HBO files trademark for True Blood game

With True Blood character likenesses (hey Jason and Tara!) already showing up in Left 4 Dead 2 this year, it certainly took HBO long enough to wake up and smell the O+. Superannuation has noted a US trademark filing for a video game based on the down-home vampire series, which should make fangbangers everywhere happy.

Of course, there's no word of what the game -- if one ever comes to sunlight -- will entail. HBO's never really sunk its teeth into major video game development before. Anyone remember those Sopranos games?

They're an important mythological symbol in our culture, and have been for a while. They're not going away. They may leave the mainstream, but vampire stories will continue to evolve with us.

I'd like to point out that the Vampire Diaries were written first, THEN the True Blood novels, Twilight wasn't until around 2005.

Hey here's an idea: try watching the show!

It has a lot more than vampires, and its guaranteed to hook you in. There's a reason why this show is critically acclaimed. ALSO this is a very adult oriented show i.e. the heart cooking scene, vampires ripping humans to shreds (with a LOT of gore), or even vampires being staked (SPLAT!), and tons of nudity, which c'mon... is what people want to see.

To anyone who thinks this is just a twilight ripoff, well it just shows how uniformed you are. Why not actually make a valid opinion by watching it (like me) instead of whining about how sick you are of vampires, or pretending to know what you're talking about (cough Marius.. cough)... Besides HBO has a pretty good track record, so why not?

I'm not a vampire "fan" so to speak, but I great show is a great show. I couldn't care less about Dracula and I get douche-chills when I here anything about Twilight, but True Blood is great. It's well written, great characters, adult oriented and overall it is very entertaining. I don't know if a True Blood game would be any good though.

Please do not lump True Blood in with the other stuff. That's like saying Lord of the Rings is the same as Harry Potter, like Star Trek is the same thing as Mass Effect. Same general subject matter != same thing.

I will admit though that I think True Blood is targeted towards those who like men, because it's the sexy male vampires that keep friends and me watching. I am IN LOVE with Bill.

1. It's on right before Hung and Entourage

Holy crap, that's such a bad show. My girlfriend made me watch an episode the other day and I couldn't take it for more than about 30 minutes. The horrible Southern accents and ridiculous sex scenes (not too mention the plot) were just too much for me.

I asked her why she watched this crap and she told me "It's cheesier than Twilight!" I was like, "That's a selling point?!"

I've had a love affair with vampires ever since I dressed as Dracula for Halloween when I was 4 (and then again at 5 and 6). With that in mind, I feel I can say that we are totally over-saturated with vampire media. Totally and completely. I can't stand the teenie vampire romances (Twilight being the latest offender.) I myself am a fan of the brutal, and sometimes aristocratic vampire.

Anyway

I watch this show regularly. I find it a little trashy, but funny enough to keep me going. I wont touch any videogame adaptation with a ten-foot-poll.
