'iGame Family' iPod dock for TV: includes Wiimote-esque controller, games
Click to iEnhance
Elonex's iGame Family is a TV dock for the iPhone/iPod Touch (and other iPod devices) that comes with six games and a remote inspired by Nintendo's Wii console. The games include tennis, bowling, ping pong, darts, "firecracker" and "trampoline." The dock also allows users to play their iPod's music and videos through the television.
Elonex is currently trying to recruit developers to create more titles for the console, which will then be sold at "official iGame retailers." We're currently checking with the company to see how much it plans to sell the device for and how integrated the wand is with non-iGame software.
Update: The company let us know the iGame Family will retail for £79 in the UK. Still working on the wand answer, international release plans and price.

I hope all the shit excuses for games don't crash the video game market, remember 1983!!

This looks like it could be a great device. Especially if you can view all your music and videos right from the TV and be able to use the remote to select them.
Another good feature would be if you could view your apps and play your games as well. If the price is reasonable, the features are there, and the games are decent I would probably buy it.
Special Agent Steve @ Sep 16th 2009 9:14PM
Right... games. Fart Button says hello.
Bradwart @ Sep 16th 2009 9:14PM
iThink you are iNsane.
Just kidding. The video part would only be worth it if the 'console' is cheaper than the iPod AV cables.
MystileArmor @ Sep 16th 2009 9:14PM
but with whatever console you already own you can watch your videos, listen to your music and play games already... why would you want this?
You really think the games are going to be that awesome?
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 16th 2009 9:59PM
i dunno, zenonia IS the shit. and... and... um... i'll get back to you with another good iphone exclusive later.

Man,
What did this guy do to deserve being downvoted like this?! I happen to agree with him. I think he's being a bit optimistic, but I agree with him.
iPod gaming isn't that bad and being able to dock your device and have a cheap gaming console would be kind of cool.
Meh,
manaman
DosPelones @ Sep 17th 2009 12:17AM
You are right that I am being optimistic, but if this "console" is even somewhat successful someone else is going to copy and improve on it. I think the idea of an ipod dock with a good interface and some gaming potential is really good. If its cheap.
whylekat @ Sep 16th 2009 9:17PM
This would be cool if you could play current iphone games on your television.
Shadsy @ Sep 16th 2009 9:23PM
Dare I say it, this is a good idea! The Wii's most unique feature is its controller, so porting it over to an already versatile, kinda powerful, and widely available media device isn't a bad idea as long as its cheap. Hell, other people could write apps that use the controller too!
Bradwart @ Sep 16th 2009 9:31PM
The Wii's most unique feature is that they can do a RAM upgrade to 2001 Gamecube technology and con 50 million people into buying it.
Sly (PSN: SniperChameleon) @ Sep 16th 2009 10:46PM
bradwart, you forgot the duct tape. that's an important part too.
Bradwart @ Sep 16th 2009 11:19PM
Oh, how could I. SHIGGY! YOU AND YOUR STUPID DUCT TAPE!
DosPelones @ Sep 16th 2009 9:25PM
I used to have a Wii and it was fun as a party game, but I could not justify keeping it to play a game once every month or so. However I am interested in a device that has a Wii bowling and tennis type of game and also has a great interface for my ipod touch.
Another point I want to add is playing an ipod on your 360 or PS3 works badly. They won't play any DRM content and the interface is horrible.

I know 10 kids at my school that would buy this. I am not one of them

So Apple is indeed trying everything they can... but why not add the nunchuk to complete the rip-off?
yahoo_serious @ Sep 17th 2009 12:24PM
So, Apple has nothing to do with it. This is something made by a company called Elonex.

Ok Ok This one to just crazy to see. Wow the spin offs been going crazy the last few weeks.

I suppose the chances of hitting the screen with an accidentally-thrown controller are far less with that tiny screen...
clanboru15 @ Sep 17th 2009 10:07AM
Oh is this because the iPod touch is a gaming platform?
