Rumor: Toys R Us ad leaks $50 Wii price cut

even if this was $50 I don't think I'd get one. for the life of me I can't think of one game I'd like to play on it. but hey I'm sure there's millions of people who will buy one at this price.

Seriously Space? For $50 bucks I think it'd be great... the Nintendo first party franchise titles alone are enough of a sell for me on that. Hopefully no gamer is too cool to pick up a Wii if it's only $50... that'd be a bit sad.

Yeah, comparatively, the Wii is still not a good deal at $199. $149, maybe. I might consider buying one when it drops to $100. Until then, I'll stick with my 360.

@Soulblade, I used to own one but the first party titles are what drove me away. I'm just tired of Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. I gave paper mario, twilight princess and MP3 a shot but it just seemed more of the same. I need to see some new IPs that are a bit stronger before I get back on board with them.

hmmm then I think we have differing tastes for sure... I love those classic Nintendo games... I'll always be one of the first to go get a new Zelda, Mario, or Smash title...

I think Zak & Wiki was entertaining as well as Boom Blox - those are completely different from titles Ive seen on other consoles. Tatsunoko v. Capcom is going to be entertaining I think.

I guess to each his own - but I've continued to enjoy the first party titles. I wouldn't mind some new things though, as long as they are at the same quality.

I'm not too picky, and I am a gamer. I played mario, zelda, and metroid growing up, but I'm done now...it's time to move on and play one of the other great titles out there. I prefer games that have strong stories and character, something engaging. I don't like games that are essentially toys. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not my thing...so no, I wouldn't even spend $50 for a Wii

And at least you could play those awesome stylized bloody games on the Wii if you hate Nintendo's products so much (Mario Galaxy is ranked 3rd overall on Gamerankings for a reason, you know...).

If this wasn't Kotaku's exclusive, I would believe it, but they are pretty desperate for attention for their ads. Joystiq seems to be getting more attention from game companies these days and why not, most gamer people comment here, so the ads go to people with the most followers.

I'd prefer a price cut and a black Wii.

I don't see anything about it that looks fake. It's Toys R Us' header font that you get in the paper every other week. The picture of the Wii being so close to that dotted rule looks a bit amateurish, but hardly fake.

you know what's fake? no ads mention "PRICE CUT!" in their flyers. In cases like that the common pull is "NEW LOW PRICE!"

Sure they do. One of the recent PS3 price cut ads I remember seeing had the words 'price cut'. I think it was...Target? I dunno. I'm too lazy to go look it all up now :D

Anyway, 'price drop' is most common from what I've noticed, but 'price cut' is not abnormal.

You haven't been following industry news for long have you? "Concrete" info is few and far between when it comes to price drops...

I've been following the industry for years, I just don't like the way it's done. I'd just like my mother to be able to get a Wii without fear of her being killed in a moshpit at Wal Mart on black friday.

What's on your holiday list? I haven't really started mine yet... I do know my next purchases will probably be Uncharted 2 and R&C

Admittedly I'm getting a little old for holiday lists, but it was my mother who brought up the idea of getting a Wii for me for x-mas, so I'm certainly not going to tell her no. If it gets the price drop though I'm going to tell her about some of the cheaper games on amazon, like No more heroes or zack and wiki (like $10 each or so).

My dad's side I'm letting him handle the big games like Galaxy and Zelda and all those. I was lucky enough to save enough money for the ps3/360 games I wanted so I'm all clear there.

Knowing you, you're not going to be satisfied with NMH or Z&W. I'm not too into fighters, so perhaps that's my issue with NMH. As much as I love what they did with Z&W, it devolves too much into sheer trial and error. Still, for what you can buy it for nowadays it's hard to pass up. My favorites are still ExciteTruck and BoomBlox, outside of the notable biggies like Galaxy and Zelda of course.

Took a break from Dead Space last night and took my first few steps/hours into Oblivion, and have to say it's giving me that same feeling of 'I don't know what the fuck to do' as I had when beginning Fallout 3. If that's any indicator, I suppose that means I'll spend waaaaaaaay too many hours on it.

Be careful with Oblivion Markez, it's waaay bigger than Fallout 3. You can easily spend 150 hours just with the main game, and still not explore most of the caves/forts/ruins scattered around the map. Don't even get me started with all the DLC, that's another 50 hours at least.
