre-ordering the game tomorrow from GameStop will get you savings of $6.66 (get it?). Is it even greedy to spend $53.33 instead of $59.99? That's a lot of money coming out of your pocket either way. Taking advantage of a small discount like that sounds prudent to us. Almost virtuous.

A bit retarded. I think the promotion would've been a lot more hilarious if they had jacked the price up instead by twice or three times. And for those... weird... people that actually do pre-order it at that price wouldn't be charged that much so as to avoid any real opposition for ripping off consumers.

I think so, I was thinking about that too =] I guess I'll pick up GOW then rent out Dante's Inferno. 09'-10' is going to be a great time for a gamer like me lot's of releases ! Going to start saving lol

I was half joking. I do think it looks extremely bad after watching several videos, gameplay and non. We will see though.

I'll gladly pick this game up if it separates itself from the god of war release date a bit.I just don't like picking up two games of the same genre so close together in.

Hey JC, the focus of this $6-discount promotion is EA's greed, not the consumer's... so it fits perfectly!

I just hope this game is not an epic failure like Jericho, which still gives me nightmares of how bad it was and my hard-earned cash was burned away to hell when trying to summarily sell it on Ebay...

GameStop is greedy enough for everyone. If buying some poor suckers $60 game for $25 in store credit and then selling it for $55 isn't greedy, then what is?

I know...it's so terrible how they make money and employ people during this recession...

Eternal Darkness and Too Human guys are also the ones who made Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for the gamecube.
