Sony: 250GB HDD + Uncharted 2 PS3 bundle 'complete fabrication' [update]

A PlayStation 3 Slim bundle containing a 250GB hard drive and Uncharted 2 was leaked by an anonymous tipster at Engadget. Though no price or release date info was provided, Engadget was able to independently confirm the bundle's legitimacy. We've reached out to Sony for comment ~~and have yet to hear back as of publication~~ [see update below], though a representative from Uncharted 2 developer Naughty Dog had yet to even hear of the bundle.

Considering we heard about the larger hard drive nearly a month ago via an FCC filing (those things don't lie people!), we're pretty sure the Sony's just holding off on an announcement until the Tokyo Game Show next week. Those three UK-based PS3 bundles now seem to be that much more likely, don't they?

Update: Sony America says, "That tip is a complete fabrication." To be clear, this statement does not represent SCE (Japan) or SCEE (Europe), though it does absolutely deny the existence of any 250GB PlayStation 3 bundle in the US this year.

Seriously, man, there are dozens of gaming blogs out their like Joystiq - if you think this site sucks (which you repeatedly claim over the tiniest things) it would take no effort to migrate somewhere else.

There was one point where you actually dispensed with the sniped criticisms that infest your posts and made some decent points. I know a lot of people are rude to you here (and would have a strong case for being so), but I'm asking you politely: why can't you just post your opinions on Nintendo posts, which are plentiful. Why do you have to attack all the other posts?

Just try to be less like the guys you repeatedly attack, and you'd get that victory over them that you seem to crave.

1. rude to him? you should have seen some of the things he's said to some people on here. way beyond rude.
2. he's not a nintendo fanboy. he's a 360 fanboy.
3. (this is going to sprinkles) how did you come back? you got IP banhammered. did you change ISP's or something? just to post on joystiq?

Many ISPs don't give out static IP addresses. So if I want to get around Megavideo's annoying time limits, all I have to do is unplug my modem for a few seconds, plug it back in, then unplug my router for a few seconds and plug it back in. My ISP sees that the IP I had is no longer in use so when I reconnect to the internet I get a new IP.

IP bans are the most pointless things in the world if you know what you're doing.

There is something known as a MAC address that is more unique than an IP address, however even this can be changed without too much effort.

heh sony cant let ms have all the attention. the slim is a better deal in hardware but this bundle isnt as good since only 1 controller and the console is just the standard black.

but it come with 09's GOTY :P

The way they are Advertising now on TOP of the fact that they said they already have ads lined up for GT5 I'm pretty sure they are going to market the hell out of Uncharted 2

Great news for those who haven't yet picked up a PS3

Speaking of Uncharted, the multiplayer beta is simply awesome. All those comments about it being crowbarred in seem to be completely unfounded. October can't come soon enough!

The bundle looks sweet too.

I'm sorry but I still find the MP in Uncharted 2 not be all that great was able to play the demo and the beta. Both weren't all that great.

Still can't wait to play it though, Uncharted 2 SP looks AMAZING!

I just got off the Uncharted 2 Online Multiplayer and I Loved it! Plunder is so much fun! This game and MW2 will consume my life this winter!

Considering MOST people wont buy a 360 Again JUST to get that MW2 model and not as many people own a PS3 and this is one HELL of a game to start off your collection....I'd say this would sell more...at the same time...logic has no place in these parts

Uncharted 2 is so awesome that I haven't even bothered to get hyped over it. I will be buying it day one on strength of the original alone.

I've been trying to sell the copy of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune in my store, but I haven't been able to get anyone to buy it. It's only £15, and I tell everyone who will listen how awesome it is, and yet no one will bite. It makes me sad.

I was thinking the 250GB bundle wouldnt be out until the stock on the 160GB models were depleted and I have still seen those around heavily....I suppose they could be gone by the time Uncharted 2 drop tho....

and I PRAY they do a GT5 250GB Bundle as well

all their first party games get bundles so GT5 one of their biggest franchises will definitely get a bundle. but why do you care i thought you have a ps3 are you planning to trade up?
