This Crystal Chronicles might actually be the good one. At least it's finally a full fledged affair. And the Gamecube one was just..... off.

I actually enjoyed all of the FF:CC's so far. Mostly because I had friends who lived close to me who also enjoyed and had the game, meaning lots of fun multiplayer. Most people I talk to who didnt enjoy the gamecube game didnt have friends who also had and enjoyed the game. I almost never played that game single player and loved it.

I played this game at E3. I do not have high hopes for it. It's like an action game, but without the action, and with a ton of random little sidegames in it like a shooting gallery, piloting an airship, and other random crap. It feels haphazard.

That in-yo-face font for "The Crystal Bearers" is certainly quite a contrast to the more elegant "Final Fantasy" font.

Not sure if it's a good idea or a bad idea. I guess it depends on how they plan to launch it. If it's a low-key launch, it's a good idea, because the game could pick up legs in the after-holiday time, when people have lots of loose cash from Christmas and something to spend it on, and the game won't get lost in the shuffle

If it's a high-profile launch, it's a bad idea, because high profile launches simply don't happen the day after Christmas. Though i remember Sonic Heroes launching on January 7th or something, none too far after, and it did well enough in the end.

I think this is either the smartest move in the world or the absolute dumbest to launch the day after Christmas. I can certainly see the logic behind it, at least. The 26th is always one of the busiest days of the year for stores, but obviously it's because people are returning things.
Although given the Wii's comparatively lackluster lineup (no notable 3rd party games!) for the holidays compared to the HD systems, you'd think Square would pull out all the stops to get this on the shelves a few weeks earlier...

More than likely, assuming this date is accurate, they're sending it off to die, though. Which is a shame because it looks really cool. I don't usually have any interest in Final Fantasy games, but this looks too much like Zelda with psychokinesis for me to pass up on.

Oh my... do want!

The original Crystal Chronicles was one my favorite games last gen... the art style and setting was excellent, but it had only one problem: you needed a GBA and a friend to truly enjoy the game. Unfortunetly, that's why too many people didn't enjoy the game.

This new game seems a lot better... I'm glad that Square is trying a different thing... the whole super-heroe thing in this game looks awesome... being able to fly in the skies, telekineses, the Skies of Arcadia vibe, etc... everything looks great.

It will be a nice entry in the Crystal Chronicles series...

They need to make a new one with the ability to use the DS and connect to wireless. Maybe with the WiiHD and the DS2

They need to do this with Zelda 4Swords, too!

Yeah, I'm also really looking forward to it. It's got an excellent aesthetic, and I like what appears to be a focus on adventuring rather than level grinding and stat boosting.

No kidding. Come on localization team, you have to shorten that. When the nerdy little 10 year olds come into my store and ask for that or something else like Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds: Stardust Accelerator WC 2009, all I want to do is strangle him.
But it’s not his fault; it’s those damn companies who refuse to break away from "traditions."
Just call it Crystal Bearer, we'll get the point.

And yes, there's a sequel which is Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2: Raiduo Kuzunoha VS King Abaddon

I got the gamecube one for free with the system, and it was so bad that I was still offended by getting it. Thankfully I got wind waker with the system for free too (any player's choice game), so the gamecube was redeemed to me.

I haven't seen a single vid of this game that suggests the gameplay is anything special. It certainly looks polished as far as presentation goes, but the second word I'd use to describe or assess what I've seen of the game is 'strange'. As one poster up top said, so far it just looks like a weird assortment of different gameplay styles haphazardly mashed into a single game.

Of course, if ya got links that'd show me otherwise, I'd appreciate them. I'm starved for a decent third party Wii exclusive right now, after all (and the last two hyped ones, Muramasa and TCon, were huge disappointments to me - well, not TCon, I expected nothing special out of that one).

Don't know what TCon is...

I just finished Cursed Mountain, that was pretty good. In a 'B minus' sort of way, not in an 'omg this is the reason to buy a Wii' sort of way.

But it's the first survival-horror-ish game on Wii that achieves the holy trinity of not-a-port, not-on-rails, *and* not-completely-sucky, so I think it's worth playing.

I've got high hopes for Silent Hill... yes, luckily I didn't include 'not-a-remake' on the above requirements list...
