Beatles: Rock Band sales exceeding expectations, Viacom says
When Viacom's CEO, Philippe Dauman, says that The Beatles: Rock Band sales have "exceeded internal expectations," we have to imagine that he doesn't have his top expectations men on the job. If we had been asked for our expectations of a game featuring the most popular band of all time, we would have simply pointed toward www.mythirdyacht.com and been on our way.
What's actually a surprise from an IndustryGamers report on the matter is that even in our crummy economy, it's the $250 version of the game -- bundled with all the instruments -- that's performing so well that Dauman says he expects a sellout by November.

YOU****************MOTHER************************POTATO*********...
That's what went through my head when you said that.
The rest had to be bleeped.
No Kill Tayler @ Sep 16th 2009 8:06PM
I love Paramore. But even my fanboy instincts say noooooo it wouldn't have.
The Baron @ Sep 16th 2009 8:12PM
That would be one fun guitar and bass career mode right there.

Was that a funny comment? because it was HILARIOUS
AlphakirA @ Sep 17th 2009 5:43AM
Guys, unfortunately he's completely right. I don't think he's talking about the quality of the band but instead of the quality of the 360s audience...WE may love the Beatles, but the average 15 year old couldn't care less (unless their parents don't want them to own it).
Bradwart @ Sep 16th 2009 8:02PM
Lucy can afford those diamonds in the sky now!
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 16th 2009 8:04PM
She already had them in the first place. Now she has diamond studded diamonds.
fundando @ Sep 16th 2009 9:18PM

VaultICEE @ Sep 16th 2009 8:03PM
Take THAT Kotick!
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 16th 2009 8:04PM
Kotick just punched the baby of one of his employees after reading that comment.
The Baron @ Sep 16th 2009 8:14PM
Was it actually him insulting everyone in that thread the other day?
Do global software company executives go online and have flame wars in their lunch breaks?
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 8:39PM
Actually Mr. Baron, I was trying to keep a civilized conversation, but those who occupy the on-line world confuse me. Fucknuts like you don't understand how hard it is for me to do my job. Sometimes I have to get up at the crack of noon for work, sometimes I have to go to the bathroom on the other side of the hall, and sometimes I miss the employee I intend to punch after stupid Joystiq commenters such as these.
So in other words, fuck off!
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 16th 2009 8:47PM
DAMMIT BOBBY! Don't you be gettin close to ma baby. I'll whoop your ass.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 8:50PM
Bring It On, bitch!
VaultICEE @ Sep 16th 2009 9:02PM
I elect Peter Moore to knock this mufucka' outta here. Have you SEEN that guy's guns??
The Baron @ Sep 16th 2009 9:07PM
Jack Tretton wants in on this!
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 16th 2009 9:15PM
I'll have you know, I took down a terrorist organization in a matter of decades. TAKE THAT!!! And I made my friend jump onto a truck full of marshmallows.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 9:23PM
Oh yeah, Steve? Well I obliterated a highly profitable video game series in a matter of months. Beat that!
Peter Moore @ Sep 16th 2009 9:49PM
You're still ugly, Bobby.
Just stare into my eye, and know this: you will never be as amazingly sexy.
Also, I fucked your wife.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 9:53PM
Aww, what's the matter, Peter? Still upset over the failure that is Madden 10 on the Wii?
Peter Moore @ Sep 16th 2009 10:01PM
Madden is doing fine on the 360, PS3 and PS2. The Madden audiance has always been about the most realistic looking simulation, so it's no wonder that the ones that have already upgraded from the PS2 jumped to the High Definition consoles.
But no worries, we got EA Sports Active on the Wii, that is the audience that we are targeting for the Wii, and we're doing fantastic. That along with Tiger Woods.
So, let me ask you this, Bobby: Fuck you.
I know that wasn't a question, but who cares, I'm still more awesome than you'll ever hope to be.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 10:05PM
Can you please give me one moment, Peter? I need to ask my secretary what an appropriate response would be for you...
Peter Moore @ Sep 16th 2009 10:08PM
Oh, Bobby-boy, while you're at it, have your secretary write this down for you:
Go fuck yourself.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 10:11PM
Let's be friends.
Peter Moore @ Sep 16th 2009 10:13PM
Fuck you, Bobby.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 10:22PM
Jeez. It's not like I saw trying to insult you. I just felt as though there was a small chance of me losing this arguement. If you can't beat them, join them, right?
Sometimes, I don't know why Microsoft did what they did for you...
Peter Moore @ Sep 16th 2009 10:25PM
Because I'm Peter fucking Moore.
And don't you forget it.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 10:28PM
Ah, well. I guess it's on paper that matters, a paper says that Activision is awesome, not EA.

I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard with comments on this site hahaha
Slaziman @ Sep 17th 2009 12:12AM
Peter Moore comes though once more for the Joystiq community
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 17th 2009 12:34AM
Probably because Bobby Kotick sucks dick.
Oh wait...
xxhonkeyxx @ Sep 17th 2009 1:41AM
i love how wikipedia'a article for Bobby Kotick starts:
"Robert A. Kotick (born 1963)[1] is a 46 year old virgin...."
seriously. go look it up
bongoes the Black Lantern @ Sep 17th 2009 3:52PM
We need more users named after people in the game industry (or in Kotick's case, the suck the fun out of games industry).
Rob Accomando @ Sep 16th 2009 8:06PM
that can only mean one thing: The Beatles Rockband 2!!
(Sarcasm)
pete @ Sep 16th 2009 11:33PM
no sarcasm needed, because they more than likely could seeing how they included a small fraction of the beatles' musical library and have only planned 2 more albums for DLC
CyrusK @ Sep 16th 2009 8:06PM
I'm glad the game is doing well, I think it's a wonderful game and Harmonix is a company that deserves continued success.
Bobby Kotick @ Sep 16th 2009 9:07PM
They deserve nothing. All their success has been because of it's similarities to our title, Guitar Hero. They are a shameless knock-off of our title and need to be put back in their place. Don't worry. We have the final blow that will be the end of the Rock Band series forever, our upcoming title called Band Hero. No one will go to Rock Band games again.
Nicknin10do @ Sep 16th 2009 9:25PM
This is the situation, i have a hacked xbox. (in be for o god, you're horrible, reason for bad economy etc.)
But I when i heard of how much they spent to make this game I immediatly said "I have to BUY this game"
as for GH5, I said fuck it, downloaded it.
Metal Muse @ Sep 16th 2009 10:03PM
lol at bobby because hes really dumb
MystileArmor @ Sep 16th 2009 8:10PM
I'd suggest this game even if you weren't that big a fan of The Beatles music (although I don't understand how you cannot be). The presentation is phenomenal.
Crayfish @ Sep 17th 2009 1:13AM
Goddamn it's true. I was already expecting it to be pretty nice, but this is definitely how it's done.
B3astofthe3ast @ Sep 16th 2009 8:19PM
I work at target, and this game has been sold out for some time....meanwhile, GH5 still sits there from when it first came out. Could this be the first rock band to beat GH?
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 16th 2009 9:16PM
Can you send me G5? I'll trade it in at Gamestop for the special edition of this game.
Durden @ Sep 16th 2009 8:25PM
I really didn't expect this to sell well. I'm very glad I was wrong :)
Rob S. @ Sep 16th 2009 8:25PM
Does anyone know how difficult the game play is? I was thinking of picking this up and I have never played a music game like it before.
Rob Accomando @ Sep 16th 2009 8:27PM
compared to RB1 and 2 it's a bit easier.
Just buy it, practice, and you'll be having a blast in no time
Rob S. @ Sep 16th 2009 8:29PM
Thank you.
Kinsey @ Sep 16th 2009 8:28PM
Is this the beginning of Guitar Hero consumers switching over to Rock Band?!
Only Time will tell!
Tune in tomorrow* — same Joystiq-time, same joystiq-channel.
