Iggy Pop goes shirtless for Lego Rock Band

We can't even begin to thank Harmonix for giving us a shirtless version of Iggy Pop that we're not completely revolted by. The guy's really been put through his paces over the years, so it seems only deserving that he should be all gussied up by Lego for upcoming rhythm/music game, Lego Rock Band.

Jeux Video discovered the images, as well as a bit of gameplay with the iconic Stooges frontman. Unfortunately, the one major problem with licensing your likeness to a Lego game persists: You just look like a generic Lego dude! Is that Iggy Pop above? Sure, why not! People that could also be include, but are not limited to, certain versions of Eric Stoltz, and a muscle-bound Edgar Winter.

What is suppose to be the attraction to this game, than just lego figures?

If that becomes a confirmed song Mr. SpyderTaco, then I will build myself a time machine, go forward in time, and come back with that game.

The cheesy ass songs like Final Countdown and the Ghostbusters theme. Also there's silly mini-games like destroying buildings by doing better in songs or whatever. I dunno, haven't really looked into it cause the set list sells the game on its own.

I think this game is supposed to appeal more to kids than the other rock band games.

couldn't this be any old dude who is shirtless? This has to be the laziest form of celebrity representation I've ever seen. At least the in the other lego games you weren't supposed to be looking at an ACTUAL person.

Nothing. It's just an excuse to release YET ANOTHER music game, because they are ridiculously easy to churn out and sell like hotcakes [to hungry idiots].

Iggy Pop was never the frontman for MC5, guys. As far as I know, he never even worked with them. I think you got the MC5 mixed up with the Stooges.

Uh, stop me if you've heard this one, but I don't remember Iggy Pop even being a member of MC5, much less the frontman. I believe he was in a band called...oh, damn, I forget the fellow's name...somesuch and the Stooges. Yes, that's right.

Harmonix better double-check that Iggy Pop contract and make sure I can use his shirtless glory for "You Give Love a Bad Name" without being sued.

People sue for all kinds of crap these days just to make a quick buck. I wouldn't be surprised...

so first jack white, and now shirtless iggy pop? (you know the lego dude looked like jack white even if he's not confirmed to be in the game)

I've been wondering if that was actually supposed to be Jack since the first pictures came out. I found it odd nobody mentioned it.

i remember like 2 or 3 people, along with myself, mentioning it when the screen showed up.

I believe that even though some White Stripes songs are in Guitar Hero games, Jack White is one of those artists who says negative things about music games.

So wait, maybe I missed this, but when did Rock Band turn into Guitar Hero and start including celebrity appearances, Lego or no? (The Beatles Rock Band aside)

Besides, what Lego-Rock-Band-playing young(ish) kid is even going to know who Iggy Pop is?

I was wondering that myself. It is also a bad sign. GH started going downhill when it started using celebs like that and making other incarnations of their games (ex. GH Aerosmith is the same game as GH 3, where the only thing different is its with an Aerosmith them). In this game Rock Band will be doing both in just one game.

Yeah, this is extremely disappointing to me. I know Traveler's Tales is running the show and not Harmonix, but seriously. Celebrity musicians should not be in music games unless its mainly celebrating their music and not just the game that they're being put in. :/

He should have been in GH5. Hell, if he really wanted to be in RB, then wait for RB3.

Being in the game as a Lego figure is like not being in the game at all.

Iggy Pop has never worn a shirt. If you can find a picture of him in a shirt, it's definitely been Photoshopped.

Ugh, and people say Guitar Hero has reached the lowest point.

I know. Good thing Rock Band is nowhere near the bottom. They're awesome and aren't bringing a game full of pop music intended for 8-year-old girls.

I honestly don't get the complaints about the game. It's very clearly aimed at a totally different audiance, something DLC alone wouldn't have been able to achieve. But that aside, if you just want the songs, they can all be exported into RB.

How can you even begin to compare this to Guitar Hero *9*?

But does he roll around in Lego glass?
