Tim Schafer to appear on Jimmy Fallon

So, gaming luminary Tim Schafer is set to appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on ~~October~~ Rocktober 2. Here's our guess as to how the show will play out:

In short, it will be the greatest episode of the show ever produced. It will be poignant, important and, most of all, funny. It will be critically hailed as one of television's greatest moments, and something that everyone with a television should see. Unfortunately, no one will watch it.

Sometimes, that's just how things go.

Zing! I actually like Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and am watching it right now. But I have to agree, Jimmy sucks and the most entertaining things about the show are the things around him. The Roots are awesome, some of the skits they make Jimmy do are nice. But Jimmy himself is ass. Give me back Conan any day.

it's such a shame that the roots are on this boring show. I guess it's cool that they got a steady gig close to home but man...

I'm going to watch this and probably around 10 million more gamers, but, does anyone outside of gaming knows who he is?

Yeah, Jimmy isn't all that funny, but man, 7th Floor West was one of the best things on TV all summer.

An even bigger shame is how awful Conan has become. I blame Leno's terrible writers.

Anyway, I'm glad NBC webcasts their shows, so I'll definitely stomach Fallon for the 15 minutes Tim Schafer's on.

Dare I say, EPIC!!

Great to see Brutal get its well deserved advertising and plugs, if you will.

Nobody loves Fallon. But I will be watching this because of the awesome nutshitness that is Tim Fucking Schafer.

Fallon and Schafer will fight with giant Q-tips.

Listen here, "Tim Schafer," I know you think we worry too much about sales, but I plan on buying five copies of Brutal Legend anyway. One to play, and the other four for my Double Fine shrine. It's been getting a bit stale lately.

I'd much prefer if he was on any other late night show, since I hate Fallon (the only good part is The Roots)

it's unfortunate jimmy fallon has his show. he was horrible in snl and he's horrible now. i'm only checking the show to see if shafer is on yet

he even has crappy guests. this russell guy is not funny whatsoever and ruined the sarah marshall movie

How did you not like his smash hit "inside of you, moving around inside of you" he may not be the funniest person Ive seen but he was hilarious in forgetting Sarah Marshall.

i used to get pissed when people used to say "give Jimmy a chance, Conan was bad his first few years"... did they not know Conan was unknown and a armature at this kinda thing. Jimmy ruined SNL and was unfunny in that show aswell.

yeah he ruined every skit cause he couldn't keep a straight face. he thought everything was sooooo funny that it ruined it.

wait conan was awesome his first few years. those were the years robert smigel was writing for him....now he's boring.

he promised he wouldnt change for the new timeslot and all the old characters would come. I think there's still truth to that, MB only appeared every couple months as it was even back on the old show. I have however noticed that he's stopped doing the string puppet dance at the start of the show

Tim Schafer was already kinda on Jimmy Fallon. Jason Sudeikis did a segment where he interviewed some people at E3 and one of them was Schafer.

wow i missed the part about october 2nd. few too many drinks. all i have to say is tonight's show has been horrible and so has jimmy's "humor"

don't get me wrong. that movie sucked. but russel brand is not funny. he even talks about the movie in his standup and how dumb he is. it's on comedy central right now.

I think Fallon's done a great job with the show. If you watch the show thinking about how much he sucked on SNL, which he did, then of course you're gonna hate it. I thought Tina Fey sucked on SNL, so when I watched 30 Rock for the first time, I thought it was god awful. Once I lightened up I realized how funny the show was.

im not sure why these oldschool game designers get so much cred when they only make a handful of games, half of which aren't even picked up outside of the extreme hardcore niche. Not one of my non-gamer friends has heard of psychonauts, grim fandango, full throttle, or even brutal legend which joystiq equates to the second coming of jesus.

Don't get me wrong, I played full throttle and it blowed. How about Jimmy gets someone that has made a SUCCESSFUL game in past 8 or 9 years

Why does your non-gamer friends' recognition of a game have anything to do with game developers getting credit within the gaming community? Your logic, if there is any, escapes me.

Hate on Fallon all you want, but at least he's a legitimate gamer who tries to put this stuff in the spotlight. That is cool of him.

I wish everyone here would remember that instead of talking about how they think he's horrible. I actually like him. And does anyone really think any other show would have Tim Schafer on?

@Vcize. That's true. I really appreciate that. He's done a segment with Natal, an interview with Morgan Webb and a skit at E3.

@bongoess That spot he has is really hard. How many hosts can sustain some kind of popularity at 12:30 at night?

Late Night TV is a business. A business makes money by selling ads. They sell ads by getting more viewers. They get more viewers by having guests that are well known and have gained popularity in recent times. If your average joe doesn't know who he is, than they won't care. If they bring on somebody who has made a wildly successful game such as Halo or Mario or Call of Duty, it would make much more sense. But no, they bring on a no-name that has made half-decent underground hits that have barely any name recognition. So there is the logic you were looking for. Any more question fuckle?
