You, like myself and others, forget about Wii Music.

Now, if by some miracle we could get Minibosses or NESkimos tracks via Rock Band DLC, that'd be interesting. Though somehow I don't see Nintendo liking that idea.

Light show must be included, by the by.

Seriously, while we're all comparing why The Beatles game works and Floyd wouldn't, barring the aforementioned Beatles Rock Band, which other band music game has more universal appeal? Metallica perhaps, because they've reached godly status and the game seems well done...but Floyd is at least on par with them.

Hey guys, downvote me into oblivion:

Guitar Hero Metallica is 100x better than The Beatles Rock Band, so I would much rather see a Pink Floyd game in the GH franchise. And yes, I actually believe that.

Right and wrong.

Guitar Hero: Metallica is a much better single player experience than The Beatles: Rock Band.

The Beatles: Rock Band is a much better band experience, though.

It's not because GH:M was bad for band songs, it was just that the shared pool of star power is not fun. As a drummer, many times I have gone to activate star power, only to find out that the guitarist took it before I could activate. PLINK. Just missed. Also, if the vocalist uses a microphone that is very sensitive, they will activate star power all the time. Thankfully, they killed both of these problems in GH5. (indiv. star power and "clap" activation)

My nephew didn't know two squats about music when Guitar Hero came out, but after getting into it, he bought a real guitar and is now playing in a band with some high school buddies. This is a real world example on how Jimmy Page and Jack White are too hasty in their speculation that these games somehow shun people from learning to play real instruments.

@Zampano actually the most sold album of all time is Thriller. Dark Side of the Moon is number 4. Back in Black by AC/DC is numer 2, and (sigh) number 3 is Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf sadly.

Yeah, I discovered that after my post. My bad. I was confusing the number of weeks on the top 100 with sales figures. And Bat Out of Hell? Seriously? It's not only depressing that it's above Dark Side, it's depressing that it's there at all. And, as has been pointed out several times already, nothing by the Beatles is there. WTF?

I know, I'll never understand the draw of Meatloaf. Especially how I believe the third part of his rock opera tanked really badly. I can understand the soundtracks, as they had huge mainstream appeal. But it is interesting that the beatles didn't crack it. The only thing I can really guess is that during the start of their career, going out and buying the album wasn't as popular at that point. As it does seem that almost all of the top selling albums are albums were post Beatles. I'm assuming the decline of radio play and increase in home record sales as well as record players might show some collaboration along that line.

Completely ancedotal evidence, but anywhere I got shopping for vinyls I can always find at least two copies of Thriller in very good condition, but it's very rare I come across a Beatles album not to mention in good condition. In fact the cheapest Beatles album I ever bought was "Hey Jude" which isn't even a "true" Beatles album, and that was 12 bucks in ok condition. But I own several copies of Thriller that are even unopened, that I got for around 2-3 dollars. (Granted this was before MJ's death and the arbitray increase in price of anything MJ related)

Seriously, I've been a Pink Floyd fan for as long as I can remember (I'm 22 now). I absolutely love Pink Floyd and listen to them a least once a day.

Now, I do agree that they really wouldn't be too great for parties nor would most of their music play well in Rock Band. (I would never ever accept a Guitar Hero: Pink Floyd. No matter if they are my favorite band ever, I will never support Activision as a company.) A 45+ song game would be a bit hard to do.

A great idea would be to have at least The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall as full albums you could play with tid-bits from other albums as well.

BTW, the dreamscapes would be f***ing awesome in this game. MUCH MUCH better than in The Beatles: Rock band.

But on another note, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do Led Zeppelin How The West Was Won: Rock Band. This is the only version I would accept. (I would accept any version actually, but this one would be the best.)

i've been wanting a PF:RB for so long now. at least a song or two. this would be epic, imagine having the light show on the screen as you play?! i think that's more where it's at. i was pretty impressed by that dump of a game GHWT (too bad) when the Tool songs came on and they had that very trippy background with the snake faces and eyes. get the right mix of visuals and epicness and you'll have a winner. throw in 3D and OMFG my eyeballs would be royally fucked!

and to be fair, GH: Metallica isnt such a party game, but damn does it rock and was deemed a success. so why the "PF isn't a party game"? who said that's what they'd be going for in the first place. and on a side note, all these games actually inspired me to go out and take REAL drum lessons. which i continue to do. so there Nicky...

I think both companies have shown that when the pressure is on, they can make great games. HMX always has, but Activision showed real skill and attention to detail in GH: Metallica. Personally, I felt that Guitar Hero 5 didn't feel as good as GH:M, but I think that if they had the weight of Pink Floyd on their shoulders they would rise to the occasion.

I think GH:5 had a really fantastic interface, with wonderful animations. The whole game is very polished and fine. The only problem that anyone really has with it is the songs, it seems.

Guitar Hero: Metallica was a metalhead's dream come true. Not only were there great songs for casual players (Enter Sandman, the Unforgiven, King Nothing, Where ever I may Roam, Fuel, The Boys Are Back in Town, Toxicity), but they put in alot of AWESOME songs for the hardcore players (Fight Fire With Fire, Dyers Eve, War Ensemble, The Shortest Straw, Disposable Heroes, and Whiplash)

GH5, however, has good casual songs, and good hardcore songs.... but there is a big "middle ground" area in the game which is just filled with indie rock. I guess if you are into it, it's fantastic, but if not, you'll find yourself skipping a portion of the setlist.

yeah to be honest....This game would be just as good as Beatles Rock Band. I love Beatles and think the RB game was amazing. Idk what they would do for the long soothing parts tho. I remember kids complaining about the long intro to foreplay/longtime by boston. Personally this might deter people from buying it and keep the real fans such as myself to playing it. Same thing kinda goes for the Beatles. Ive only found online people that love the Beatles and bought it for that and didnt just buy it because its another rock band or guitar hero.

Even though Pink Floyd is one of my favorite bands of all time, I'm not sure how well a full-fledged game would work. The songs they perform are rather long. Which is perfect when you're simply listening to it, but I think any of the long songs in Rock Band/ Guitar Hero start to get boring after so long. Still, DLC packs would be excellent!

Agreed with the long songs.

Do You Feel Like We Do is an amazing song, and Peter Frampton is amazing. But at 13 minutes long on GH5, it just wears you out.

There were a lot of little things that added up over time. The biggest being that after playing a song you'd have to scroll through the entire setlist again.

I gave them the benefit of the doubt after GH:M, but I don't think I'm going to do it again. Not for $60.

Now you're just being lazy. You can scroll down the entire setlist in 3 seconds if you hold down the yellow button and strum down. Besides, why not make a playlist? Pick all the songs you wanna play, and shuffle them. If you change your mind, you can just skip the song.

Out of all the things to bitch about, you are bitching about one of the things they did right.

This is basically what i've been dreaming for in a music game. This would be my favorite game ever if they executed it properly. It would be so epic to play "Echoes", "Atom Heart Mother", "Shine on You Crazy Diamond", etc ALL THE WAY THROUGH at one sitting.

I would be dissapointed if they just had select tracks...Pink Floyd make albums, not singles. Therefore select albums should be implemented as a whole, and hopefully playable as one straight through set list.

look man it doesn't matter ok even if they did make a game for em it would suck. remember this is THE Pink Floyd we're talking about, the guys with extremely long jams and huge concept albums once they put echoes on there nothing else will fit lol. besides breaking up the songs would be kind of a drag because most of them are connected with one another. ex: Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall. whatever man id still buy it if they made it, only right after i put the pieces of my head together after it explodes on launch day. =p

And there were only 2 bands that I could come up with: THE ROLLING STONES & LED ZEPPELIN

Sorry Pink Floyd...I love you....but i think it's a tough conversion to a video game that would connect with mainstream gamers.....

Have you seen The You Rock Guitar? (www.YouRockGuitar.com)
It's a hybrid digital guitar and video game controller that can be played with any video game console or connected to an AMP and played as a real guitar. It's also a MIDI controller. It's getting a lot of positive buzz online - including by Danny Johnson, Guitar Hero World Record Holder and guitarist George Pajon Jr. of the Black Eyed Peas. It's supposed to be coming out soon. I think a Pink Floyd RB or GH, would most assuredly work. First, for all the nay-sayers out there that says they (Pink Floyd) don't have a big enough following I ask you this, Metallica and Aerosmith do? Second, the story line would be just as great if not better than the Beatles. They too started in the London underground, playing tiny venues, then with popularity rising they started playing bigger and bigger places with more elaborate sets and stage props (i.e. the Dark Side of the Moon tour with the huge projector screen "eye" and lasers, or the Wall tour in which they literally built the Wall on stage while the band played, or Live at Pompeii, just to name a few). Second, Pink Floyd has their fair share of poppier more radio friendly songs ranging from See Emily Play all the way to Another Brick in the Wall, to Learning to Fly. Of course, they'd have to put some of the more epic songs like Shine On or Echoes, but I think I speak for every Pink Floyd fan when I say those would be freakin' sweet to play! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Make this game!
