Rock Band Weekly: Tenacious D, Anvil, Dinosaur Jr., The Guess Who

Rock Band Weekly heads up to Canadia next week for a three pack from heavy metal band Anvil. There are also tracks from Brütal Legend "star" Jack Black's band Tenacious D. It'll actually be pretty quiet week, as the Wii doesn't add its usual mega-list of back catalog tracks and is in sync with the Xbox and PS3 versions. Check it all out after the break.

YESS Tribute is awesome.

i'm no fan of Tenacious D, in fact i don't even know how anyone can. BUT... Tribute is a great song by them and still have it on my iPod to this day.

And the Beatles comparison doesn't work, because Tenacious D isn't popular because of JBs musical genius, just his celebrity. It's not the same thing.

Yes, if you aren't going to play either of them, you can at least LOOK cool and have RB2 on the shelf.

I hope tribute is the version from the HBO series, that was their best stuff.

I hope not. I can already hear thousands of nerds moaning that it's not THE version of Tribute that was included.

I think the main problem there is the Stairway to Heaven riff that happens in the middle of the HBO version.... not to mention the end..

Dinosaur Jr is awesome.

Great to see more Dinosaur Jr., but I'm still waiting for my request, "Grab It" (from Without a Sound) to make Rock Band. I mean, it starts AND ends with guitar solos, how awesome is that! The whole song has incredible energy to it. Please, Harmonix?

Never listened to them outside of American Woman, but if those two songs are as fun on drums as that is, then consider me sold.

I first read "Anvil" as "Avail" which was awesome then I realized it wasn't, which was disappointing.

But holy shit, The Wagon!

Ohh Anvil, I'm not ashamed to say I teared up when Lips did his "We're doing to do this! We're going to be rock stars!" speech in the movie. THAT is passion.

The Wagon is one of the best Dinosaur Jr. songs. This is going to be awesome.

I'd consider selling my soul for "Freak Scene."

I would seriously dig Frank Sinatra (the cake song), their rendition of I will survive, perhaps perhaps perhaps, Long skirt..., and never there.

Great song, though I suspect the vocals would be pretty easy :P

@Warlock Didn't stop the Beastie Boys' inclusion.

I'd also love to see some cake: The Distance, Hem of Your Garment, Comfort Eagle, and Wheels all come to mind for great song selections.

Not to mention that Never There would be the most fun Cake song to play Ever (capital E).
