On the eve of the launch of Harmonix's digital British invasion, Conan O'Brien had a very special guest on his show -- Dhani Harrison, a collaborator on The Beatles: Rock Band and son of the late, great George Harrison. He spoke with everyone's favorite ginger giant, then demoed the title with Conan, who struggled on the bass line for "Birthday." Sadly, it looked as though he was playing on Easy. Actually, it looked even easier than that. Does Beatles: Rock Band have a "Toddler" setting?
You can check out NBC's site for a video of the interview and "Birthday" sampling. As for the Cone, we suggest he stay off the gee-tars and stick with his Edith Bunker-inspired vocal work.

I would at least practice the game before the show started, to not look like a fool. Even 15 minutes of playing would have made him look much better.

I don't think he cares. He's Conan O'Brien. Looking like a fool is part of his show. And besides, he's picked apples with Mr. T.

Conan actually plays guitar, though...

I love how Conan is plugging a VIDEO GAME on Late Night - not just for actors, athletes, comedians, and musicians anymore. Kudos!

It's the Tonight Show now, not Late Night. This isn't the first time this kind of stuff has happened either. I see Tony Hawk on these shows every time one his games comes out, and Jimmy Fallon demoed Project Natal a couple months ago.

He's had Tiger Woods on a few times to show off the game.

There are four instruments on stage but only three in the game. What's going on here?

Even better is if you watch the full episode. As he's doing his send off, you can see the arrow for vocals going off the scale as it picks up his whole "Byeeverybodybyedabye!" Oops... he didn't realize he was set up to be backing vocals.

They gave one guy a controller and told him to "press the buttons on the screen" but what they didnt tell him was that his controller wasnt plugged into anything.

It was the guy on the right - he's pretending to play, and singing backup at the same time. I think he felt stupid just singing, so he made it look cooler.
Sorry for not knowing his name. I'm sure he's one of the guys who work on the show, but I haven't seen the Conan show yet, just this clip & the natal one.

no, there are four instruments on stage. there's bass, guitar, and drums, which you can see, and the vocal track is overhead, it's faintly visible, and the screenshot is from a moment where there were no vocals yet.

The irony here is that the guy who posts Expert bass sightreads of all the Rock Band DLC on Youtube uses a Conan O'Brien avatar.

I haven't seen the video, but I'd imagine part of this could be a video synch problem. I know I'm terrible for the first couple songs when I play at my friend's house because he has his video synched differently than mine.

I love the discrepancy in the other players' instrument's compared with Harrison's drums, which he was f***ing destroying.

I thought it was very interesting that Harrison kept saying that people who already play music actually have more difficulty on the easy setting. He said that a guitarist should just start on hard because it more accurately represents playing an instrument.
Well, Conan *does* play the guitar, and quite well! Nevertheless, they put him on easy mode and sure enough, he had a rough time of it.

The Cone? Excuse me, but his name is Co-Co

It is every players responsibility to tell new people to Rock Band that you can hold the buttons down when you see the notes and then hit strum at the right time. It increases their playing ability dramatically. That guy should have told Conan that beforehand.

I love watching people play video games and have no idea what they're doing.
Oh by the way, did any one get the remastered CDs? They're fantastic. I'm listening to the White Album right now.

I got the remastered CD's. Lovin' them. The past two days have been completely Beatles.
@Anthony: There wasn't, the guy on the right was faking it as he sang backup vocals. I guess he felt stupid just singing, so he brought in the guitar to bit cooler.
