Its still a bit of a let-down to see a sequel to Valkria Chronicles and Metal Gear Solid come to the PSP vs. the PS3/360. Well, it does give the developers a chance to relax on the graphical department at least.

It's a shame that Kojima didn't lobby harder for Peace Walker to be on the PS3. From recent interviews, it seems obvious to me that he'd rather be working on a console game. Oh well, I always complain about the lack of PSP software, and now that we are getting two excellent games, I should be happy.

"Considering the limited power of the PSP, we're positively surprised by the results."

i'm surprised by how many times i've said that recently after seeing some new games. like soul calibur.

For me, it was Resistance Retribution. There were a lot of enemies on screen at once, especially for a handheld game. Not only that, but the graphics and scale was amazing.

i didn't like resistance. the pacing was horrible. it was walk for 5 seconds, firefight. walk another 5 seconds, firefight. repeat until you get to the boss. ugh.

I think you're giving it a little more than it's due there.

I am more than happy with how it looks considering the platform, but it is still rather flat, and the bullets in particular are definitely somewhat lacking in visual oomph.

Multiplayer will be bitchin'.

The turnbased/realtime mix seems a better fit on the PSP than the PS3, IMO. I can't wait to play this on the train to work.

I'm less concerned about the graphics and more concerned about the level size. Not only do the levels in VC2 look small in comparison to VC1's but they also look rather dull in terms of their actual design. With that said, the game still looks great in action but I still can't help but be disappointed that the sequel is for PSP. :\

All this sequeal development and DLC, can't I just have a trophy patch please? I like trophies yes, it doesn't make me a bad person. It's an awesome game and I just want a little digital reward for playing it.

It looks like... Valkyria Chronicles. But its on the PSP.

Awesome.

I don't see why anyone would be surprised by the footage though; VC isn't exactly a graphical powerhouse, even though it had awesome art direction. I'll miss the "drawn in" look of the original, but ultimately if its got the same gameplay (and it looks like it does) it'll be a great game.

Bought a Playstation 3 just to play you.
Now going to have to buy a PSP to play the sequel?

How cruel.

I agree with you, Winterfang. It's satisfactory but by no means mindblowing when you consider Soul Calibur, Peace Walker (and Portable Ops for that matter), and Dissidia.

I have had VC for 360 sitting on my shelf for some time; I think I got it then shortly after started playing Fallout 3 and lost sight of it. Do I need to pick it up for a play through immediately? All the comments here show some pretty die hard love for the game.

Um...what? Valkyria Chronicles is PS3 only so you can't have it for the 360. And yes, the game is fantastic. I haven't met anyone yet who's played it and disliked it. Though, it's not without its flaws. The story can be overly corny at times...and the gameplay is easily broken half due to the retarded AI, but more due to how the game operates in which you can just take a shocktrooper and run right up to nearly everything and shoot it in the head. Heck I use them to shoot down tanks too. Kinda takes the strategy element out of the game sometimes, although, there are a lot of clever missions.
