Rumor: Sony plans to follow Resident Evil: Afterlife with reboot Resident Evil: Begins

According to BloodyDisgusting, Sony already has plans for a fifth film following 2010's Afterlife -- which jibes with what we heard back at Comic-Con. However, instead of signing on Jovovich to reprise her role as Alice for films beyond Afterlife, the studio is supposedly planning to reboot the franchise and go back to the beginning of it all.

The fifth film is tentatively titled Resident Evil: Begins, and would apparently follow ~~Bruce Wayne's ascent as Batman, guardian of Gotham City~~ a special military unit that battles a super computer within a complex chock full of the undead. So it'll basically be the first movie again.

In my mind 28 Days is Resident Evil and 28 Weeks is Resident Evil II.

I'm so hoping they'd get Zack Snyder for the reboot. After all he directed Dawn of the Daed.

what the hell does underground complexes and supercomputer AI have to do with Resident Evil? "The Hive" and ANY sort of AI have NEVER been featured in a game, in its canon, or ANYTHING to do with RE. The Infection didn't even spread that far, as in RE4 we see that the nuke contained the virus save for a few tiny breakouts every few years. it sounds like this "reboot" is the crap movie series again minus the character with super powers

I'll also mention, that if afterlife is a continuation of the current series, its gonna get WAY more retarded. at the end of extinction you find out that Wesker and the others are working to STOP the infection or at least bring back the infected as half-okay people. after killing everything at the base, she says she's "coming to get them" so Alice is basically working to destroy the human race. good job screenwriters!

I really don't even understand how these movies were even made the way they were. The videogame has a far better story line than what they concocted for the movies and as for the reboot? I question how much of a reboot it will truly be when they are using the SAME chick for that, as well.
A TRUE reboot would tell her to get lost and get to the roots of the actual game. I think Silent Hill was the closest video game to movie translation I ever seen. While no where near perfect, I enjoyed it because it just reminded me a bunch of the vid games. I give that one a B. RE movies all get Fs.
