Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach beta bundled with Halo machine

While entirely devoid of ill-fitting iconic helmets, one of Microsoft's new Xbox 360 Elite bundles -- designated for European markets, judging by the rating information on the box -- offers everything you need to stride 'n' strafe into the Halo universe. It's no "Super Elite," but the 120GB package offers a fair amount of elites to shoot at in the included Halo 3, its upcoming expansion, Halo 3: ODST, and (consequently) the beta for next year's Halo game, Reach. As usual, Microsoft has thrown in a one-month Xbox Live Gold membership, which is just long enough for you to realize that you can never ever beat the internet at Halo.

Prices are sure to vary from region to region (fun fact: it goes for roughly $580 in South Africa), so have a look on your shelves at the start of October, which is when retailers expect the bundle to drop in.

What a perfect example of a troll. The beta code comes with ODST. Anyone who buys ODST gets into the Reach Beta. Please do some research before you start making up lies about how this is milking a franchise.

I've been lurking for a while now and damn this place has turned into PS3 Fanboy. Theres this little group of PS3 fanboys who keep backing each other up spewing nothing but fanboy crap. So lame. =( I miss the pre-merge Joystiq SOOOOOO bad. :*( I thought it had tapered off but when I started visiting again there are all these new names and all they do is get hard-ons for the Teh Powar of Teh Cell. Ugh...

1) Both systems have great online now.
2) Both systems have great exclusives.
3) Both are capable of pretty much the same graphics.

Give it a rest! If anything we should unite against the Wii. Now that system has a thick ass layer of dirt, not dust, dirt since nobody in my house plays it anymore. PS3 and 360 get play just about everyday.

I hardly think Microsoft has/is/was/were milking the Halo franchise.

2001 - Halo: CE
2004 - Halo 2
2007 - Halo 3
2010 - Halo: Reach

A Halo game has been released once every 3 years (with 2 subsequent spinoffs/expansions to the main trilogy, Halo Wars and ODST). Microsoft has been very delicate with the franchise considering it's massive worldwide popularity.

It's only been 2 years since the last Uncharted game came out...they are milking Uncharted SOOOOO bad! Between the 1st game coming out, the PS3 bundle that included the game, the Uncharted 2 Beta in Infamous, and now Uncharted 2? REALLY SONY!?!?!?!?!?! Don't even get me started on God of War.

Fenix, havent seen you around in a while. I agree with Khan. The wii has betting getting shit from day one. at least nintendo didnt come out and say "we do 720p MIN" like MS and then had their own inhouse studio do less. or pull a "You should want to get an extra job for the PS3".

I am in no way saying the Wii is a good gaming machine but you knew what you were getting from day one. We knew it was a weak system and we knew its controls were less than perfect.

Anyway its nice to see you have that MW2 avatar instead of the Gears one.

For folks who like teh Halo multiplayer, this is a great deal, since if you already have a 360, you'll now have the multiplayer available on two boxes with Halo 3 for one machine, and ODST for the other. I'm considering selling my second copy of Halo 3 when I pick up ODST myself because of this. I'll sacrifice 3-4 player split screen co-op campaign on the two consoles, but I've only played that once or twice anyway.

Like I said, the same thing was said about the PS3 months ago and the 360 is in a similar predicament. I know you read the news last week when it said that the PS3 sold half a million units and if it continues selling at a high rate (I know not a 500k a week but) it will help easy some hate people have been showing the PS3 (maybe even Gabe). If Microsoft isn't a little worried, then I'm worried for them...

I work in a game shop, and we get loads of bundles all the time of ps3 and 360s. The only actual people that buy these things are people who are looking to buy that specific console and where going to get that game anyway. Considering 90% of the time the console itself isn't any different to the standard package (bar the halo 3 and Modern warfare 2 consoles having different skins/HDD) there is no point buying them if you already have them.

Good incentive, but beyond collectors, i really don't know how many extra units this'll move. People buying a 360 for a Halo game probably bought it already, but it'll net a fair few, in all likelihood.
