Custom Arkham Asylum skins unmask Batman's identity issues

One of the incentives to play Batman: Arkham Asylum on PC (outside of a lower price and PhysX graffix) is the ability to create custom skins. The community has quickly gotten to work and flooded the official forums with screen grabs of the various outfits modders have designed. Aside from the obvious The Dark Knight and classic Bats skins, there's a neat Green Lantern variation and, pictured above, a recession-conscious Batman opting for Old Navy–esque cargos instead of the usual rubbery expensive stuff. Hey, they breathe better, right?

Joystiq is a VIDEOGAME blog and this concerns a VIDEOGAME. Maybe its not that fair since the vast majority of Joystiq readers are console gamers and this doesn't apply to them.

What exactly makes you not want to pay full price for Batman, which is easily the best game released this year so far, but gladly pay full price for something like Uncharted? Which is likely going to have around the same length and replayability.

True, it has multiplayer, but I can't believe anyone would be buying the game with that as a factor.

believe it or not, multiplayer is a huge factor for a lot of people. like me. that's why i can't play arkham asylum for more than 20 minutes without switching to COD4/WAW.

When a modder makes the Adam West 60's Batman show costume or even character model, I will truly be proud to own the PC version!!! I'm picking the game up by the end of this week, and I'll only pay $25 since my fellow PC gaming brother will split it up with me. I just hope the DRM allows at least two installs. : )

There's some pretty nice work in there. I love the classic blue and grey, and the detail in recreating the recent movie suits is impressive. It would be great if they added a few more skins to the console versions of the game. Having the community vote on the best PC skins to be included would be a cool PR move. As a plus, actually being able to play the main game with the skins would be a blast. The extra suit in the official game is only available for the challenges, which is a shame.

The only problem being that you CAN'T USE THEM!

The retail version of the game uses Securom and therefore denies you acess to modify the game. This was not the case with the demo exe and therfore you were free to modify.

The mods are made for the demo, who's exe-file was not protected by Securom.

It does seem that the only way to use mods atm is to use a crack, I would have guessed game developers ha´d learned a thing or two about the modding community by now. But apperantly not.

I think i like the Batman Begins and TDK the most but all of them are awesome. Also just so everyone knows, the Dark Claw one wasnt just some dude thinking it would be cool, that was the actual design for the "Dark Claw" character that was the mashup of Batman and Wolverine during DC and Marvels Amaglam Comics stuff.
