The Beatles: Rock Band DLC to include original dreamscapes

If you plow halfway through The Beatles: Rock Band today, you'll notice that all the songs taking place in a studio setting (as opposed to The Ed Sullivan Show or Shea Stadium, for example) feature really lovely animations, which Harmonix calls "dreamscapes," inspired by the song they accompany. The developer tells us that the DLC albums arriving in the coming months will receive similar treatment.

"DLC songs which don't end up in historical venues will have custom dreamscapes, yes," said Dare Matheson Lead Artist on the game at Harmonix. "There will be visual themes and elements that will stretch from the on-disc dreamscapes into the DLC dreamscapes, but everyone is custom, unique, and fully-crafted for the song it will accompany. It's a bargain!" At the same $2-per-song price as regular 'ol Rock Band DLC, we can't help but agree.

I'd actually pay for something like that...especially if the background was slightly animated with those trippy penguin things jumping around...and trumpets when I select something...

Would be the only time I would ever be willing to pay for a theme... If it was some trippy animated beatles funk.

It would appear that I made a mistake using my lunch break to go pick up my pre-order. I'm actively having to talk myself out of blowing off the rest of the workday to go home and play.

Haha, I don't blame you. I've been trying to talk myself out of it, but I'm seriously considering getting my guitars out of the storage facility they're currently residing in and picking this up on the way home.

Needless to say I haven't been getting much stuff done here today. I really should have just used a vacation day :-\

Shame Hamonix didn't include a Jukebox mode, where you can just view songs being played. I know I can set the game on Performance Mode and set it on "No Fail" but I'm kinda lazy like that.

YES! I hate how I can't enjoy the fine cinematics without feeling like I'm failing...that would have to go for ALL the music games.

Regular RB DLC has custom "dreamscapes" as well...see Clint Eastwood and the awesome rapping drummer.

I noticed that too, and I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. I'm still on the fence regarding the Beatles. I just have to wait until Friday and hope next week's RB2 DLC can hold me over. $6 is a lot easier to stomach than $60.

I knew I should've downloaded that song.

Instead I had to get Janis Joplin for the wife. Not a bad trade off though.

They aren't custom dreamscapes...it's unique camera and lighting work within the confines of the game.

Though I admit HMX is doing a very good job with making each song have some personality within Rock Band. But it's nothing to the degree that they're doing with Dreamscapes in TBRB.

Im not much of a beatles fan, and I enjoy difficulty, so I won't be getting the beatles, tempting as it may be. Lego Rock Band I might have to get.

Once I heard "with a little help from my friends", I knew I needed this game and not just the hofner bass.

Does TB:RB come with Rock band 1 drums or RB2?

If you buy the value edition, it's all Rock Band 1 instruments. If you buy the Limited Edition, you get The Beatles Guitars, The Beatles Drums, Mic, Mic Stand, USB Switch, etc.

Man can not wait to play this with my mates after work.

should be really interesting to see dreamscapes for "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Run For Your Life."

I can't wait to see scenes of murder by hammer in my Rock Band.

im still sorta confused on how the dlc is gonna work, seeing as there are a couple songs from abbey road on the disk, are we paying for those too?

No, the songs that are on disc aren't part of the DLC.

i was planning on buying the whole album when it comes out on psn tomorrow, i got 3 free songs from gamestop and was wondering which way would be cheaper. individually or just buying the whole album

Will it beat Guitar Hero 5 though? After all you get a free game when you buy it. I was thinking about that. How does that make Van Halen feel? Our game is not even worth charging for? lol It should be called, Guitar Hero - Wolfgang Van Halen's Time Traveling Adventures.

...and you have to play a specific note pattern to travel to different times, then in order to get back - you have to play it in reverse with 4x the difficulty!!

Well he's time traveling in the game. Because at certain points in the game. Wolfgang is performing with Van Halen circa 1983.

I turned my back on GH:Van Halen when they said Michael Anthony was being replaced by Wolfgang. Is it just me, or does Activision not care about bassists? First Cliff Burton, now Michael?

I like the whole idea of The Beatles game & will probably pick it up at some point....it's just.....they did over 200 songs. That's roughly 150 songs that they'll presumably pop into the game via DLC at some point, which will officially make it The Most Expensive Game Evar.

Could get pricey, is all I'm saying :)
