Not to sound like a fanboy or anything (which I admit I can sometimes) but I'm really glad more people are buying PS3's. I hope the community keeps getting stronger to match up with Live.

Yeah, i agree. I'm sick and tired of sony fanboys (which i can sometimes be guilty of) believing the origonally poor sales of the PS3 meant they were sort of some sort of VIP club and the PS3 could only be the best console because it was the most expensive.

I work at target while going to school and we are easily moving 5 ps3's at a minimum for every xbox now sold. Also the amount of software sold for the PS3 has now surpassed xbox games, well at least at the target I work for here in Chicago.

Oh come on, when PC fanboys call the 360/PS3 "peasant" consoles, you freak out, calling us elitist prick bastards. And yet 360/PS3 fanboys will turn around and bash the "peasant" Wii and have an elitist view over it.

I disagree completely. I've never unjustifiably insulted a console or its users, or had any prejudice against something just because it's the one I didn't buy. I prefer PC games, but you're allowed to have a different opinion without me turning into a whiny douchebag about it.

Dude, if I believed 360 owners were capable of having sex with any woman, let alone my mom, I'd be a Nigerian millionaire. But perhaps given the Ivy League scholarship and truthfulness known to emanate from Xbox Live, I should give you the benefit of the doubt.

You do need to adhere to strict protocol which will be detailed in the manual.
Previous derogatory comments made about Sony Corp or Sony fanboys will be expunged upon acceptance of all terms and conditions in the EULA when you first boot the PS3 up. We like to call this momentus ocassion the "transformation process." I'm glad you are finally going to join us. For our numbers our growing and we have been waiting for a strong one like you. We have been a fan of your work under the Nintendo umbrella and think you will make a valuable asset to our team, goals and objectives.

lulz, hadn't seen the KZ2 one before. I'm not generally an FPS fan so I likely won't pick that up. I'm mainly looking to pick up R&C or Uncharted first (Katamari Forever shortly thereafter), and LBP for the lady. I got a chuckle after you threw me under the Nintendo umbrella considering the 360 has been the main thing I've played since I got it back at Halo 3 launch (which I started and never bothered finishing).

I've got no problem with Sony fanboys, just with the consoletards which have overrun the Stiq as of late. There was recently a sales figure post, where somebody exclaimed something along the lines of "oh I can't wait to start the upvote party after the PS3 overtakes the 360, awesome!!!" It was upvoted to blue in a short amount of time. If anybody said something like that along the lines of praising the 360 or Wii, it'd be immediately downvoted into oblivion. It's a small example, but it's been ridiculous and pathetic here lately. I've seen way too much bitterness, assholishness (sp?), and condescension here for months. I could go into further specifics but it's likely pointless. Bear in mind I certainly don't count you in that regard.

Looking forward to having one, although it'll likely be for PS3 exclusives only. I'd likely still get anything multiplat on the 360 just because of the cheevos and the fact that I don't really like the PS3 controller, except for Katamari games :P

Well you know I was only trying to be funny. The great thing is you can get all the great PSN stuff. I'm telling you now get Burn Zombie Burn and Super Stardust HD before anything else. Then, go for some other stuff like Shatter, Wipeout HD and Fat Princess. That damn Burn Zombie Burn game is so simple yet difficult at the same time that it just blows my mind. I've played that damn games over 100 hours and still haven't got all the trophies. I think there is new DLC out tomorrow so they may package it with the game for a good deal.

Your doing yourself a disservice if you don't play Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Uncharted and Infamous because they are pseudo/quasi/full blown shooters.

You'll have a shit fuck ton of exclusives to choose from on the PS3 and they are pretty well varied across all genres. I would look into Infamous, Killzone 2 (just rent it even if u don't like shooters b/c it's worth playing through at least once), Motorstorm 2, Uncharted 1 & 2 (pre-order Uncharted 2 at Gamestop b/c the multiplayer demo - co-op and competitive - went live yesterday), Heavenly Sword is another good and underappreciated game, obviously you have heard my feelings on LBP, hell even Lair is fun if your into dragons ... I'm sure you can get it for next to nothing. Another one that most people forget even exists is a really fun rpg called Folklore ... can be had probably for nadda now-a-days. Gran Turismo Prologue is great but I think GT 5 comes out this Christmas ... Lot's of stuff and I have virtually every game on the system worth owning so if you aren't sure about one just ask me ...

I think the PSN games are the best part of any system this generation. There is so much creativity and gameplay to be had for under $20 it's just insane. I would rather buy 5 or so of those than one disc based game ... like one that I'm not crazy about (not dropping any names.)

I'm pumped for the new Katamari and that Afrike game ... I already played Demon Souls and White Knight Chronicles (imports) and they are both pretty freaking sweet.

Look into Heavy Rain which comes out around January or so ... looks awesome and is something different and unique.

Heavy Rain is definitely part of what has me leaning towards door #1 (PS3) vs. door #2 (the other stuff she was considering getting me for my bday). A PS3 is a bit impersonal, so I'll miss the loving touch I usually get when it comes to her typical bday gifts :P

Heavy Rain looks sweet. Uncharted is a definite buy, no doubt. Given my DS/Wii/360 catalog I'm going to finally give Goozex a go to see if it lives up to its billing.

As for MGS4? Out of the question. I don't doubt it's a quality game and people enjoy it, but I have zero interest in playing a game that actually has cutscenes as long as that game apparently has. I personally think that's remarkably pathetic for a videogame. It's a personal opinion, and bear in mind I haven't played the previous iterations. I don't know if I'd even play ME2 if it had 30-40-50-60 minute cutscenes, and that's without a doubt one of my favorite franchises of all time.

I thought MGS 4 was just an amazing experience on the same level of a Bioshock for me. The cutscenes are pretty long but they are also high quality. It's not for everyone thats for sure. The level of detail is just so amazing ... I think I beat the game like 5 different times. Even did the no detection and no kill playthrough. I would do it all over again if it had trophies.

Ok Ok .. So, then get these: Uncharted 1 & 2, Infamous, Little Big Planet & Heavenly Sword and rent Killzone 2. Then, pick up Heavy Rain, God Of War 3 & Gran Turismo 5 next year. You can't go wrong with any of those games. In fact, that Little Big Planet GOTY edition just came out and includes $30 in DLC and a beta voucher for Modnation Racers. I want to buy it just for the beta voucher but I already have virtually all the DLC. Sigh.

If you don't buy Burn Zombie Burn and Super Stardust HD I will kick your teeth in through your computer monitor. So, for PSN the absolute can't miss must haves are: The Last Guy, Burn Zombie Burn, Super Stardust HD, Flower & Pixel Junk Eden.

@ Johnny. After being a huge Geometry Wars fan. (1 for xbox and pc, galaxies for the ds, and 2 for the 360) I was playing super stardust and it really doesn't compare.

MGS4 is good at drawing you in with the story, but I wouldn't put it in with Bioshock because in MGS4 the cutscenes take you out of the gaming experience. In Bioshock, you are completely immersed, and you feel like you are the character the whole time. All the storytelling is done from your point of view, and cut scenes can't match that.

I'm not trying to bring down MGS4 in any way, it's still a great game.

I'm thinking about getting Burn Zombie Burn.

Really been enjoying MGS4 and Shatter, though.

Geometry Wars is completely different though. It's just a different experience. I think Super Stardust HD is one of the better downloadable games of all time. It's kind of an apples to oranges comparison. Stardust is way way harder than Geometry Wars 1 & 2 but Geometry Wars 2 had better and more varied game modes included in the package. If you bought Stardust expecting Geometry Wars than you were either misinformed or had unreal expectations. They are both in space but other than that they aren't similar in the least bit. Both great in their own right but totally different.

Ironically, my Wal-Mart has seven of them. But I've seen them keep having to refill the display, so they're moving them quickly. All their old units disappeared the day of the price cut. I keep hoping they'll sell their 60GB display unit to replace it with a Slim...

I have thought about it as well. Mainly because I could sell the 60 GB version and pick up the Slim and have some coin left over for games, I could buy an extended warranty for the slim at the retail store and because it's more energy efficient. I gave my PS2 away to my niece after I bought my launch PS3 which is the only thing holding me back. Even though I have like a billion PS2 games I never play them it's still a mental thing I have to get over.

I want the Slim ... badly. If I did get a new one maybe it would be from colorware so I could get a bad ass cutom paint job. Decisions, Decisions.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I could return my model to Costco and they'd take it back no questions asked. I would have to wait until they have a PS3 Slim bundle though, because I first got my PS3 with a Ratchet & Clank and an extra controller bundle. I just feel too guilty doing it to them. My parents gave me a 15 year old dehumidifier for my basement and it stopped working. They bought it at Costco, and when I took it back, they accepted it. They even gave me a credit because the one they gave me cost less than what the old one cost 15 years ago. They're going to have me as a customer for life. I don't think I'll end up returning my PS3, but it's tempting...

I bought a PSthree and traded it for someone's 60GB. An even trade, and I got to keep my DualShock 3 and 120GB HDD. Woot.

A better deal for him than to, say, sell it to a place like GameStop. They give you $150 for older PS3 models when used towards a new one. Had he gone that route, he'd have to shell out another $150 for the new model (plus taxes).

It is going to be the hottest item in gaming for the rest of the year. We already saw Microsoft trying to answer with an elite price cut 1 week after the PS3 Slim announcement and we are currently seeing new premium Halo & Modern Warfare 360 bundles trying to give more value to their offerings. There are also the rumors circulating from that Toys r Us ad about Nintendo cutting their price down by $50 in an effort to combat the surging PS3 sales. Hopefully Sony doesn't rest on their laurels and has a nice value bundle of their own in mind for the holiday shopping season. Maybe they can throw in either or both of Killzone 2 & Infamous to the $299 bundle. If Gran Turismo 5 really is coming out this year I think they would also want to do PS3 GT bundle for $299. However, I don't think they should only add value to a $399 bundle and think thats good enough. I'm not sure a 250 GB PS3 Slim & Killzone or Infamous is going to make much difference when compared to the $299 Slim. Microsoft has pretty much shown that the lower priced SKU (Arcade) will cannibalize sales of the more profitable SKU because of the sticker shock of window shopping type consumers.

No matter how you look at it the Slim has been a massive success and some more epic strategery will only help to further their cause of surpassing Microsoft in global hardware sales totals. I'm just glad to see more people with the ability to purchase a PS3 as it's only going to benefit everyone that has one with more games and better feature sets.

As for the demand shortages - I would say it's likely. When you have something selling like crack it only further creates that buying frenzy among consumers that can't find one. Look how long the Wii had hardware shortages ... that probably won't happen with the PS3 but a holiday shortage on PS3s is to be expected.
