First (glowing) Uncharted 2 reviews released

If you're one of those people who judges the value of games based on numerological qualifiers, you'll be pleased to know that a few print publications have had their Uncharted 2 review scores posted online. Surprising nobody, PlayStation: The Official Magazine (which features Nate Drake on its upcoming October issue) awarded the game a perfect 5 out of 5 score and wreathed it with the magazine's monthly "Editor's Choice" award.

However, French publication PSM3 really went above and beyond with the accolades, giving the game a score of 21 ... out of 20. The mag summed up the game with a single word: "M-O-N-S-T-R-E-U-X!!!" According to the understanding we gleaned during our one semester of French tutoring, this can be translated to mean, "my strudel!" Impossible math and random pastry shout-outs? Man, French game reviews are weird.

There is no question if this game is going to be good, if not amazing. But will it be better than Batman for GOTY. Who would have thought I would say something like that?

I think U2 will be GOTY without a doubt.

My hopes are high right now but between Batman, Drakes and MW2... Just going by the fan base, MW2 will probably take it. Which makes me mad because other great games like Valkyria Chronicles get completely overlooked lol

I try to keep my expectations low due to past burns *CoughCoughKaneAndLynchCough* but it's tough with all the positive press the game get's as of late. (I actually passed on Uncharted until I played it at a friends place lol)

Not many games that are exclusive get goty. I am trying to figure out if I can think of a goty that was exclusive during the wii, 360, and ps3 era. I dont care about goty and dont follow it, only reason why I know who won is because of this website. Maybe gears 1 or mgs 4 got it when they came out. If they didnt dont you think they should of. I remember call of duty 4, fallout 3, and i think gta 4. If i am wrong please correct me so i know :).

I cant believe someone would rate a game on a scale of 1-20

It's really not that strange. A 20 point scale is no different from rating a game 1-10 in 0.5 point increments. Plenty of magazines and websites do that.

It allows for more precise scoring and gives your more wiggle room to drop points due to graphics or story and have the game still have a solid rating.

hell they might as well just score it on a scale of 100...lol

As much I am an PS3 and Uncharted fanboy, let's wait until the non-Sony mags review this. It might be that good, but a 21/20 doesn't seem unbiased.

Just because it's a Sony only mag doesn't mean they're afraid to be honest.

That said the 21 out of 20 IS a wee bit much.

I'm sure the game will average somewhere between 8.5 and 9.0.

It's not showing up on my machine, but It's either from Gundam where the main character gets smacked in the face or a kitten put in a dollhouse so it looks like a giant.

Son, this is a guaranteed nin'er-higher, excluding Eurogamer and a couple others.

I'm predicting around 9.6 from IGN.

IGN gave it a 9.5

Maybe it's backwards - 20/21.

I think it will be great and all, but how can anyone take that place seriously? I'm not even counting the fact that it's a console-exclusive mag (or that they're french :P), but anyone who makes a mockery of their own scale can't be taken seriously.

I'll wait for the real reviews.

I am sure they wrote "MONSTRUEUX" and not "MONSTREUX"

Yup!! And I just finished playing Uncharted on crushing mode for the 5th time last night =)

It's M-O-N-S-T-R-U-E-U-X and not MONSTEUX (which mean anything in french ...). In the conclusion : "Long, visually stunning, deep and explosive, Uncharted 2 combines all the qualities you can find in a videogame, and more! A new milestone has been reached in the videogame history."

That's what I told them, thank you for repeating it. They didn't correct it, the McElroys can't type today.

I hope there is a big twist towards the end like Drake's Fortune. Perhaps this time it'll go from action/ adventure to vertical shooter

This game is going amazing, that being said I think they went over board with that score.They should have giving it it's 20/20 and moved on.

Maybe it's just me, but in that screenshot it looks like Nathan is taking fire from a helicopter gunship right in the family jewels. Things don't look good for the Drake bloodline, unless he has an adamantium jockstrap or something.
