So basically, the PSP Go is a complete throw-away device with no exclusivity, no current support (notice all the bundles), and will cost more? How else will they fuck this up?

Meh if I get one I don't want to be an early adopter I'll wait until the homebrew community gets their hands on it so I can find out the pros and cons....

I read an article somewhere (Joystiq ? i dont know..) saying that the psp go may be reduced to 200$ price tag as supposed to 250$.

That would at least make the system more appealing..

Plus i dont think sony would place a 250$ tag on release. Most people would just say "Well if i save up 50$ i can buy a ps3.."

Or, like you said, releasing a collection of them as one "game." That way, you could have the same amount of trophies as any other PSN game, just having only a couple trophies per Mini.

Why doesn't Sony just start releasing games on sd cards? They could be used with either the old psp or the psp go.

First, SD aren't really that expensive if you look hard enough, and second, this is Cody we are talking about.

Again, though, the PSP uses Memory Stick Pro Duo, which is definitely more expensive than SD, and cost-prohibitive for mini games, and most regular PSP games.

You can buy a 3rd party MS-Duo adapter which can take up to 2 micro-SD cards. Then you can use it on the PSP....

i guess they could get all the good ones, port them to PS3, up the graphics, and call the compilation "MiniMaxiWorld"

They won't be pissed, because they wouldn't know any better.

Anyway, i don't understand putting them on UMD's. Why move backwards? Not even Patapon 2 (a real game) got put on a disc. Mini's are designed to be cheap and easily accessible, made for downloading. It's not like the old PSP users can't do the same thing. I think SCEE is talking out of their ass again.

they could probably put 20 games in 1 umd for 40 bucks. 2 bucks per games isn't bad.

That's like saying 99 cents isn't bad for an App store game. It doesn't sound bad, but the amount of shovelware makes it around 1 good game for 40$ that you can beat in 10 mins.

The Sony rep did say "the most succesful" titles, so hopefully not shovelware.

You mean the SanDisk Duo Memory Stick.

Also, I think I just may have confused you with another Cody. Sorry.

@ArchiGamer

It's okay. The other Cody gives me a bad name. Anyways, yeah, I meant the SanDisk Duo Memory Stick. I have no ideal why this post wasn't a reply to my first post even though I pressed reply.

Are you using Internet Explorer? Sometimes when you click reply, IE takes you to the end of the page to the comment box BUT it won't be replying.

Always look to the space between the e-mail box and the comment box because if it is blank, then you are not replying.

There have already been very small, casual-class games released on UMD. Several of the UMD Legacy titles on the PS Store are less than 20 MB in size. I believe it is Super Collapse 3 which is a mere 13 MB (then again, the GameSpot review of that game noted a "lengthy quest mode," so maybe it wouldn't have been a Mini despite the mini binary footprint).

Doesn't having Minis on UMD kind of take away the original purpose?

Actually kind of think of it, yes it does. They just want more money thats all.

Believe it or not, there are parts of the world where using Internet Shopping is still difficult. Especially for someone w/o a credit card or cannot buy the PSN recharge cards. So a UMD collection of mini-games is a good idea.

I have a feeling the title used for these games, "minis" was coined by a British person.

Mega Minis! As an iphone user i have come to love great games that can be played in short game sessions. I don't own a PSP, but I do have a PS3. A small simple game would totally be up my alley.

I just hope there isn't a million tower defense games.

This is great news for folks like me who like owning their games on physical media. I was a tad worried that the PSP Go meant they'd be phasing UMDs out in the end.
