They should just have a bundle with ALL those games. That would make the decision to buy one much, much easier.

That indeed made sense. If the bundle was more expensive why the hell would it "make the decision to buy one much, much easier"?

It will never happen and really, making the decision to buy a PS3 is already easy. Way easier than the decision to buy a 360.

Never said anything about the 360, but curious of you to bring that up.

So, it would be a bad idea to raise the price of the bundle a little in order to pay for the extra games. Why buy one game when you can get all three at a discount?

Bear in mind the UK price includes Value Added Tax (VAT, something like 20%?)

It's £250 including VAT (£212/$315 without)

I'm not overly impressed with this, I can pick up a 320Gb HDD for 50 quid (or a 250 for about 35) so I could make my new slim the same & have a spare 120Gb drive or I could just connect my 320Gb WD USB (that cost around 70 quid) and have LOADS of space!

Everyone goes on about VAT (15%) as being a reason for higher prices, but we're not the only country to have sales tax. Infact, many states (maybe all, not sure) in America have sales tax. Probably not quite as high as ours, but what's really the problem here is companies taking Europe in general for a ride.

It's been common practise to scribble out a $ sign and replace it with a € sign for a while now. They just ignore the fact that 1 USD is worth significantly less than 1 EUR and then convert that faux-converted sum into GBP. 299 USD to EUR is 205 EUR, 205 EUR to GBP equals, drum roll... 179 GBP. Add VAT, Shipping in bulk from China and whereever Sony's main European warehouses are based and you should have a figure relative to about £190-200, tops. It's not BAD, but it is practically 25% of the unit's price added on again for no discernible reason.

It's why I was surprised and quite delighted that the Zune HD, a player which should be coming over to Europe sometime soon was so cheap for a 16GB player, $220. Then realised that Microsoft will pull the $1 = €1 dickmove and it'll end up something like £200, not the £130 you Americans will pay. I can imagine a slight price increase based on extra shipping and handling around Europe, but not on these levels. Can't import one either, because a UK model of the Zune HD will have a DAB radio receiver, while the US one has a HD Radio receiver which isn't used in the UK. But there you go.

@ssuk - the reason why everyone goes on about VAT, is because US prices never include it as it varies depending on the state you are buying from, and everyone always convert the prices but forget about adding VAT to the US ones.

Maybe some of those bundles are starting in October then? The title might be a bit misleading, unless I'm proven wrong and GT5 comes out in October.

Please prove me wrong, Sony!

Seems increasingly certain that Gran Turismo 5 is going to be out soon after the GT PSP launch in COtober. Sony's record of keeping launch dates secret has been really abysymal this year - PS3 slim, PSP Go, and now GT5.
PS3 sales in japan would be amazing if both FF13 and GT5 launch late this year.

I heard a crazy rumor the other day that GT5 would be ready to go, at least for Europe, by the end of this month (TGS time) and this...if true...makes it a lot less crazy sounding.

But why complicate things with not just 1 bundle, but 3? They finally scrapped most of the old units and have just the slim out tehre selling crazy, now in typical Sony fashion they want to screw up their success. They're gonna confuse the casuals who may be interested in the system.

I can see how it can be considered confusing, but I guess they're just trying to cater to different groups even if there's bound to be some serious overlap between AC2 and U2.

If the choice is too tough, you can always get one bundle and two standalone games.

I understand, but my questioning I guess is if another 130GB is really needed, even if it's for a very low price.

It's completely subjective in my mind...I wouldn't spend another $23 just for a bigger HDD, because 120GB is plenty big for me.

For others that want to store more movies etc. on disk, then it may be a truly stupendous deal. But in the general sense, it doesn't match up to say a 2 or 3 game bundle.

is a 250GB HDD needed?? I'd say so...sure you may have the one or 2 people that WONT play a game that rewires installs, that WONT download Large files from the PS Store...but I'd be willing to say that now that Sony is running the ads of a TAD of what the PS3 can do that more people will be aware of the features and will use it to buy movies and more...

**sidenote** One thing I have noticed is how the "Whats New" section streams video...I wonder how long it takes before they start to "instant play" movies on the store...

I've had a 120GB Xbox Elite for awhile now, and the only times I've run out of space are when I have a crapload of games installed to disk, or rented movies that I haven't deleted. For MY usage, if I go over 120GB it means I need to clean shit up. For my PS3, I've never even run anywhere near the max size.

For owning movies via PS3, or for Games on Demand via 360, space can become a little more precious...but I still haven't run into needing more yet, and doubt I will for awhile. Just a personal thing really based on my usage.

Additional games however are always value-adds. More space CAN be useful, but more games ARE useful. That's really the distinction I was trying to make.

Ummm I am curious to see what you will say when they release the 500GB Version in about a year or 2....

Clearly I have a 320GB HDD and I'm down to under 50GBs left now....sure you could argue that I can easily download the episodes of Qore, Countless Demos and Videos on there but why?? what if I want to watch or play them again? There are PLENTY of Reasons WHY a 250GB HDD is necessary....Especially with VidZone, PlayTV and other services ....

I can't speak for everyone, but I have a launch PS3 with a 250GB hdd inside, I only have a few hundred meg of music files, but a TON of demos, videos and PS1 games, and I'm down to my last 20GB. Also I would imagine that if I had PlayTV then that would eat a large chunk of data, and if Sony decides to got the Burnout route and sell more 'Full' games via PSN, 250GB is going to see a bit on the small side. I have to say though, making the HDD user upgradable is awesome - I love the fact you can choose whether you need 1TB mega storage or maybe SSD load speed if you want to spend extra.

Why the hell would Chris want to do that? That'd be like owning a Wii. That gets VERY annoying VERY fast, trust me. It actually made me not want to play my VC games because the process of redownloading them was such a pain.

On top of that, the PS Store isn't the fastest thing in the world, and by the time you re-downloaded and re-installed some games, you'd probably not want to play it anymore.

There's a reason why I upgraded my 40gb drive. I certainly didn't want to play that game again, and I never have to worry about how much space I have when I install a new game.

Yes, that's true. But even when you add a typical sales tax that you would encounter in the US they still pay a lot more. Around here sales tax is around 10%, so after tax they still pay roughly $80 more.

@archigamer, assuming you have 100 GB of music that you paid a dollar per song for, that would be about 30,000 songs at a dollar a piece. You spent 30,000 dollars on music? How much of that songlist do you actually listen to on a daily basis?

I swear people just collect stuff for the sake of collecting it. I would bet most of that is pirated anyway if true. And to everyone saying they download TV shows, what do you do when you're done watching? Do you just keep it on the disc indefinitely? Why? In the off chance you might wanna watch again? I just don't understand.

Like I said, most people are just pirating a bunch of stuff and rarely listening to the whole library. I would put money down on the fact that if people couldn't easily torrent or limewire songs, movies, and games HDDs would be less than 1/3 of the size they are now. Would people be buying 120 GB ipods if they had to pay 1 dollar for every song?

yea right. I know so many people with 10,000+ songs that only listen to maybe 100 of them.

Shows what you know. Out of all the songs I downloaded, only a few I can safely say I haven't played for a while.

I'm a music buff. I love any musical genres(except most rap and country), and I really love to hear music. I spend most of my time listening to music, even when I walk to to the store or when ever I feel like it. I don't collect things because I feel like it, but because I want to, it's something I like.

It's like buying a lot of games; it's a part of my life that I truly enjoy, and if I really like music or games I damn as well get as much as I want because it's what I like.

The only reason I don't listen to much music now is only because my iPod is on the fritz. But trust me, once that is working, you bet you will see my listen to all my music I have.
