Now Square Enix feels bad and notices that PS3 is getting a HUGE support in Japan after the price drop. JRPGS are making a come back. We want more support for PS3 !!!

Not exactly...
MS signs contracts with Devs to have a one year exclusive. It's good for the devs as MS provides some funds and support in exchange for the year exclusivity and it is apparently easier to code for and port a 360 game over to PS3.

However, SONY won't license the title on their system when this tactic is used unless their is some "substantional" new content.

Oh and look... one year after release, Star Ocean comes out for PS3. What a suprise.

Hmm... let's look at the titles that suddenly appear one year after their release on 360.
-Castle Crashers
-Star Ocean
-Ninja Gaiden 2
-Eternal Sonata
Etc.

Yeah...I think they tried to go with the dry-lifeless tone similar to Fran in FFXII, but failed horribly. Although I know its not that grand..I am still getting it when it comes to the PS3.

...and to think this game and FFXIII made me buy a PS3 with out question back in 07. Better late than never I guess....now if we can get Magna Carta 2 I will be happy (yes I know its a below average RPG...I just love the art style lol)

Import PS3 version or GameFly 360 version?

It's not bad for a typical JRPG. Combat is alright and the story is more or less predictable but my main gripes were the characters. I mean, if you're familiar with JRPGs then you know what to expect but man... some of the characters really got on my nerves in this game. Kay?

*feels the rage building*

I, for one, did not care for it. Till the End of Time was waaay better. If you want a good, JRPG, however, you could do worse than the Persona series.

The extra voice tracks don't matter that much and unless they add a bunch more crap, you should just rent it. Its not a horrible game, just not anything perticularly new to the genre or series. One thing I will say is that they have one of the creepiest little girls in a Jrpg.

Oh and I'd get the PS3 version. My 360 verson was prone to freezing and locking up during battles and that got really old after you battle 45+ minutes and THEN you encounter a boss you fight for ANOTHER 30 mins only to have the game freeze up on you forcing you to start over.

Apparently tht was a result of a bad pressing of the discs or so I've read. Anyway, 1 blu-ray is better than 3 DVDs IMO considering if you want to backtrack to other areas you need to swap discs. Lame.

it was an ok game. but grind became a chore when you have to do 8 area changes just to get the damn black roses. then 2 area changes and a discswap to get the other rose just so i could get the friggen special ending.

side quests require so much back tracking and grinding.

yeah the item maker girl the angel the child all grate on the ears and nerves
individual level ups were an annoyance as well.

i liked the combat and the board system for encounters. but standard JRPG fare and story.

Question: Did the US version of the 360 release have an option to switch the dialogue? English voice-overs in JRPGs have not exactly been kind to my sanity (I bitched out the Tidus MC at the Dear Friends Concert in 2004).

Because if the option to switch the dialogue didn't exist, then I'm going to have to import it, complete with the Moon Speak.

V-Dub! Representing Deutchland!

On topic, I liked Star Ocean on the 360 but by the time I got to the end, I just didn't wanna grind anymore since I was too weak to do anything else. Maybe I'll finish it one day.

(Probably not)

So much for Microsoft trying to secure Japanese games as exclusive to the 360 and having several of them eventually come to the PS3. Not surprising, considering the number of PS3s in Japan compared to 360s. They will just give a short burst of 360 sales in Japan.

Also not surprising to see Playstation mainstays like Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto, etc. come to the Xbox due to its large install base outside Japan.

This has been a crazy console generation.

Damn, that sucks that it isn't a good game. Until the End of Time was a lot of fun. I liked that even when you were strong enough to beat the game, there were really hard enemies/areas out there that made it somewhat worthwhile to chase down the awesome items. That was the one pitfall of FF7. Once you got the best gear, there wasn't much to do with it.

Wow, so the PS3 is going to get the dirty thirds of the sloppy seconds of JRPG's with this game?

Hope it doesn't catch the herpes.

Okay, back in reality, this is really meaningless of SE. They need to cut their losses and let the Star Ocean series die already. Most dull piece of shit I ever played.

The skill upgrading system was mediocre, the story was boring (And if you completed the third game, you knew that in reality, NONE OF THIS MATTERS) and the combat worked half the time and didn't half the time.

Oh, let's not forget that SE fucked over the american players by sticking the CG imagery in the battle over the drawn images in an attempt to, POINTLESSLY I MIGHT ADD, improve the chances of american sales.

Please, SE, don't waste your resources and money on another game in this series. It's so... MEH.

Didn't this game suck? Don't get me wrong I like this step towards removing console exclusives, but is Star Ocean really worth being excited over? It's not like this is Halo on the PS3 or Uncharted on the 360.

I get what your saying.

The reason this is a big deal is because all past games of the SO franchise (except 2) came to Playstation consoles.

Most fans (like myself) expected The Last Hope to come to the PS3.
You can imagine the reaction when they said it was coming exclusively to the 360.

It was the same thing with Ace Combat 6 really...

Joy, a sub-average game remade on PS3. Now the question is, getting off my ass to change a disc once every 30 hours, or, Waiting 30 minutes just to play it and sacrificing 5 GB of storage. hmmm.

Oh that would be cool, the game looked pretty mediocre hopefully it gets the usual PS3 tweaks that most games like this will get (like Oblivion, Eternal Sonata, etc got).

Hard to say if this would be worth getting with White Knight Chronicles and 3 Final Fantasy games all coming to PS3 next year. If it gets a nice polish then yes.

Really? I thought Lost Odyssey was pretty sub-par... not as bad as Infinite Undiscovery but I didn't really enjoy the 22 hours I plunked in. Did I give up too early?

The only JRPG I have really enjoyed from this generation was Valkyria Chronicles (if you count that), though I will admit I have not yet played Eternal Sonata or Star Ocean... and I doubt I will ever have time to play Eternal Sonata.

Yeah, there's a dumb Internet campaign petition thing going on in Japan to stop the release of Tales of Vesperia for PS3, since the 360 owners feel like they were just beta testers for the PS3 release.

Morons.

If you'd take one look at my PS2 memory card and saw how much of my life I spent playing Star Ocean 3, you would know I'm getting SO4 on PS3 day one. I think a few of my files literally have 800 hours on them... my only 4D file has about 500 hours on it. Hopefully I can get sucked into SO4 like that.
