We've come a long, long way from the opening days of the PlayStation Home Theater space, where the debut trailer for Twilight played in an endless cycle of brain-melting teen melodrama. Today, if you drop by the networking service's silver screens, you'll be able to view some programming that's probably more in your wheelhouse -- clips from Adult Swim's Mego-infused comedy series, Robot Chicken.
Whether or not you enjoy Seth Green's stop-motion brainchild, we think we can all agree that it's a step up from teasers for vampiric romance novel adaptations. Unfortunately, we're physically incapable of watching Robot Chicken without succumbing to waves of nausea, a side-effect from our youthful diet of G.I. Joes.

suuuuuure....thats why it generated over $1 Million in sales in the first 2 WEEKS of the "Open Beta".....My Guess is Sony is Making $1-2 Million a month off of Home at this point...Especially with all the Gear people keep buying.....and This Christmas is only going to add to that...I SERIOUSLY hope that this influx of PS3 going onto PSN Christmas day and the week or so after for school breaks doesnt cause the network to crash like what happen to XBL 2-3 years ago....

There is always the few people "lol, home suxors!!1! No one goes there"
Yes there are plenty of people that use home and find usefull features in it. I personally use it to easily chat with friends and play games and/or just hang out when we can't hang out in real life cause of work, plans for the next day, etc.

ah, even more of these fuckers.
Last time i checked there were alot of people in home. Not like 20, not like 30 more like 50+ in a single room at any given time. Multiply that by the fact that all home spaces are in Instances and not all huddled in the same space together. So i'd say there are 1000+ in home at a time.
but to bad you both are too ignorant to check out all the great stuff that Sony has added since its launch, to you its still 3 home spaces with a crappy apartment and people doing quinces. Welcome to 2009 fucktards, now pull your head out ya asses and take a look before you speak

I am not entirely certain why people are getting so defensive about Home.
I personally do not understand the appeal of it. At all. I like playing games on my consoles, not hanging around in a pseudo second life clone.
If I want to talk to people on the PSN, I can do it through the XMB, and that's how I like to keep it.

"I assumed most people were like me, install it once, walk around for a few minutes, never go back."
"I never said home sucks and people don't go there."
You pretty much did, seriously though, why don't you give it another chance. Even if you have no friends with PS3's you still might find some uses for it.

HOME is usually fairly busy actually. I myself have a love/hate relationship with it where some days I can spend time hanging out with people (which I prefer over the XMB chat due to the character length and the pseudo face-to-face opportunity as well as the voice chat within personal spaces) and other days I avoid it like the plague.
I will admit most of my friends on my friends list were met through HOME and it has connected me to a bunch of people I now play games with. It's really a chance to network with other gamers. Many games aren't supported by the Game launch but there are some and people definitely use it to find people to play with.
For some it is a turn it on, check it out, walk away, don't come back kind of thing. But Sony has been making strides to improve HOME and add more content. It's not for everyone, I'll admit. But give it some time, try to meet some other gamers, and maybe play some games with them and you might start to see the appeal.
All in all, to each his own.

Foxus on making PSN more Like XBL??
Do you NOT see that They are trying to do SOOOOO MUCH MORE than what Live can do with home?? Do you want to know what they eventually want to do with Home?
Lets see here....
-Party System
-Bring Back the Voice chat to where it only works when invites are accepted
-Have FULL LENGTH MOVIES IN HOME that you can sit down and watch with friends
-Ability to Purchase Music, Movies & Games from the mall....
-MASSIVE Groups for Clans, friends, etc
-More Bowling Lanes, Pool Tables, etc...
-MORE Events some of which will most likely be live....
-EXCLUSIVE shit(who knows what)
and it goes on and on...fact is once Sony gets their shit together Home WILL BE A MONSTER

You act like it would be SOOOOOOOOO Hard for them to put that into the main system....point is it IS more....what you fail to see is although it may not appeal to you it DOES appeal to MILLIONS of people...Sony realizes this and are jumping on that ....like I have said before my bet is Sony Wants to turn Home into the OS on the PS4....so as SOON as you sign on it will default to Your Home space...where you can control everything you can in the XMB but in Home....

Yes we do frequent Home. As a matter of fact EA converted a single space it had created earlier this year into 3 to fit more people in their offerings. Still with the extra space card tables and racing booths are full all the time.
The Buzz TV space rocks!!! It is hilarious to play the quiz game with others and one of the best implementations of a Home game space yet. The rest of the spaces have grown enormously and Home is now the space that was first envisioned.

Uhm no?
I have all 3 of the major consoles, I also have a PS2, Xbox and DS. I don't hate everything Sony, I am just not in love with every single thing they do.
I personally love my PS3, I just do not see the appeal of Home.

Huey2k2, we get it. You don't like Home and fail to see value in it. Fine, don't use it. Many people do like and use it, and are also happy that Sony continues to support it with frequently new features.
I believe you've reached an impasse. I think it's fair to say you're a troll since you find it easy to call others fanboys that have differences of opinion. It's the typical cop out. "What?! You don't agree with me?! Then you must be a fanboy."

I can see where this is going... Robot Chicken LIVE In PlayStation Home!! Does Seth Green already hang out @Home??
Seriously, Second Life is (was?) BIG BUSINESS. So don't think about Home as just a "XBL in 3D World".
I suspect if it weren't for Home, MS wouldn't have made the AVATAR update for XBL anyway. Why put it down when SONY is willing to go the extra step?

One feature I've been waiting for all eternity for in Home is the ability to go back to your home space and playback Xvid's (i guess from your own ps3 hard drive) and be able to essentially stream it to others you've invited back to your space as well.
I hope it's not permanently banned from ever seeing the light b/c of copyright issues, b/c that would be a useful function for watching movies with friends who are hundreds of miles away and the like.

SERIOUS POST ALERT!
As far as I'm aware kentucky, the copyright laws in question prohibit "un-lawful exhibition in a public place".
Now I can invite friends over to watch a DVD I bought at the store, and none of the film studios or whoever are knocking down my door screaming "COPYRIGHT!!!11!!1!!", so I see absolutely no legal reason why this can't be implemented as your Home Apartment, like your RW apartment is a "Private" space, and so you are not "publicly exhibiting" the movie/tv show or whatever.
It should make absolutely no difference if your friends are in the privacy of your own home, or the privacy of your online home, and to be honest internet copyright laws are even more lax, so this really shouldn't be an issue.
I think Sony would maybe need a firmware update that would allow your PS3 to act as a server over the net possibly, but that can be done easily enough.
I would SERIOUSLY expect to see this in the future, or Sony are missing a trick.

^ hahah. My sentiments exactly. For legal stuff, it should be fine. the illegally obtained avi's...well...that's up to Sony and the movie industry to fight over.
I just remember it being advertised as a capability of Home, and I would love to see this come to fruition.
The ghetto version of this is of course for person A to download say, a t.v. show episode, and then person B, to grab the same one, and then both people hit "play" at exactly the same moment...it really isn't that fun trying to coordinate.

Home has a wealth of possibility as long as Sony doesn't give up on it.
There should be at least one room devoted to running fan-subbed anime, 24-7, dedicated rooms for some t.v. series re-runs, etc. Hell, even a continuously showing trailers from different games would be great if a deal with gametrailers.com could be brokered (outside of Sony's own content). Or a spectating room for watching killzone 2 or MGO rounds.
the other day, I stepped into Home for maybe 20 minutes, browsing around. It was fun to watch the gamescon trailers, but there were only 3 before the content started looping again. Home needs far more engaging content to keep people hooked in and interacting with each other as well.
