The Madden curse is a myth. The injury rate in football is just high. The chances of a player being injured is the same as the percentage of Madden cover athletes who have been injured.

Yeah, the injury rate is high in football. But the fact that it happens to just about every player that appears on the cover is just to much of a coincidence to be ignored.

Oh, and FNG, I think you meant to say "You shut your mouth when you're talking to me!"

Ha! But you didn't know about the Madden Curse Joystiq Comment Curse did you? Anyone who posts on Joystiq trying to discredit the Madden curse will themselves suffer an injury within the week.

@Storm Eagle: The injury rate of players who are NOT on the cover of Madden is as high or higher than the players who are on the cover of Madden. It's not a coincidence, it's just how violent football is.

@Courtney: I had a debilitating shoulder injury yesterday, does that count?

Sure, the injury rate is high, but the number consecutive guys that have had the ONLY major injury of their career the year they were on the cover of Madden is pretty outstanding.

So you figure we take some random player and I tell you that in his 8 year career he will have one major injury. So the odds of that just happening to occur by coincidence on the same year they were on the cover of Madden (assuming they only donned the Madden cover once in their career) is 1 in 8. Now, take that, and apply it 10 consecutive times and the odds of that happening are roughly 1 in 134 million.

People argue that Favre didn't get hit with the curse last year...but if you ask me his reputation and public image suffered about a grave an injury as any player could physically suffer.

How did favre not get hit with the curse last year?

He just recently admitted that he played the last 6 games with a torn bicep, which was clear to anyone that watched the games and noticed that he couldn't throw the ball further than 10 yards downfield in that span.

Troy should have held for NFL Gameday to come back, no curses documented:

Unless there's a 3-year delay in curses for Gameday who knows...

So, as a Larry Fitzgerald dynasty owner, I'm wondering if this means his doom is imminent and I should trade him off now, or if the Madden curse gods are now satisfied with the sacrifice of Polalamu and Fitz is now safe.

We've never had two people on the cover before, so I'm unclear as to the rules.

This is not the "madden curse" the madden curse is always a season-ending play (that player fumbles the ball that knocks them out of the playoffs) or a season ending injury.

...so...he's the one that throws the ball, right? I'm confused. If they use Curse, won't theirs Speed go down one stage and their Attack and Defense go up one stage?

...I don't understand these "sports". ^^;
