The oft-hyped but never shown PS3 MMO in development by NCsoft is likely not to be. VG247 reports NCsoft's European Managing Director, Veronique Lallier, confirmed the company is "not working on anything at the moment." The executive stated that the "casual gaming" title the company was working on was "not something [it] continued, unfortunately."
The NCsoft PS3 MMO was first mentioned in the summer of 2007, with a follow-up announcement that the game would be announced by the end of that year. The following year, the company stated it would have "something to announce -- not only announce but to show -- by the second half of this year." Currently, NCsoft is "still looking at opportunities" for consoles. At least that two year charade is over.

[Oops, I said something here I shouldn't. I do it again and I'll be banned.]

Umm, I said no such thing.
I said....and if this gets me banned, well then, that's just ridiculous.
"Oh well. Maybe next console generation. By the way, it sure has been a sloooow news day."
All I'm saying is usually, we're on page 2 or 3 by the time 4EST rolls around. It's been good news, just not a lot of it. Not your guys' fault. Jeesh.

I understand Markez, but what did I say that's ban-worthy?
Am I to understand that it's perfectly acceptable to throw insults, vulgarity and threats at each other, but one misunderstood quip about Joystiq itself is unforgivable?

Really? That's seems a little excessive Joystiq, don't you think.

I can only hope it was some sort of mistake. Regular posters here know me, I'm here ALL the time. I would hope Joystiq wouldn't ban such a dedicated fan for such a meaningless post.
Moving on.

Casual MMO? No need...Free Realms is done, it just needs to be ported to PS3.

I would imagine blind people would hate it more. I mean, at least deaf people know where the chair is.

Oh I know, but if I want a casual MMO, I'd take Free Realms as it actually exist.

Guild Wars for consoles: do it.
1. Target-based controls easily adapted to controllers. In fact, several mods already allow GW play on 360 controllers on PC
2. 8-person parties decrease total stress on aging console hardware
3. Game is essential "done" as GW2 approaches
4. Would not require monthly fees (as PC version doesn't) so NCSoft AND the consumer AND Microsoft all win

YES! Thank god NCSoft pulled the plug. We don't need a failure company making MMO's for PS3. Guild Wars was 100 times better as a beta product the first 4 months of beta then the finished product has EVER been.
Almost 98% of all NC Soft games came out to be failures.

Care to explain your reasoning behind your statement? I didn't play the GW beta but I bought the game the day it was released. I spent a couple of months playing the game (@ least)...then I lacked extra time to play it. I thought it was a great game, I just didn't have the time to play it anymore.

The feeling of the game the 4 months of beta was very good. There was quite alot of content released for the 4 months of the beta. Everything seemed alot more polished and their was alot of things to it. It's kinda hard to explain. If you ever played a MMO like say WoW or FFXI the feeling was a mix between the both. It never got old. After the first 4 months of the beta they changed ALOT of the game. The start locations of the classes for one, the whole past present thing was done far better in the beta. The distinctions also between classes was on the money.
The feeling of the beta was a lot better than the feeling of the finished product. I feel they cut a lot of the gliss and the things that grabbed you away and dumbed it down way to far. Everyone i knew who played the beta also agree'd that the finished product of the game was far subpar than the beta version of the game. Storyline, to the feeling of the game, to the customizations you could do on armor to everything else just was a lot better than the product they put out. As for NCSoft as a failure, almost every MMO they came out with flopped. I have little to no faith on NCSoft.
