Wipeout HD, Fury expansion bundled for Blu-ray in Europe
PSN's WipEout HD and WipEout HD: Fury wiLl relEase In a retAil bunDle tHis OctoBer in EuRope. The £20 package will hit the shopping circuit on the 16th, just over a month from today.
We've followed up with Sony America about whether the disc will release in North America -- but don't get too hopeful. We're not sure if any of the Blu-ray compilations of PSN titles released in Europe have ever made it across the pond (or the Pacific). However, if you're adamant about owning the game on a disc, there's always the option of importing, thanks to the PlayStation 3's dismissal of region locking.
Update: A Sony representative let us know the company has "no plans to release this in NA at this time."

Yes! I've been waiting for this! I hate DLC, but I love Importing! Exclamation point!
stormtrooper190 (IcelandTerrorist) @ Sep 14th 2009 11:14AM

SpyderTaco (PSN: Ar4chNova89) @ Sep 14th 2009 12:10PM
I feel for you, but it's well worth the wait.
One of the best downloadable games I've ever played. It's funny because it seems like the DLC is bigger than the game itself. Overall the entire experience feels like it SHOULD be a disk-based game because it is so massive.

PleAse... DoN't evEr tyPe liKe ThIs agAin... Anyway Wipeout is epic and I hope this comes to the US. =)
Solace @ Sep 14th 2009 11:23AM
you just buy the game in the US PlayStation store...
captainprotonx @ Sep 14th 2009 11:31AM
People like discs.
Orion @ Sep 14th 2009 11:29AM
Dang it.. if this comes to the US I'll not be very happy at all. I like having something of some type of value, and a box to put on the shelf. I'll feel very gypped if this comes out for the same price as the downloadable versions.
linebeginstoblur @ Sep 14th 2009 11:37AM
If it's for the same price? Given the production costs of Blu-ray discs, the packaging, the distribution, etc., I'd expect it to be a little more than the cost of getting it through the PSN.
Archon (PSN: Archonik, XBL: DarkARHN) @ Sep 14th 2009 11:41AM
The price is 20 pounds as stated above. The cost of downloading it from the PSN is 19.98. I am mad as I love boxes but already bought the game online :/
captainprotonx @ Sep 14th 2009 11:37AM
Import! Import!
bluenocturnex @ Sep 14th 2009 11:40AM
I like DL better because you don't have to swap out discs, and you can trade with others.
Chris @ Sep 14th 2009 12:45PM
Yup. No Disc-swapping is what makes Wipeout great. You can instantly jump in right after quitting Killzone/COD etc.
And since its DLC I was able to let my brother download the game back home for free, so we can both chill online.
j.howlett @ Sep 14th 2009 11:54AM
why make the region locking thing sound negative
CaramelZappa @ Sep 14th 2009 12:16PM
Because it stops people from playing games that people in other countries get to play?
j.howlett @ Sep 14th 2009 1:24PM
there hasn't been any for ps3 games so far. i was joking about the use of the word dismal.
jayeffar @ Sep 14th 2009 1:28PM
...but they didn't use the word "dismal"... they said "dismissal of region locking", as in "they don't have it". Nothing negative there.
mahouneko @ Sep 14th 2009 8:48PM
Region-locking can be enabled on the PS3. The library exists; it's just that no one has cared enough to actually use the region-lock on the PS3 and I'd much prefer that the PS3 stays region-free (for games). My current PS3 library is almost entirely made up of Japanese region games with the exception of R&C: Quest For Booty.
Divine @ Sep 14th 2009 2:10PM
I'd have much preferred SCEE focusing their efforts on releasing the GoW collection on Blu-ray in the EU instead of PAIN & WipEout...
Rocks @ Sep 14th 2009 2:22PM
Super Neat-O!
Someday i'll even beat this game!
