Did anyone else see the ridiculous advertising for this last night on all the late night talk shows? Watching Conan play bass was HILARIOUS, but still.....they are really promoting the hell out of this thing.

You could play through the career solo first. It's pretty short, I beat it in about 3 hours on Expert. Or, if you don't, you can have up to 3 different career saves simultaneously.

@ Peter Moore: Is each career save file "locked in" to whatever instrument/band configuration you start it with? Or can I start career on vocals and switch to guitar later?

@ It's like Rock Band 2, you can play any instrument on any difficulty with any amount of people.

"And then when it starts over, we actually started counting take numbers, and they went and grabbed different Abbey Road engineers calling off different takes."

Now THAT is effort in a project. I might fail a few times just to hear that.

Wow I really loved the article. I even liked how you asked about the value set. I liked reading how involved Paul got even if he never really played the game. It redeemed him and made me understand why he didn't in a way. Great interview Kevin Kelly!

Great interview. I'm a big Rock Band fan, and I've been trying not to buy it, but I think a run to Target might happen today.

"We actually pounded out sort of the awesomeness of each track on the song and ended up with Rubber Soul just inching ahead by a hair."

Oh no he didn't.

I got the drums, guitar, mic and game set(got it for better drums, bass and another mic; as you can't get RB2 in Aus.) yesterday afternoon after work and pretty much played it all night...
It's awesome.
Can't wait to get home after uni this afternoon and play it again :)

I absolutely love the small attention to detail in this game. My favorite example is if you restart a song in the studio (maybe other locales, but definitely in the studio) they say "Let's take it from the top." Such a nice little atmospheric touch.

Great interview as well Kevin Kelly.
