No matter how you spin it EA people want to play certain games online with there friends. The reason why last year or the year before that sales were stronger was that Wii use to be the cheapest platform out there and online functionality of 360/PS3 where still being ironed out.

Wii needs to wake up and try to get a functioning online service up and running. Not this gazillion long friend code that is in place now.

In Madden's case (as is the case with most EA Wii games), the problems of Nintendo WFC are irrelevant, since this runs off of EA Gamer Nation (or whatever, never tried it), which is a service very similar to PS2 online, at least.

Personally, I was a big fan of Maddon 09 for the Wii. Yes, it had the All-Play brand and controls, but it also had the full-on controls from Madden 08. I think that's the thing that people overlook with the Wii version of Madden 09. It had the full, regular Madden game in there, but people focused on the All-Play controls and minigames only. Plus it had the EXCELLENT "Call Your Shots" feature. I do like how they implemented Call Your Shots on both offense and defense this year, which would make for some very interesting online matches with both sides making up plays on the fly. What turned me off from Madden 10 on Wii, quite frankly, is the graphics. I was highly disappointed in EA for trying to turn Madden 10 on Wii into a Saturday morning cartoon. I think that is what has turned most people off on Madden Wii so far. On the other hand, Madden 09 on Wii started off pretty slowly too, then went on to sell over 750,000 copies, per VGChartz (I know, I know, people hate that site, but I think its okay for taking a quick sales number snapshot). So, Madden 09 sold decently in the end. The question is, will EA be able to rally back and make Madden 10 do the same, with NO marketing muscle behind that version of the game (everything you see for it, as mentioned before, is for the PS3/360 versions of the game)?

I have Madden 09 for the Wii and I loved it. I took the dolphins to the super bowl and won it :) The thing is, I already have a football game, why would I want another?

Oh and btw, I had NFL 2k3 for the PS2 and it's way better in presentation than Madden 09 Wii. It seemed to me like they didn't even bother, not even for the super bowl, it was just like any other regular season game...

That was my point. Madden 09 on Wii WAS a good football game. It had the core Madden game modes, with the full on motion controls. But it ALSO had simplified controls so that beginners could get into the game as well. Too many people looked just at the All-Play side of the game and paid not enough attention to the REST of the Madden 09 package. Which was a sad thing.

I just hope this kills the Madden All Play initiative... making the game more accessible is not always a good thing.

I know a friend that sold his Wii and got a 360 because of that.. he is a huge Madden fan and was totally disappointed with last year's release. His biggest complaint was the ALL Play "kiddie" treatment.

This is the same sort of thing I was talking about in my post above, though. See, the All-Play feature was there, BUT so was all the regular Madden season and control features. People focused just on the All-Play part of the game with its slimmed down controls, and didn't pay any attention to the fact that the full on regular Madden Wii controls were there, as well. You could play with any of the 3 control configurations you wanted to. No one was forced to play with the All-Play controls.

No surprise here. Why the hell would anyone want to buy the dumbed down version? Unless you only have the wii, of course, but that's overkill.

I wouldn't buy it! It looks like shit! "Built from the ground up" my ass! Those are the lamest PS2 low end graphics I have ever seen! COME ON! If a game like Resident Evil 4 can be made for the damn GAMECUBE,why can't their be a great looking football game with better than PS2 level graphics?! EA's getting wjat they deserve on this one. Hell, I plan on getting Dead Space: Extraction because it actually looks like effort is being put into it AND it's a prequel!

I don't get what the hype is about Madden @ all. Granted I'm sure that's because I loathe football. It's such a boring sport. NHL is where it's @ for me.

Ok all of you Madden Junkies can go ahead & downvote me now...I know you're going to.
