All the half-joking Twitter talk of post-
PAX con SARS actually culminated this week with
confirmed cases of Swine Flu (H1N1) being the PAX pox affecting attendees. Rather than panic, take a look at the
CDC's documentation on the subject. Stay healthy, folks. What's everyone playing this weekend?
- Alexander Sliwinski (@XanderSliwinski): Made the horrible mistake of buying Assassin's Creed last weekend. Talk about buyer's remorse. Feel obligated to continue this weekend. In reality, probably play Arkham fight rooms and vent my bad purchasing decision on some thugs.
- Andrew Yoon (@scxzor): This is my last weekend with access to games before I go off to Tokyo. I'm hoping to get some time with Borderlands and some more time with Ratchet & Clank Future.
- Ben Gilbert (@BigBossBgilbert): Considering how messed up Batman looks at this point, I think I'm nearing the end of that joint. Though I'm sure I'll jump into the challenge rooms, it'll only be so long before The Beatles: Rock Band commands my full attention. Also, looking for new iPhone jams -- suggestions, folks?
- Christopher Grant (@ChrisGrant): If I can carve off a big enough chunk of time, I'll spend it smashing stuff in Red Faction: Guerrilla. I've also got one more level of Resident Evil 5 co-op to complete, if both Sheva and Chris (me!) can make the time. In reality, I'm pretty sure most of my weekend will be spent in an octopus's garden with The Beatles: Rock Band ... if Amazon can figure out how to deliver my game. C'mon, it's Friday!
- David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): My plate's pretty full this weekend. I've got Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story for review and I'm still punching and kicking my way through Arkham's inmate population in Batman: Arkham Asylum. When not playing those, I'll be making my way through Silent Hill: Origins on PSP.
- Dustin Burg (@SuperDunner): Mostly, I'll be playing Halo 3 in preparation for ODST's drop into retail. That's pretty much it ... oh, and sleep. Plenty of sleep.
- Griffin McElroy (@griffinmcelroy): The enjoyable portion of my weekend will be spent playing The Beatles: Rock Band. The unenjoyable portion will be spent wrestling with a single, non-removable corrupt file from my computer's hard drive.
- James Ransom-Wiley: Heading to one last summer bash down the shore -- Rock Band in tow. Rain, rain go away!
- JC Fletcher (@jcfletcher): I'm going to be staring at Muramasa in total awe.
- Justin McElroy (@JustinMcElroy): I'm still trying to play Champions Online but with limited friends who actually play the game my interest is waning. (Red Son@justinmcelroy, let's do this, people!) Also, Scribblenauts, MUA 2 and some Last Night on Earth.
- Kevin Kelly (@gadgetguy): I'm playing IL-2 Sturmovik and rolling up a couple of new D&D 4th edition characters while trying to finish my last straggling PAX stories. Also going back in time with some Urban Chaos: Riot Response from Rocksteady ... very pre-Batman. I'm attending a special Tron presentation today at Disney, which will bring out my inner fanboy. More than the D&D did.
- Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): I'll be playing Wet and recoiling in horror every time I think that I have to tell people I'm playing a game called "Wet."
- Randy Nelson (@DangerPenguin): It's going to be a battle for the big TV this weekend. I'm totally geared up to spend the weekend with Need For Speed: Shift, and there's still Arkham Asylum to solve ... but my lady friend has Wet and Metroid Prime Trilogy to beat, so I just might end up in my man cave, playing on the ol' CRT.
- Richard Mitchell (@SenseiRAM): On some weird whim, I've been tackling Mega Mans 1-8 on the Xbox Mega Man Anniversary Collection (it's backwards compatible and awesome). I had completely forgotten (or perhaps never finished?) the ending of Mega Man 2. Other than that, I'll be making my first Diablo II Nightmare run in ages. Oh, also some Professor Layton (the first one).
- Xav de Matos (@Xav): Putting the new TV through its paces with inFamous and Valkyria Chronicles, while plugging away at Puzzle Quest on my PSP.
- Justin Glow (@justinglow): (Making next year's flu.)

I'll be playing my new pickups Dead Space & Oblivion here, maybe a little GTA-CW & Castle Crashers on the side. I'm over the creepiness aspect of Dead Space and am now really digging it.
Looking forward to the review Dave, Mario & Luigi Partners in Time is one of my favorite DS games, mainly because of the humor and combat system.
Markez @ Sep 11th 2009 10:22PM
Oh, and granted I know it's likely just personal preference and all, but any tips on what to upgrade or use the power nodes on?
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 11th 2009 10:42PM
I liked to put a few into the suit for air because i always fucked up at the space sections, health or armor upgrades are kinda unnecessary if you consistently upgrade your suit. As for weapons my two favorite to power node were the Plasma Cutter since it will be your old standby/backup and the Line Gun cause that was my personal "OH SHIT! SHIT SHIT SHIT!" gun
Rein [Prime Minister of the city-state of New Bjork] @ Sep 11th 2009 11:30PM
If you put all of your nodes in your plasma cutter, you'll become an unstoppable force of kickassness. Put extra nodes into air supply or kineses if you want, but you don't really need to upgrade your suit. You shouldn't be getting hit anyway (even with the faster enemies that charge at you), so health isn't a big problem.
Sly Cooper, Attorney at Law @ Sep 11th 2009 10:08PM
just a bit of COD:WAW for me to keep me in decent shape for MW2. can't do much else since school and my social life have been bogging me down.
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 11th 2009 10:44PM
ah to be bogged down by a social life. Just keep rolling with the punches Sly, then you know, do an evade and a takedown after that
Sly Cooper, Attorney at Law @ Sep 11th 2009 10:50PM
dang, it's fun and all, but for some reason, every 15 minutes or so, i just think about how rusty i am in COD, and how i need to shape up before november. MW2 is gonna be sick. throwing knives? truly _modern_ guns? custom killstreaks? it's just plain awesome.
[ArchiGamer] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:56PM
That reminds me, I got to play W@W. Been meaning to play it for a while and I need some damn trophies, I'm still at level one for God sakes.
Sly Cooper, Attorney at Law @ Sep 11th 2009 11:08PM
there are a lot of easy trophies, many of which come from zombies, but the platinum is pretty hard because the game is a bitch on veteran.
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 11th 2009 11:18PM
veteran is easy as shit compared to 75k points on zombies.
Sly Cooper, Attorney at Law @ Sep 11th 2009 11:28PM
WHAT?! are you high wayne? the 75000 trophy was easy as hell. 3 of my real life friends and i are a really good zombie team, and we got to like 30 something on shi no. much easier and less frustrating than any level on veteran.
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 11th 2009 11:34PM
not when all your friends suck so you gotta solo it
Sly Cooper, Attorney at Law @ Sep 11th 2009 11:39PM
ahh, well all my real life friends who play COD are all sponsored players. they're that good. i've been called insanely good by a lot of people, and i'm one of the worst players out of my friends.
Emblazin @ Sep 12th 2009 12:50PM
Wayne you got a PSN? I'm pretty good at zombies add me outlawz1993
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 12th 2009 2:14PM
i only have a 360 right now, which is Mandalorian63 but obviously that doesnt help you much
Desert Eagle @ Sep 11th 2009 10:10PM
I'll be practicing combos in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, cause a shitstorm in Liberty City as Johnny K in GTA: Lost and Damned.... and play Kirby 64. Just because Kirby games kick ass and because I get tired of playing a lot of next-gen games and need to satisfy my inner old-school gamer.
Jinsenken @ Sep 11th 2009 10:11PM
I wish Swine Flu was called "Rainbow Berries!" (yest the exclamation mark is necessary), cause at least it'd sound like a cool thing to have and hear over and over on the news.
"This week's top story: A confirmed case of Rainbow Berries! has been...>_> confirmed...at a local school. More at 11"
[ArchiGamer] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:12PM
I'm continuing my Replay Month, if you will, with Okami. Its just a good game, and it just gets me excited for Okamiden even more.
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 11th 2009 10:12PM
Since I don't have anything new to play, I'm stretching every little ounce of enjoyment out of the few games I have until Uncharted 2. Things like Mass Effect, Bad Company, Assassin's Creed and Rock Band 2. My HDMI cord for ps3 died on me and I had the...displeasure...of going back to standard def for a week or so. Couldn't be happier that I have a new cord, I missed HD gaming.
Oh, I have a code for the multiplayer demo for Uncharted 2 that's starting next week and I couldn't care less about it. So, the first 50 people who send me a message on PSN (PSN= tmacairjordan87) will get their names put in a hat or something and I'll randomly select the winner. Don't bother asking if you know I don't like you :P
Oh, and please don't post here about it...I don't want Joystiq getting spammed, this is off topic enough but this is a pretty informal article. Just figured instead of tossing it I'd do something nice for you guys :P
Here's some more info on the demo http://ps3.ign.com/articles/102/1023958p1.html
tmacairjordan87 @ Sep 11th 2009 10:42PM
Congrats to Archigamer, a winnar is you!
Sorting through close to 300 messages was not fun, but I asked for it lol.
[ArchiGamer] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:45PM
SWEET!!
Finally I get my little dirty hands on Uncharted 2!!
And yes, you did ask for it, lol.
ToadStoolPorridge @ Sep 11th 2009 10:16PM
Gaming won't take up too much of my time this weekend. One of my friends who works in a school wants to me to do a design job for the senior class. He wants me to turn some flat object (like a surf board) into a bulletin board where all the seniors can post where they applied and where they got in. It'll be fun to do some shopping, graphic design, and painting. Hopefully, I'll be able to squeeze in some Hot Shots Golf and Modern Warfare. I can't wait for MW2.
Longhorn Slim @ Sep 11th 2009 10:17PM
Im going to play whatever I feel like it, you hear
Sly Cooper, Attorney at Law @ Sep 11th 2009 10:27PM
good for you.
Longhorn Slim @ Sep 11th 2009 10:30PM
yay!! cookie?
WINterfang @ Sep 11th 2009 11:34PM
no cookie for you >=(
Longhorn Slim @ Sep 12th 2009 12:24AM
but i likey cookie :(
WINterfang @ Sep 12th 2009 12:38AM
I made you a Potato Chip cookie :).
AND I EAT IT!!!! >=D.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington, Soon-To-Be-PSN: OrIsItAltonBrown] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:18PM
I've given up on the Final Fantasy marathon and have begun a new endeavor: the Zelda Marathon. I'm on A Link to the Past.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington, Soon-To-Be-PSN: OrIsItAltonBrown] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:19PM
Since I own a CD-i and all three Zeldas for it, should I play them, too?
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 11th 2009 10:21PM
oh God, those arent the cartoon ones with the "Geeeeeeez princess" are they?!
Mr Khan @ Sep 11th 2009 10:22PM
Yes. If you bothered to buy them, you should endure the appropriate punishment for having spent your money thus.
[ArchiGamer] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:25PM
Why in God's name do you own those titles?!
Yes, play them as punishment!!
WINterfang @ Sep 11th 2009 10:37PM
Mah Boy.
Alton Brown [ XBL: LordToastington, Soon-To-Be-PSN: OrIsItAltonBrown] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:48PM
I'll let you guys know how it goes. Honestly, the only reason I have them is because I collect kusoge.
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 11th 2009 10:19PM
Im getting the last of the achievements in Arkham Asylum which really I should be done with in about an hour after that im expecting gamefly to deliver Cabela's Big Game Hunter 08 because, well because im an achievement whore. If that doesnt come i think ill play Halo 3 to see if i can get up to lieutenant for that last vidmaster achievement in case you gotta have em done before ODST. I know what you're thinking, but when i first got XBL i messed up the process and created an entire new profile with my gamertag and got to err whatever 3 stars was before i got my regular profile linked.
Hog Robbrer @ Sep 12th 2009 10:37AM
I would play some double xp games if you have the maps.
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 12th 2009 2:36PM
yep i got all the map packs. gtag is Mandalorian63
goboColossus (LIVE, PSN - gobopop) @ Sep 11th 2009 10:20PM
I'm in complete dork mode right now and plan on pulling out Quidditch World Cup for GameCube. I've always had a soft spot for the game, but I haven't played it in like five years and I'm tired of waiting for a proper / better sequel on current systems.
Rock Band and Bad Company should keep my inner Potter-geek in check when I have to make face time with the outside world.
MystileArmor @ Sep 11th 2009 10:23PM
Playing a ton of Beatles Rock Band, that and I just picked up The Orange Box. Yes yes.. I had never played Half Life 2 before.... loving every minute of it though, even though the control scheme leaves a bit to be desired, I'll manage.
Mr Khan @ Sep 11th 2009 10:23PM
Still on Metroid Prime Trilogy, though now i'm right in the meaty core of Metroid Prime 2. They do seem to have made it slightly easier (as my easier experience with the infamous Boost Guardian can attest), though that could just be an issue of the advanced controls
AsherR [Planeteer | Power of The Hoff] @ Sep 11th 2009 10:24PM
I've randomly picked up Neverwinter Nights 2, so I think I'll play a bit of that. I might finish inFamous on my roommates PS3. And I'm sure I'll play some TF2. Speaking of which...
The Dark Wayne @ Sep 11th 2009 10:40PM
i wanna play TF2 with Nick Fury/David Hasselhoff! Add me my steam id is, wait for it.....TheDarkWayne
Heh @ Sep 11th 2009 10:26PM
I've had swine flu already. It's nothing serious. I'll keep playing aion and maybe tf2 through-out the weekend.
WINterfang @ Sep 11th 2009 10:36PM
One of my co-worker's mom had Swine Flu and apparently it fucking sucks. ( vomiting, diarrea and other things)
CaramelZappa @ Sep 11th 2009 10:27PM
I'm regretting my purchase of Resistance, but hopeful I'll like MGS4 better. Going to finish shatter, play some arkham asylum challenge rooms, the ever present Rez HD, and maybe some Wolfenstein.
Sly Cooper, Attorney at Law @ Sep 11th 2009 10:51PM
shatter is awesome, but the bosses can get pretty hard sometimes. it's really frustrating after you die for the 4th time just like 4 hits away from killing the boss.
CaramelZappa @ Sep 11th 2009 10:55PM
I'm really liking it, especially the boss battles. Some of them have given me trouble but it's so satisfying. Really refreshing to play a breakout style game with boss battles.
WINterfang @ Sep 11th 2009 10:31PM
I could use some Pork Chops right now.
Kinda pissed because I developed a freaking Hernia..dear god my life sucks.
I'll may be playing good old Sonic Unleashed but now to celebrate the announcement of Project Needlemouse =D.
WINterfang @ Sep 11th 2009 11:04PM
I can't believe I remember Dreamcast anniversary but Forgot 9/11...I'm a bad person =(
