How did you to that conclusion?? Wii and DS outsold it console-wise and as far as Software..well its more Wii & Playstation Software in the top 10 than 360 software

wait, something isn't lining up for me. the numbers for arkham asylum combined are just a hair under 600,000. didn't eidos say they sold over 2,000,000? that's really weird.

and if they meant worldwide, then i find it very surprising that the rest of the world bout 2.3x as many copies of the game than america did.

Europe buys a lot of Eidos products on principle, I think. Similar to how America usually buys Valve, Bungie, and BioWare products.

It was only out for six and three days in the US and Europe respectively during August. It could have easily doubled in the first six days in September alone.

Either that or Eidos could have been talking units shipped.

well, Bioware is from Canada, and i dont think that's it, it's because you listed 3 of the best developers anywhere.

Bradwart, the most prominent Canadian studios are Bioware (Home grown Canadian) and Ubisoft Montreal (French). Otherwise companies like Relic, Radical, and Silicon Knights are all purely Canadian too.

There aren't many Canadian developers founded by US companies with name recognition.

Eh, Wii's sales troubles are only temporary. What we saw here is, perhaps, the first note in a Wii Sports Resort-inspired boost, and unless things go badly wrong, this holiday season should be quite powerful for them even at their basic price

I still say no price drop until the start of their new fiscal year, at the earliest. Nintendo may just try to add value in at the current price, anyway. That's what they did with the NES in the later stages of it's life. (they did drop the NES once, but because it was badly overpriced initially)

And the other titles forced the Wii version of Madden 10 out of the top 10, and equally so for Metroid Prime Trilogy. The Batman sales show that, for offline titles at least, we're approaching sales parity between 360 and PS3 for multiplat titles.

I am surprised that the 360 managed to stay ahead of the PS3.

I almost bought one myself.

Ii guess the price drop only being the last week of the month wasn't enough. I guess that the September sales will push it WAY up.

I don't think the 360 price drop on the elite is going to do anything, but the PS3 numbers in September are going to be BIG.

This holiday season is going to be brutal to the 360 I think. MS needs to drop the elite to $249.99 if they want to keep a lead.

And I don't think that ODST is going to push sales up.

Halo: Reach might though. With Halo 3, Halo: ODST, Halo: Reach, GoW, and some of the other exlusives, people who have a PS3 only might pick up a 360 on the cheap too.

Hell, I would buy a 360 just to play Halo if I never played it. I think I played through that game about 25 times, and I never played multiplayer with it either.

Yea the 360 Elite drop will do little to nothing...if anything it will just keep them from getting completely overran....I'm not surprised the 360 outsold the PS3 tho....the slim wasn't WIDELY Available until this month and most people were waiting on that...

as for ODST It damn sure wont do halo 3 numbers but I believe it will sell good....hell Halo Wars sold the numbers it did because they never alluded to what it was exactly...I mean I went in Gamestop a week after it came out and PLENTY of people had took it back because they had TONS on sale as used...that proved that the Halo name will move units but it doesnt mean it will keep moving them

Basically, Microsoft needs some kickass exclusives for 10. They've got some nice ones set up now (Halo ODST, Mass Effect 2) but Sony will be on top this winter. Microsoft might also be putting a lot of hope on Natal.

Come on, let's not be ridiculous. I was in Best Buy today, and there were stacks upon stacks of PS3s.

It's doing Ok, but honestly, being an American, knowing my friends, it just doesn't have the appeal of Xbox here. Most of my friends don't want to think about a second system, and they already have their Xbox and are happy.

The PS3 just doesn't do too well in the American market, the NPD numbers from the slim launch were lackluster. It will do well, but to say it's going to be brutal to 360 and overrun it is asinine.

$299 for a Blu-Ray player and all the PS3 games....older guys who don't play games will probably buy it.

Hell....my Blu-Ray player was $250.

But with the bad economy, young people who already own a 360 won't buy it. I am old, have a good job (and a blu-ray already), but I won't buy one anytime soon.

Mostly because the games don't appeal to me and I hate the PS controller.

September and October will see the PS3 beating the 360 in sales. I think MS should have a price drop on the elite to $250 in early November and they will own November, December and on into the new year.

Dark Wayne, YOU need to get out of denial. Barely beating the 360? That's hardly great.

It's launch was terrific in Europe and Japan, but it was nothing special in the United States. Face it, it's just not penetrating here like it is elsewhere.

Mal F4cti0n pretty much summed it up accurately.

Nope, I grew up with Intellivision, Atari, sega master system, NES, Genesis, and Super NES. I was in college when the newer stuff came out.

I played Halo at a friends house and 3 years after college (when I changed jobs and got a big increase in pay) I bought an Xbox. My roommate at the time had a PS2 and we played a few games here and there. Once I got the xbox, we played Halo all the time. I fell in love with xbox Live when that came out. I used to play Delta Force on PC back in college. I think that was the first FPS you could play MP with over the interwebz.

@Mal:

I'm old balls, too. Growing up with Atari and Nintendo. I have had a 360 since launch and am in love with the controller. I recently bought a PS3 when the price was reduced and I HATE the controller. I'm forcing myself to get used to it. It's a slow process.

@uncle jesse,

Yeah, and it is especially bad for FPS's, which is what I like to play on my console. But it is also bad for racing games too. I loved the trigger method of applying vrying amounts of gas with the right trigger stick...no no gas/full gas toggle bullshit.

The 360 controller is ergonomic, comfortable and everything is second nature in terms of finding buttons w/o looking.

The PS3 feels like it was designed by retarded monkeys.
