I don't know if I should be upset because it's Viacom, or happy because it's Harmonix with The Beatles: Rock Band

Bobby, you dwarf-looking, ugly motherfucker, you ain't shit.

EA Sports started the annualizing of the game market, you be on our turf, motherfucker.

Activision may be high right now, on your throne built from your plastic instruments, and WoW profits, but you're going to fail. My predictions, you "stepping down" end of Activision's fiscal year.

YOU DON'T FUCK WITH PETER MOORE.

I call Bullshit on this. . Its easy to "sell out" when you aren't making as many copies while your Rockband bundles sit in a warehouse somewhere in New Jersey.

Really cause at the Toys R Us I work at not a single person has bought one yet and I live in a fairly large city. Shame really.

That's probably because nobody would go to a Toys-R-Us for The Beatles: Rock Band. That's like wondering why Michael Jackson albums aren't being bought at a Hot Topic.

To be fair they do sell Michael Jackson shirts at Hot Topic...

But I see your point, Toys-R-Us is never a good place to buy video games in general at unless there's a sale

SHH!

Toys R Us is my poorly-concealed "get a game on launch day when it's sold out everywhere else" trump card!

I mean... as long as the game is worth donning a HAZMAT suit to wade through the kiddy germs, and the extensive post-purchase decontamination process.

Above expectations? They must've been low...

After all, Guitar Hero 5 is the better selling game. Why do you all suppose that is?

You must be brainwashed, thinking that Harmonix was there in the beginning. They make Rock Band, dumbass. Their shameless knock-off won't stand too long, though, as our title, Band Hero, will be the end of the Rock Band series forever. You might as well get with the program and pre-order Band Hero, as all your friends has most likely already done.

Didn't Harmonix make GH1? And why would I want to play Band Hero? Rock Band sounds cool cuz it's got the word ROCK and Guitar Hero sounds cool because of the word Guitar... Rock Guitar would be a way better game then Band Hero

Well, Mr. Peace Fog, if that is your name, Band Hero will utilize that classic Guitar Hero gameplay style (easy to learn, difficult to master) as well as bringing together some of music's greatest stars of all time, such as Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, and Taylor Swift. In fact, we have a special right now, that you will be able to meet Taylor Swift in person! So please pre-order Band Hero, and have a chance to meet Taylor Swift.

*If you do win, let me know how she felt at the MTV Music Awards.

Give the Beatles time, I think it will sell a lot more during Christmas, and continue to do pretty well through out next year. Guitar Hero 5 has likely has most of its sales in one huge surge, and will drop off completely in the next week or two.

The title "Band Hero" always makes me think of the marching band geeks from high school. I'm expecting the cover to have a fat kid playing the bass drum, and an asian girl playing the clarinet.

I have to admit I'm surprised. While I'm a huge fan of the Beatles AND own Rock Band, I'm 38 years old. Being born in 1971 assured that while I had heavy exposure to the Beatles growing up, they weren't Gods to me and I didn't rush out and buy it. I would LOVE to know the statistical data behind who is driving the sales- 50 and 60 somethings who are buying their first video game consoles since the Atari? Leprechauns? I have no idea who is buying this game. If it's Generation Y... why?

I, too, wonder why people would actually pay money for this product when they could get twice the game with Guitar Hero 5. Purchasing now will also give you our future title, Guitar Hero: Van Halen, a much more timeless band, for free.

Being GenY, I will try to answer your question to the best of my ability.

I purchased The Beatles: Rock Band on launch day, for several reasons. I was exposed to some of The Beatles' music when I was growing up, almost entirely from my parent's collection. I don't revere them as gods, but I do agree with their status as one of the greatest, most influential artists of all time. Quite simply, their music is fantastic, and has aged very well.

The second factor is the game itself. A truly amazing title, with the extreme attention to detail that Harmonix has come to be known for. They've put an extraordinary amount of effort into the presentation and gameplay, and made something that is worth my hard-earned money.

Third is the social aspect. Rock Band (and Guitar Hero) are, by nature, party games. The Beatles: Rock Band offered something else -- the chance to enjoy a video game with my parents. I can entice them to play because it's music they love, and music they enjoyed. It's an experience that spans several generations, and there are very few games today that can lay claim to that.

(Disclaimer: I didn't buy the full instrument set. I bought a single "The Beatles: Rock Band" guitar [Gretsch Duo] and the standalone game)

@Bobby Kotick:

I know you're the CEO of Activision Blizzard and all, and probably have nothing better to do than make pointless inflammatory posts, but if you put as much effort into your games as you do into being a dick, then you might see that brutally ravaging every piece of IP that falls into your hands is not the most sound business model. When that day comes, I may just buy one of your products.

Seems to me that doing no work still results in profit. Take Guitar Hero: Aerosmith for example, selling millions dispite having nothing different from Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Whose the not smart person now?

Even if you aren't a fan of the band, which I honestly can't understand since they offer almost a little something for everyone, the dreamscapes alone are worth it. I say buy the game or bundle, bring some friends and family over as well as a little help from your mushrooms. Best party game ever.

Well, the numbers are in, and according to vgchartz.com, TB:RB sold over 700,000 worldwide in its first week. Comparatively, GH5 sold 519,000 in its first week. How does it taste Kotick?
