NintendoWare Weekly: Spaceball, Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge

DSiWare
- Art Academy: First Semester (Nintendo, 1 player, 800 DSi Points): Nintendo turns the DSi into an art class with its latest DSiWare title. The first semester of this virtual course covers the basics of pencils and painting, providing insight into texturing and blending techniques. Don't expect it to teach you how to paint those happy little trees, though.
- Oscar in Toyland (Virtual Playground, 1 player, 800 DSi Points): The self-proclaimed "fabulous jump-and-run game" stars Oscar and places him in a variety of different environments themed around soda, candy, amusement park rides and more during his trek across Toyland. We suggest you keep your eyes peeled for creepy bunny rabbits.
- Texas Hold 'Em Poker (Gameloft, 1 player, 600 Wii Points): Featuring support for up to six players, this is ... poker, pretty much. There are also head-to-head modes if you're looking for something with a faster pace.
- Spaceball: Revolution (Virtual Toys, 1 -2 players, 800 Wii Points): In space, you can't hear a ball scream -- mostly because balls don't feel pain. Also, they don't have mouths. Nonetheless, they do have the cognitive capacity for a puzzle-based revolution, so take that.
- Mart Racer (Joju Games, 1 - 4 players, 800 Wii Points): No, it's not a typo. The game really is called Mart Racer and, unlike the kart racers before it, takes racing to a whole other level: the supermarket. It reminds us of that two-part episode of Married with Children.
- Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge (NES, 1 - 2 players, 500 Wii Points): Made by the same team that brought us Super Dodge Ball, this sports title throws the rule book out the window in favor of a more chaotic, no-rules experience. There's just something special about underwater martial arts that brings a tear to our eye.

My sentiments exactly mwrench! I remember renting that game almost every day when I was younger! I'd assume they haven't released "Crash 'n the Boys: Ice Challenge" (A.K.A. Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey Bu: Subette Koronde Dairantō) for VirtualConsole?

I'm now entering a time machine to go back in time and recommend you just buy the game instead of renting it every day.
Boooo doooo boo doo deee!!!!!!
And yes this game is fun! River City Ransom fans rejoice!

Hey look, something relatively original out of the DSiWare channel for a change. Granted, the Oscar game sounds stupid, but at least it's not another Art Style, Brain Age, or other fluff (i.e. clocks, magic tricks, etc) we've been getting.
Art Academy seems like a teaching game, which is a little different I guess. Interesting idea, though I'm not sure learning to draw with a stylus is the best method...

So WiiWare is now at 124 releases.
Next week sounds PERFECT for Cave Story.
Storm Eagle [Resident Capcom Megafan] @ Sep 14th 2009 3:09PM

Caveman Games is quite an experience. Not a good one mind you, but an... experience nonetheless.
T-Patch @ Sep 14th 2009 3:15PM
Cave Story won't be ready untill, at the very least, October, as Nicalis is gonna send the DLC in for approval at the end of September.

The really did a number to the Nintendo Channel, with the channel's size going down from 121 blocks to 103, and it's save file from 120-something to 11 BLOCKS!!! O_O

Arikado @ Sep 14th 2009 3:32PM

Mr Khan @ Sep 14th 2009 3:38PM
I can't wait to download it and figure out how many hours i've wasted on Fire Emblem and Brawl.
Mr. Fister @ Sep 14th 2009 3:42PM
You know you can just check your stats for Brawl in the actual game, right?
I'm nearing 200 hours myself.
Mr Mobius - the wandering artist @ Sep 14th 2009 4:55PM
Awesome. Saves me having to go through the daily times like used to be back at the start when the number was low.
MLS @ Sep 14th 2009 3:31PM
That episode of Married... With Children was awesome. Al Bundy is still a true American hero.
Frakhead @ Sep 14th 2009 3:46PM
